For $149 not on sale it's still a great deal to get into welding!
Well, damn, I bought mine 4 or 5 years ago and still haven't opened it 😂 I should have waited til now, because I think I might have paid closer to 200 for mine ..maybe 175, it was on some kind of sale, I think.
I've seen it weld 1/4" on videos; have you done it, and have those welds held up over the years? I'd like to do some trailer work with it. Either way, I'm gonna try it and see for myself, but I'd like to hear some practical experience of longevity with real world use.
Compare it to the chicago electric. I have for 4 years still works. Will get rid of it when it breaks get the Titanium
Where do you buy metal like 1/4in thick plates or 1/8th in ones like you used?
Thanks brother now I'm a welder because of these video
Super simple, clear video! I know nothing about welding but I am a gearhead and this comes in handy!
I bought this welder and watched this video. Applying to marine welding firms tomorrow.
whoa cowboy, dont get ahead of yourself. first weld up a trailer hitch, trailer, and maybe repair the rusted out frame of your truck and fabricate an exhaust system. then next week go for the job.
I've had mine going on 5 years and it still amazes me how well this little unit runs. Also, it fits perfectly into a milk crate, which keeps it from getting banged up. I cut one vertical section, about 3", to help the gun and ground clamp slip in and out of the crate when starting or stopping for the day. Run the power cord back in the same hole you fed it out from, and its self contained. I used the strap to go from one corner diagonally across the crate to the other. Makes it super easy to transport around. I even cut a 3/16" plywood top so the machine is proteced on every side.
That's a great idea, thanks!
Thanks for the milk crate idea. 👍👍
I have had mine for about 3 months and I've really gotten fond of this little machine. I'm a self taught welder with only about 4 years of off and on experience but this welder has really made me more confident. It's just fun to work with!!!
Right on, thanks!
Happily subscribed, as a new welder myself, you've given me many tips and tricks, and helped my confidence somewhat in how I approach my work as a welder, thank you, I have another friend who LITTERLY started welding a week ago and I sent him a link to your videos, and he said " I like this guy because he helps make welding not some big and scary ordeal, it's a job"
Awesome, thank you!
Used it today to repair some horse corrals on my dads ranch and man I love this little welder and I use a miller tech at work I’d definitely recommend this to anyone new or experienced super convenient for home and field work can weld 1/4” steel no problem!!
Right on!
bought one when they first came out, ran it hard could never trip the duty cycle, can't remember how many spools I went thru but it was a lot building fences, repairs & a balcony build, finally last year I burned up the gun, the welder still fires up if I knew how to replace or repair the gun I would, probably going to buy a new one, the last one went thru hell for the $ a great product!
Right on, thanks!
@@-DIYPRO- your welcome
Thank you for the excellent video on this little work horse. Buying one next week. 🤙🏾🔥🔥🔥
Right on, thanks!
I picked one up recently. Coming from stick welding and mig with gas I was surprised at the good quality of this machine with flux core! It’s perfect for my outdoor use, I do exhaust work and can mount chops on Tacomas and it’s perfect. Can’t beat the price!
Really nice video explanation. Nice job.
Thank you!
Great video man, thank you!
Right on, thanks!
Thanks for tips !
Whoa, I’m feeling the slander only 15 seconds into the video. Walk of shame? I love HF. Walk out with half a lifetimes worth of tools for the price of a snapon socket set.
I shouldn't have said it like that since I do love HF as well!
Do one on the DuraTech 140Amp 3-In-1
I'll have to add that one to the list! Thanks!
Does this just plug into a regular house wall outlet?
I just bought one of these two weeks ago and your setting on the machine are different than mine. I have no 3/16 settings for .030 wire.
I'll have to double check on mine, I thought they had the same sticker but maybe they changed the settings a bit.
What did they tweaked? Looks like same as before. And why doesn’t mig170 doesn’t have wire feed button this flux cord does.
I should not have said tweaked since that makes it sound like there are differences in the machine itself but from what I can tell it is only consumables that they changed. Not sure why the other Titaniums don't have a cold feed button, in reality since most my other machines don't have it i always forget and just pull the trigger.
Can you plug/ use this regular house outlet??
Yep, this one uses regular 120 house power. Only thing you need to watch for is if you are running on max settings you'll need a 20 amp breaker.
New subscriber here...
Any idea what size generator needed to run this 125?
Able to handle a 20amp draw at 110v - 2200w minimum, 2500w better.
@opa_plays_mw5318 thank you!
I have one like this , has a light indicator light on, but doesn’t work
Somebody can tell me what’s wrong with this?
Thank you
Yep all I use for cords are 10 gage
Right on, haven't had any issues running it with mine, should have also mentioned it's a 25' cord.
Gonna buy one just to practice but I wanna know if I need gas for it?
No gas, this one is a flux core wire only machine.
No
but u should make sure u got 20 or better a 25amp breaker
The feeder wheel has to be flipped over if your using 0.035 wire it’s marked you will see it when you take it off
True, make sure it has the correct roller.
Could I weld a fence with this machine?
As long as it's 3/16" or thinner than yes. Do be careful since most metal fence is galvanized. That smoke is on another level and will do damage if not wearing a respirator even outside.
But what did they change?
I should not have said tweaked since that makes it sound like there are differences in the machine itself but from what I can tell it is only consumables that they changed.
How to set up for sheet metal ?
Car repair.
Spend more than 25 on a sheild
Bro walk of shame fuck no harbor freight actually sells good shit now and Ik I own snapon pretty much everything
I've done some deep diving into Harbor Freight, their tool quality, and marketing recently (after this video) and I have to agree. HF has done a 180 from 10 years ago and are actually putting out decent stuff.
I agree with this on many things. I used their 1/2 and 3/8 impact sockets for over a decade in a shop. I had to replace the 19mm after about 10 years because I cracked it getting a swollen lug nut out of it. HF didn't even hesitate. Their warranty doesn't technically cover commercial use, but they didn't even ask. I was in uniform.
Their titanium welders are all known to be good quality.
I've been abusing their 23 gallon air compressor for over a decade. My jack is about the same age.
The only tool I've managed to kill is a high speed air grinder that I probably could have fixed, but it was cheap to replace.
