So my friend was telling me all the things he read about this movie and its background plot that we only really got hints and brief mentions to...how nick Offerman's president refused to leave office after his second term, and started executing his political rivals, disbanding the fbi, etc, and that the director said he picked California and texas to team up to illustrate how his acts were so aggregious that it drove two of the most opposite states together. Im glad that the movie didn't get heavy handed with any political message, but i really wish some of that had been in the movie

Interesting. That would have been interesting to see in the film. I am happy that it was not super heavy handed though.
