- The thinking man's Gauntlet.
Take control of a squad of soldiers, each with different weapons and abilities in a mission to rescue trapped human prisoners from an alien-infested facility.
I have to admit, this game was pretty good and had a good combination of strategy and action. You have to use ammunition conservatively and also have to manage your squad's fatigue levels by finding food.
In addition to conventional weapons, you have 2 squad members with tools. One can temporarily extinguish the fireball monsters, while the other can weld shut the acid pool/pits on the floors. Also, 2 squad members can pilot the mobile weapon platforms and steam-roller a whole load of aliens.
Enjoy!

Played this endlessly!!!
Hearing the music and effects again is crazy.
THIS GAME WAS AWESOME!!!!!! Played it for hours and hours.
Me too!
I remember that this game blew my mind when I first got it. I got it from phar-mor drug store I think. A lot of stores had started ditching old C64 software. I think this was around 1991 to 1992. It was super cheap, and I wasn't sure what to expect.
When I got it home though, I was surprised by the look of it and all the choices I had for different classes. It was insanely hard though.
There are 2 versions - the beta/alpha that a lot of people seem to have played due to it being leaked and the final version (as seen in the video).
best music out of any vid game It puts you on edge.
I only had unfinished version back in the day. Nice to see the final version completed with functional battle unit, fire monsters, and replaced sprites for default aliens. This is as close as c64 gets to Alien Breed, nice game. Some changes would made this even better: More music, 2player option, quick keys for changing marines, more variation in level design and perhaps even some type level up system in RPG style. The ending is lazy as it gets, not even a picture :(
Maybe I played the unfinished version , I never got far ever.
Never saw it ....Nice, i like it. The music? Awesome!!!!
Played this game as a kid, always thought it was fascinating.
Never got to the end but I have to say:
THAT ENDING SUCKED!!
XD
You're a lucky that you've finished full version ;]. Cheers :}
I beat that game once but there was no end message, I heard there are two versions: one with end and second one without it, so maybe I've played this first one. However this game is awesome.
This game is a hard one to finish. Nobody would do this game on the Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis which I think looks terrific because the graphics on both systems look almost as real, including the music. But that did not happen.
Not really anything like Gauntlet, more like a Ken Grant special remix of Alien Syndrome to include resource management!!
Private Johnson. I should hope he does keep it private.
Ask Private Pants about it! ;P
@@christianherbst674 Or Private Koch.
I never got far in this game, I hope to learn how.
This game was awesome it could use a remake
I thought that also if the did that for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis since 1991-92. However, they did not do this.
So it's basically Gauntlet.
Does anyone know how they managed to put so many moving enemies on screen?
Used characters for cannonfodder monsters.
some of the character expertises (computer expert, tactical weapons, scientist) are just chatter or actually have a purpose?
Everything has purpose:
scientist is the only one that can throw water at corridor monsters
welder is the only one that can repair holes in the ground
Only blueprint readers can see level maps and locate humans to save
Only computer expert can use teleport: lose it and you're stuck on one level and cannot finish game
One character is faster moving like stamina (tactic experts)
One character is slower at getting fatigue
Only some characters can operate BU battle units
And they can use different weapons
You need to be diligent at preserving everybody's health and save ammo too
This game was well tought of
jaja que le hicieron,,, no era asi el juego
