Having recently reviewed and ridden the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer third edition of 2020, I wanted to ride my own V7 Racer first edition of 2012 back to back. Moto Guzzi have stayed completely true to this Cafe Racer, having the same feel, charm and character, however updated with more safety and rider aids.
This is still one of the boldest and most stunning cafe racers on the market. An extremely bold Italian hand built work of art.

I bought a V7 Racer (i) in November last year and it has been informative for me to watch this video. It may even have something to do with my buy... so Cheers from Finland!

Nice review, I enjoyed it. I've got the 2014 V7 Racer, so the first edition as well. I really love mine and the styling is spot on! It's the most fun on twisty country lanes, you can throw it around, which is great fun. I do agree on tires, especially on the V7, they make or break the bike.

Thanks for this - and especially thanks for the comment about tires - I just bought a 2014 V7 Racer (#941) with 1,922 miles on the clock and it's occurred to me that there's a pretty solid chance it's got 2014 tires on it. I did that in the rain on a 73 750 Triumph - I don't need to do it on the Guzzi. Don't know how I spaced on that - I'm usually pretty smart about that stuff. But yeah - great video. I had an 04 750 Breva which was almost the same bike with a very different look - I bought it despite it's look - I bought it because I wanted a smallblock Guzzi. Regretted selling it ever since the day. This one looks like what I wanted the Breva to be. I just wanted to make sure (after I already bought it) that it'll be what I expect it to be - and from this vid - it's exactly what I want - right down to the older feel.

I have this exact bike. And you are correct about the gear box. It is tricky trying to slip into Neutral.

First editions first year was 2011, I have number 18. 2012 is the same bike tho. The ONLY negative of the black edition is the tank. On hot days it expands and creates cracks in the paint. They would switch to a metal tank later on.

I've also got a 2014 V7 Racer (North American spec). Love the bike. My only complaint is Guzzi used a bad fuel filter as it's half plastic/half metal meant for diesel tractors. The correct part is a full metal part as the plastic gets soft and bloats when used with ethanol fuel. It was a bugger to change as I had to pull the fuel tank. My cheap, thin headlight plastic bucket cracked last year. I've ordered a metal replacement which will take an LED lamp so I'll be doing that once things warm up

I own the first version of the V7 racer #18 which is why calling the later version a first edition didn't make sense. But Italians....
