Unless you go to a chain from Taiwan that sells their boba, tbh the taste is super different. There is definitely Americanized/foreign boba and original/Taiwanese styles. I grew up between Taiwan and America and have also seen the evolution of the drink since I was a kid in the 90s in California. This is just my opinion, but I think I’m right lol

I remember the days of when I was younger that whenever it was the holidays, me and my family used to always go to Chinese restaurants in China Town in London and order a meal and bubble tea from time to time. It was actually served in a cocktail glass as well, I managed to finish it most of the time and there were other times when I couldn't. I miss those times, but now there's a whole load of bubble tea places around London so I'm thankful I can drink to my heart desires.

I had my student exchange in Taiwan and I drank bubble tea at least 3-4 times a week since it is so commonplace in Taiwan. It was such a wonderful period in my life! Bubble tea in Taiwan is significantly cheaper than other countries because it originated from Taiwan. In Singapore here, the most popular boba chains sell drinks that are almost twice the price of their counterparts in Taiwan under the same franchise.... It is so expensive!
