Goose bumps. Chills. Speechless. To paraphrase a review about a dancer, but the same applies...others may have perfect technique, but she sings one note and she can break/open my heart.
😢❤❤her voice is incredibly powerful, this song would crush countless people who are in the throes of a romantic situation, I love this singer and her already magical ewt name.
This is one of my top 10 Christina performances. As a "day 1" Christina fan, that's pretty major. This performance was before Bionic was released and I was personally going through a tough time and this performance just hit my heart and soul right where I needed it to. Got me even more excited for the album and I can always watch this performance to lift me up when I'm feeling down
Technique only takes one so far, this emotive capability can't be taught; this is why she is regarded as *"The Voice of her generation"* unlike the singer with nearly flawless technique 😏
Actually that's not correct. Proper technique takes you further, helps you expand range, protects your voice, prevents nodules. No performance can be 100%, vocal technique always prevents you from oversinging which is something Christina does a lot. I don't think justifying unproper technique is a positive thing for her. We want her voice for longer and see all she managed in this performance using proper technique, this was flawless, amazing, healthy, but check out the Letterman performance of You lost me (don't get me wrong it's a very good performance but disregard of technique makes her less consistent in her deliveries, she choked at the climax and that's because of laryngeal position, it's very common she probably swallowed saliva and the larynx had an odd position preventing epiglottis to close the airway completely when swallowed so she almost choked on a tiny bit of saliva. In the later years her technique has improved. I think she started working with a vocal coach because she has regained stamina and her folds seem less swollen so you don't hear an airy unintended sound in her head voice like she did for a while.
Mijail Dimopoulos you can have a perfect, flawless technique but your audience might still not feel you. Christina may not have the best technique but she brings something else with her performances - something that can’t be taught. When the listener is being moved, then the singer is doing something right.
@@ylad0930 I feel that way with Broadway singers. I hear suck amazing technique but it doesn’t connect a lot of the time. I’d rather have the emotive ability and work on the technique personally. People will always remember how it made them feel over how perfect a run was. Whitney had both. Lauryn Hill had both. Mary J Blige is the perfect example of an emotive singer. You hear the pain in her singing and it connects with you.
This song help me thru one of the darkest days in my life.. suicidal thoughts n feeling helplessness n the tiredness of fighting. n thru this i learn to listen n depend on me. Tq xtina n Linda Perry for a great masterpiece
I really like your reactions to Christina's songs. . .I have loved this live performance since the first time I saw it years ago, when it was current. . .and thanks to you I still have a dumpling in my throat (as they say in the Czech Republic) and tears in my eyes! Thank you for another dimension of perception!🤍
thank you so much to upload this. i melted down. she is so good and sadly the people in the world only renember her as dirrty x tina. more...then her voice. she should be more famous exacly for this one...and many more. beautiful on CNN Heros was so amazing awesome!
VALOUISA don’t think that, there are those that don’t necessarily like her singing style and think she over sings (as I do) but she is very gifted and there are many, many moments that she has shown her gift. Love a singer for you, I love Celine. I’ve learned in 30 years of listening to music and having favorites, it doesn’t matter if anyone else feels the same thing I do when I hear a voice that moves me. ❤️
It's because the terminology is different for classical music. Head voice from men is known as falsetto because it was a "false voice" that emulated a woman's voice. And their head voice is the equivalent of mixed voice in contemporary music. Men and women have similar vocal cords as they all function similarly, but back in the early days of classical singing, we couldn't observe a person's vocal cords in action. So alot of the terminology was focused on sound, rather than observable changes. In contemporary music, men and women have access to any register, mixed, chest, head voice, falsetto, and whistle. That's where the confusion comes in.
the really best of falsetto is Mariah Carey ( actually, she barely ever did Head voice in her carrier, she always did falsetto). The Queen of Head voice is undeniably Sohyang ( she barely ever did Falsetto in her carrier, she always did perfect pitch, supported head voice).
Music and what was the song she sang live on I think MTV awards in the red dress? She was about as close to perfect as anyone can get and she was SITTING hitting notes INCREDIBLY.
I love your reactions! You should do "Makes Me Wanna Pray" - the live version on Ellen; "Ain't No Other Man" - the live version from the MTV Movie Awards; "Walk Away" live on the Tonight Show with David Letterman; "A Song for You" live on Ellen; "I Love You Porgy" from the Nina Simone tribute at the Grammy awards; "Stormy Weather" live at the AAMHC music special; "Tough Lover" from the movie Burlesque; "Slow Down Baby"; the acapella version of "Beautiful" from when she hosted SNL; "Bound to You"; "Candyman"; "Show me how you Burlesque"; "Something's Got a Hold on Me"; "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" live at the Disney Christmas Parade; and "Ain't no Way" from the Aretha Franklin tribute at the Grammy awards.
Women don’t have falsetto? We all have a head voice, even us that can’t “sing.” Love you man, love your reactions. Celine’s live version of “Ashes” on here from 5/23 is so nice.
There's no denying that her voice has soul, is strong is emotive, it's sad that because of her lack if technique her voice has diminished so much her being so young still. You don't have to sing perfect all the time, but in order to preserve that beautiful instrument she has she has to take care of it, look what happened to Adele, because of bad technique she developed nodules and Xtinas voice is ver delicate because of her tesitura. I loved this performance
The emotion Xtina emits is unmatched. No one can touch her.
Goose bumps. Chills. Speechless. To paraphrase a review about a dancer, but the same applies...others may have perfect technique, but she sings one note and she can break/open my heart.
That voice is a gift from the heavens.

That was a flawless performance.. I actually teared up. Not many can give u that feeling.
best Xtina song
Fernando Aleixo Marliere the best of Linda Perry’s songs
@@jak30341 okay but Christina interprets the song, it’s enough to write of course but the song can only be sung by a good singer like xtina.
She‘s a real vocalist 😍 She sounds so good ❤️ Love her... Can’t wait for her new album 😩😞
She is the QUEEN of ballads

Women have falsetto. I don't know who told you that women don't have falsetto because they do. Men have head voice too.
Nahuel who do you think has the best falsetto for a women. For me it would Cristina then maybe Ariana
Uncontained Chaos Christina and Leona 😊
Usually the ones who really can power head voice and falsetto easily are the women not men
