Well for my part, since I already have a request in for it, I am going to go with "Rocket's Tail." If there are to be four then I would also suggest "Pull Out The Pin" "Leave it Open" and the official video for "This Woman's Work"
I bought the first three albums when they were released and was blown away by all of them. Then, when I was 19, I saw Kate perform Hounds of Love on a TV show, the name of which escapes me due to being blown off my sofa by this new version of her. My mouth hit my lap and I was transfixed yet again. This, I thought, was the Kate I'd been waiting for. Her voice was like a divine needle being thrust into my eardrums. Now I'm 58 and have yet to be blown away like that by a female artist.
Thanks, Lee for bringing us such interesting picks. Kate's voice is her instrument of choice, and one of a kind. Great reaction, L33. Blessings all. Peace
Massive kudos to you for taking on more Kate, especially Get Out of my House!!! It’s mental but brilliant. As an Englishman who has idolised our Kate all these years but acutely aware that she was pretty much ignored in the US these past 40 odd years, as an American who clearly loves her uniqueness and artistry , you are quite rare my friend. More Kate please.
Kate is absolutely her own genre. And the woman is an artistic genius. All of her albums, like The Beatles (as a band and solo artists), have very distinct sounds and personalities -- and energies. "Night of the Swallow," actually segues from the title cut from THE DREAMING, which is yet another completely different song from her. and the didgeridoo is more prominent in that. You really ought to seek out her whole catalogue, whether you ever react or not. Another particular song I would recommend is "How To Be Invisible" from her album AERIAL, which has another long suite as part of it. A couple songs off her album SENSUAL WORLD that I recommend are "Heads We're Dancing" and "Rocket's Tail."
Get out of my House is a textbook example of the Priapus/Hestia archetype, especially the man turning into a Donkey at the end 🐴👀 as well as the body-house metaphor.
Excellent, thanks, great picks. After 40 years I still don't understand Suspended in Gaffa, but that's ok, and Get Out Of My House gets better with every listen. When The Dreaming dropped I was in full depressed introspectivity mode, my bedroom had old-style Victorian shutters on the windows and I kept them shut the whole year I lived there, i'm sure a caught a vitamin deficiency. Anyway, The Dreaming was perfect madhouse darkness for me, I alternated that with primal screaming along to Tears For Fears first album. Thank god I escaped from that situation and found sex and dance music.
As with most Kate Bush its abstract and works on many levels. My understanding of the main theme of suspended in gaffa is about writer's block. She is getting really frustrated about not being able to move forward with ideas and her creative thinking. Feet of mud.
There are some Fripp tracks you could throw behind Get Out of My House, a cut from Exposure, the name of the cut I can't recall but it has a father daughter fight someone recorded and there is a loop of "your house""my house""your house""my house, well get out, there's the door"
Nice mix of my favorites… the Dreaming was my album… I’d heard of Kate bush… interesting creative …I’ll follow her when I can , my budget for albums was pitiful and there was so much going on in the early 80/… then I heard get out of my house or saw the video and immediately went out and got the album….if she’ll go there where else will she go… not disappointed the album is packed, needle drop to the end. She’d won me over.
Get Out Of My House is her haunted house song. The male voice is the demon on the home. Do This Woman's Work, Rocket's Tail & Reaching Out from The Sensual World.
“The Ninth Wave” is her masterpiece. Pretty much perfect… but I slightly prefer TOTAL Kate of “THE DREAMING” as my favorite album, where she was in complete control and went wild with it. A brilliant, unhinged journey that, to me, left an indelible impression. All the guard rails were gone, and while it might not have been a commerical success, it was an artistic triumph. The best way I could describe Kate Bush is “Brilliant and Fearless” for her musical approach.
She's incredible. Le conçierge chez moi...(the doorman/caretaker at my place)... won't let you in for love nor money. Please fill in the gaps on 'The Dreaming'. T.G.I.F. ✌🏼😎🎶💜✨️🕊
Your generation are computerized and technically equipped when you are born and raised until primal SCREAMS mean Raw human and very organic which takes your minds out of the electronics and computers. When it comes to artist like Kate Bush it's all about human organics. She is about "ART' like YES who is about "ART." Your generation know a lot about computers and nothing about "ART." Kate get people back to "ART." Good reaction.
Grrr. Flaky connection ate my previous comment. The Dreaming is Kate at her most experimental, and the second half of Hounds of Love is just as edgy. Her next record "The Sensual World" has a different vibe but is no less deep, and marks the border between what I think of as Kate's mid period records and her later ones. Going to be hard to condense them all down to just 4 songs, but there have been clear favorites expressed here in the comments which largely match my own.
In the early 2000's there were a lot of Eastern bloc-folk-influenced acts like Regina Spektor, Devendra Banhart, Devotchka, etc. Now, I realize they're just imitating Kate Bush.
What tracks would you like to see in the final (?) video next week for our spotlight on Kate? Let Lee & I (Lol, never said that before) know here!
Pull out the Pin and Aerial
Well for my part, since I already have a request in for it, I am going to go with "Rocket's Tail." If there are to be four then I would also suggest "Pull Out The Pin" "Leave it Open" and the official video for "This Woman's Work"
Also from The Dreaming: Sat in Your Lap, There Goes a Tenner, Pull Out the Pin.
I agree with Pull out the pin and Aerial.
Rocket’s Tail.
Thanks Lee squared. Four very interesting songs. I liked the third one the most. Kate is sooo different.
ìBravo, Lee! There are videos for most of these songs, they're well worth watching.
Kate is unique artist ... really enjoyable .. thank you Lee and Lee
I love that you said her voice is like an instrument! Ive heard so many people say that 😁❤️😁❤️ Makes me so happy!! Shes my very favorite weirdo!! 😍

Get out of my house, is so visceral and powerful, gives me goosebumps every time I hear it!
This record is timeless.
She is so dang talented ❤ I love Get Out of My House
She has a whole collection of music videos you need to see. By the time of her third album she was calling all the shots.
Nobody does, sincere, damn near blood-curdling screams like Kate. She is fearless in composition, production and execution. Genius!
The best later Kate Bush tracks are THIS WOMAN'S WORK, REACHING OUT, & ROCKET'S TAIL from Sensual World.
Kate is her own genre. Please include ‘Rocket’s Tail’ from her sixth album The Sensual World in your final selection.
So theatrical and expressive. It was exciting. Thank you, Lee and Lee.
Night of the Swallow reveals something new every time I listen. Every time. How does she do tha 2-tone thing with her voice in the opening? How?? 🤯
Kate said in an interview for making this album that she drank loads of chocolate milk to make her voice mucusy before singing the rough parts.
@ it really was the night of the swallow.
Thanks, Lee for bringing us such interesting picks. Kate's voice is her instrument of choice, and one of a kind. Great reaction, L33. Blessings all. Peace
Both of these albums are pure magic. I am so glad you picked her to feature. She has so many great songs!

About Suspended in Gaffa. Gaffa = gaffer's tape (used in in theatre productions) = duct tape.
I can't wait for next week 😊
Ahead of her time? What music today has this originality? This is just timeless.
BIG SKY. Great song. Great Vid!
I've always loved Kate's talent!
Of these tracks, Get Out of My House is the only one that still retains its original power. It may be the best thing Kate has ever done.
Lol NO.
Your channel is the best, Lee ❤ so many amazing artists. Thank you ❤
Get out of my House is a textbook example of the Priapus/Hestia archetype, especially the man turning into a Donkey at the end 🐴👀 as well as the body-house metaphor.
Thanks yet again Lee and Lee, not much to say that's not been said already. I appreciate this video, awesome songs, and appreciate you. Thanks again!

Hounds of Love and I have so many memories together 😅😢

Kate Bush admitted during interviews that she's written "Get out of my house" after she had seen "The shining" by S. Kubrick (released around 1980).

Get Out Of My House is nearly terrifying.
Kate is a genius!
Kate (along with Neil Finn) is one of my two favorite artists. Night of the Swallow is in competition for my favorite Kate tune
Have you done Under ice yet?? I can't remember who ive seen react to it lol
Lee, which Moody Blues vinyl do you have cued up there to your right on that vertical turntable?
I fucking love The Dreaming. It’s the soundtrack to my life
If you want something really off the wall, try her Director's Cut of Lily. Bonkers, but truly wonderful.
The digeridoo is on the title track, btw. 'Pull Out the Pin' is also a fave. 😊
She's incredible.
Le conçierge chez moi...(the doorman/caretaker at my place)... won't let you in for love nor money.
Please fill in the gaps on 'The Dreaming'. T.G.I.F.
✌🏼😎🎶💜✨️🕊
The Don’t Give Up video with Peter Gabriel is great.
Get Out Of My House was inspired by The Shining. 🗝🔑 🔪
"Take my shoes off and throw them in the lake!"

I've gotten over seasonal depression by instead thinking of it as hibernation. in the winter I like to go inward and it's natural 👍

I had a license plate frame in the 80's that said "Am I Suspended in Gaffa?"
Please go back to never forever, and the track 'The Wedding List'.
In the early 2000's there were a lot of Eastern bloc-folk-influenced acts like Regina Spektor, Devendra Banhart, Devotchka, etc. Now, I realize they're just imitating Kate Bush.
