Kenwood TS690S(TS450S) common audio output issue...Easy Fix😁😁😁

Just a quick look at the kenwood ts690s(ts450s same chassis minus 6m) and a very common audio output problem seen many times. With a bit of patience and the right equipment, an easy fix.. i enjoyed the video very much very helpful to me , and I have a Kenwood ts 450s the capacitor in c104 is discolored it look the same as the one you showing your video but it does look like bulging out on top or bottom would you thing it would be bad thanks very much from W5ESH

I have the 450s and on the lowest setting on FM the power is around 8 watts . Can you tell me which pot will turn the FM output down to around 4 watts on its lowest setting

Hi same problem audio got board out and the Capacitor don’t look good not got of board yet see it’s a 470 uf 10v what would be a good replacement upgrade thank you

The PCB under my C104 was dissolved, or otherwise stripped, down to copper, so I replaced C104 even though it was within spec. I still have low power on TX. I removed and tested C99 and C101 as well, and they're within spec. Is there another common cause of low (10 or less wattage) output on a TS-450S besides C104, C99, or C101 leaking?

This fix is for issues with audio output from the internal speaker.
If you have issues with low TX power you need to look for faults in the Transmitter circuit.

yes, pin 4 is the output of the audio ic, so this is a very typical situation, Audio IC has plenty of output is being blocked by dead capacitor. cheers Brenton vk3cm

Can be a capacitor for sure in 850, but 850 has a few possibilities. cheers Brenton VK3CM
