Just watched it for the first time and i love it . People miss the irony . Paparazzi stalk and hunt celebrities , in the story a celebrity Hunts and stalks the paparazzi . The were wolf twist was brilliant
This. 🎯
Some people lacked comprehending the storyline.
Its not brilliant when you are looking at a sci-fi show
Compleatly agree!
The biggest problem with the werewolf twist is the fact that it feels like it came out of nowhere. There's nothing in the episode to suggest that there's any kind of supernatural element involved, and the transition into generic monster movie runaround in the last act was really jarring and confusing. Had this been like Demon 79 and they'd been upfront about it including supernatural elements rather than being your standard technological parable that we've come to expect from this show, I think the episode could've been a big better. As it stands though, what we get instead is a 30-minute-long superficial cross-examination of the paparazzi, followed up by 10 minutes of characters being chased by a big scary monster
Watch it a second time. The clues were everywhere.
@kevin9793 was there clues really?

This episode felt like old school twilight zone but it would have been better if the hit and run scene hadn't felt copied from crocodile.
I seem to be one of the few who genuinely really enjoyed this episode. Idk, I get that it's not about tech and it could be argued that that betrays the focal point of Black Mirror - but as a standalone bit of thriller TV I thought it was great! So rarely do we get werewolf stories anymore and I just thought this was great, unpretentious fun. Super surprising and exciting and didn't overstay its welcome.
There were literally just werewolves in Wednesday 🤣 but I am happy you enjoyed it
It was trash
This series worked best as a psychological horror, not a thriller.
Personally, I prefer seeing how bad technology can be as opposed to the latest creature feature.
Maybe it represented how celebrity culture or the fascination with it.... will consume us all.
Yeah Mazey being a werewolf is a metaphor for how the media can turn people into monsters
I thought it represented that if you pry too deep, you’ll find something you wish you hadn’t reflected by how the first guy killed himself and Bo’s feelings towards that. The scene with the other female celeb felt like “poking the beast” so to speak. What if the beast was an actual Beast? After all this, the story we wanted uncovered, the hit and run, was never uncovered. We only see the gore and horror of Mazy’s breakdown, but none of the things behind it. Also, might be a stretch, but funny he says at the end it’s a “dog eat dog world” given that Bo calls Hector (and presumably all paparazzi) a dog earlier in the episode to which he replies, “Meow.” When it actual dog chases them, they become the “cat” so to speak.
I'd missed the 1st scene showing the werewolf so I was hella confused when the werewolf showed up at the end
I forgot everything about this episode lmao I thought I'd missed one
And here I was thinking the Miley Cyrus episode was the worst.
I have a theory. It's not a good theory, but here goes: Brooker saw that the vaguely-similar but more horror-themed TV show Inside No 9 was becoming more popular than Black Mirror, and so decided to pivot in a similar direction. After all, how much can you really get out of "technology bad"? Black Mirror has to adapt. Inside No 9 is very good and actually references Black Mirror at one point, when an actor gets confused over which of the two shows they are working on.
I think you are definitely on to something. Brooker has spoken of his admiration for Inside no.9 on more than one occasion
This episode is just an elaborate Charlie's angels episode...It's Charlie's Angels meets Scooby Doo
If Scooby Doo had rabies
My least favourite episode ever
Exactly
Bo is essentially a hybrid of Joker/Rafterman from "Full Metal Jacket". But, she actually used the camera in the final "shoot me" scene.
Ah, the pinnacle of Black Mirror.
For me the most shocking thing was seeing how cold hearted and selfish the paparazzi acted the whole time… even in the end when Mazey was so fragile and begged the girl to shoot her, she gave Mazey the gun so she could film it… I mean what the hell!??
We need more solidarity , more empathy in this world.
Black mirror made a good point with the social criticism in this episode!
Not terrible, but extremely surface level and not worthy of being a part of black mirror.
But compared to Demon 79 this is a masterpiece
It only ended up here because it's basically a test run for a potential separate series. It was the first episode written after all
I absolutely love this episode. I haven’t decided yet if it’s my favorite but it’s definitely top 3
I legit turned my xbox off, and brought the episode up on my phone because I thought Netflix was glitching and not playing Black Mirror....tf even was this
This episode is so overhated to me. It's quite surface-level commentary but the twist being so unexpected is kind of the point and I don't think it's a complete miss?
I think it's because it is not what fans of the show are used to and a sudden genre switch and people aren't always the best of getting used to things we aren't used to
I totally agree. I’ve always been a black mirror fan because of the plot twists (in addition to other reasons), and good god this plot twist was one of a kind
Hmm i wonder if this episode is another of the parallel realities that the quantum computer at streamberry generates to generate content, in short what if this episode is another streamberry show, because most episodes of season 6 seem like to be part of that universe
This wasn't the worst episode. That award goes to Smithereens.
Mazey Day is easily one of Black Mirror's worst episodes....and this is coming from a legit fan of the series 😕
Spoilers?
The hate this episode has gotten does kind of remind me of how us humans hate when things suddenly change. We as humans aren't always great at change, some are because of how complex and varied of a species we are but that obviously isn't always the case when people see something that suddenly is different and how we jump on a bandwagon to revel in our shared dislike of it. I myself wasn't a fan of this episode but it is a interesting thing to ponder about
It’s crazy cz it’s what black mirror is trying to show. Our double standards, human nature, even this reviewer is stuck under that. I mean everyone is now too focused on writing, script etc forgetting a story could just be like that, Humans can actually behave like this
see i think its a cool idea but its just not black mirror yknow
