Lose weight, but dont TRYHARD. Just walk more and eat 200-300kcal less, thats a minimum everyone can do that. Drink water, no drugs, eat nonprocessed food if you can. Thats quite it, rest is genetics.

Reality is drinking a gallon of water a day is overkill and not necessary it can also deplete you of electrolytes that can lead to cramping and you need also electrolytes for heart health and drinking to much water will make you lose potassium which is necessary for cardiovascular health

Euhm, the kidneys actually balance sodium levels in your body. Unless you change your electrolyte intake drastically your body will not store more water in your cells. You can look defined will having a high sodium intake. On the other hand stress/cortisol levels can definetly change "puffiness" by making the body store more water in and between cells.
