Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and 801 - Full Review and comparison
Husqvarna make some of the most unusual motorcycles around. Love them or hate them, they are bold, unique and unusual in design.
In this video I have a look at 2 of their naked offerings in the shape of the Svartpilen 401 and the brand new Svartpilen 801. Swedish for Black Arrow, the one being the smaller entry level sibling and the other a very exciting addition to their lineup. One of these 2 bikes really blew me away when it comes to what I expected vs what I experienced and they definetely grew on me.
Very unique to the point that nothing looked similar before and who knows what will follow, so they might just become collectable in years to come..........

BMW has an acronym for athleticism, sportiness and touring and that is "XR". A few episodes ago I reviewed this bikes bigger sibling in the form of the S1000XR. In 2019 BMW first announced the launch of the smaller sibling based loosely on the BMW GS850F, sharing a frame and a motor, just bored out 50cc bigger. This makes perfect sense, to have such a comfortable bike with a very perky and torq...

I have one of these waiting for me in the US where I'm not at. Watching your video cause I miss it. However, the brake is shit. Inconsistent and weak for me. I had the whole font system changed/upgraded. I'm also not happy with the 6th gear. It's very unusable. You let it drop below 6k RPM, it's not coming back in any hurry without a down ship. So you do have to work a lot even on the highway. But now I miss it. I'll probably have to wait till next May to ride it.

How did you find the R1250R handled in Road mode? When I test rode the one I eventually bought the front end was all over the place turning at junctions and roundabouts. A chap testing the R1250RS said the same thing, that it felt like the tyre pressures were way out. Once I switched to Dynamic it was a completely different bike, very planted and handled impeccably. When I asked the dealership they said I probably wasn't used to riding a bike with a steering damper, that they tended to be floppy at slow speeds stiffening up at higher speeds. I own several bikes all with steering dampers and none ever felt so uncontrollable, even my Rocket 3 GT which is a behemoth of a bike is rock steady even at slow speeds. When I took my wife as pillion the bike seemed to adjust to it pretty well but she remarked that the back end was bouncy. I've heard of issues with the Electronic suspension in other models and wondered if like the drive shaft issue it's across the range?

As always a super comprehensive review, your channel deserves more views. These CE models are very clever designs but they are far too expensive compared to petrol bikes, especially if they are aimed at the younger demographic. I don’t know how many CE 02’s have been sold in the UK but I believe the more powerful CE 04 has only sold @ 180 in the UK since its launch. If I lived in a City and wanted an electric bike, neither of which apply, I think I’d prefer the British built Maeving. If you have never heard of this bike look it up, the 7kW RM1S is £7,495 which compares to the 4kW CE 02 at £7,450 or £8,450 for the 11kW CE 02 model. All much more expensive than comparable petrol bikes although Maeving do a 3kW model for about £5 grand which is getting there on price although it’s another £1,000 for the dual battery which doubles your range to 80 miles 🇬🇧

For me I was struggling to decide between the 750 and 850 (non ADV). 30years experience, 6'3" and live in a city . I rarely do any off road, do touring sometimes. I ended up going for 850 mainly because it comes with a lot higher spec than 750 (very basic) and also I much prefer a higher seat bike. Actually when I looked at adding on hand guards, centre stand, heated grips, cruise control the price of the 750 was coming close to the 850. The 750 was definitely more nimble and more suited so my daily uses (<30km). I would rather the 750 wheel set up but but the height issue is a big factor for me, and the hands to to shoulder angle.
