Good heavens Mark that boy of yours is a mountain of a man. It must have been fun feeding him through his teenage years! My sons are the same. Both are big bruisers but kind. We are blessed men!
I lined my horse stalls with black oak 1x12s about 35 years, they were so green they squirted water as they were nailed up. I never had to replace one and never had a horse chew on them. I was commercial performance horse stable with 19 stalls. Good choice of lumber.
Just admiring The Eddie Horvath’s work ethics. He works hard but smart. The young guys helping out from time to time wear no gloves or protective equipment and hzz as be lots of wasted movements. Partially that comes from age and partially from knowing the job to be done.
I can’t believe how beautiful the lumber is you are sawing !! You say it’s going in a horse barn for use a dividers between stalls. Happy belated Eddy Horvath! Hope you had a grand day! I’d like to see a shut down sequence of the mill sometime. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming!
You really need a Logrite cant hook or peavey. Beats the wood handle ones all to .... hands down. You would like it better, like so many others have found out already. Great to see the big saw on and running well.. tks for the video.
Not many mills can comfortably run a 56. Every time I see this in action I am comparing it to mine. Never turn your back as I might borrow it one day Mark, LOL.

So Thanks Again and Boy Howdy everything is running SLICK! GBWYall!
Hey guys, love your videos. I just wanted to comment on what you said in the beginning of this video about blade size. I have a Oscar 36 band saw and the biggest log I've cut was 32 inches diameter and as strait as a pencil. Lucky I had the carriage behind the log otherwise I would have never cleared the height. But I've cut bigger and always welcome big logs. It's gives opportunity to quarter saw. I bought a chain saw with a 36 inch bar just for that. It was a few years ago, but after a hurricane I went around and collected big logs, most were pecan (pee-can) and some oak. with that said it doesn't really matter how big your mill is, it's how you deal with the logs. BTW I am very envious of your mill, the live deck, and log turner. With love from N. central Florida.
When you said Mr. Horvath was 88 today, I though, "Holy cow Eddy looks great, and how is he doing that work." Then I realized you were talking about his dad. No, Eddy doesn't look like he could be 88, that's why I was shocked ;-)
I like the laser, and was thinking it would be nice to have a horizontal laser to shoot the height of the cut on the log, it may or may not help, but I would probably need one.

The larger sawmill bits in the circle blades are quite a a bit more forgiving than the bandwagon blades but the will dull. Good clean logs that have been carried and not drug won’t need much debarking. We keep a water hose at the mill to occasionally knock off excessive grit and dirt
