Stunning . My late husband died new year day 2014 suddenly,we had been divorced some years but still on friendly terms. when my daughters and I were talking about what was to be sung at his funeral right away I remembered this hymn it was his favourite. Still brings tear to my eye. As a family we are going though a lot at the moment and for some reason found myself thinking about this hymn. X
Yet another exquisite example of the musical genius of Dr. Ryan Murphy and his arrangements. This Choir and Orchestra does the song such great honor under his baton. Would that he arrange all of the classic masterpieces throughout history. He will be known as one of the greatest composers and arrangers of all time alongside Handel and the rest of them. Pure inspiration. His music carries the message straight to the heart and soul.
Truly beautiful. Thank you Ryan Murphy for such an inspiring arrangement. I lost two sons in less than three years and we sung this at my younger son’s funeral. It wasn’t in the church hymn book and I was so pleased to find this arrangement. ‘I feel the promise is not vain, that morn will tearless be.’
Stunningly beautiful arrangement. Perfectly sung. Hugely powerful. My Mother's funeral hymn - RIP. "I traced the rainbow through the rain....and feel the promise is not in vain....than morn shall tearless be"
Lovely rendition. I have never heard this song. I am glad to discover new songs like this one sung by this great choir. What a lovely arrangement too. Thanks Mr Murphy!
Simply amazing!!! I love the MTC so so much and I’d love to sit and blessed live by your ministration. Bless you all as you share the love of Jesus with your amazing voices.
Something greater than ourselves. A love that calls to us. A love that comes out of us to give to others....All other ambitions ... unworthy and worthless.
To imagine entering Heaven gates to a Celestial Choir that is endlessly better than these robust, beautiful voices is just...achingly unfathomable. And I look so forward to it!
Oh Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go - George Matheson 1882. (1) O LOVE that wilt not let me go. I rest my weary soul in thee. I give thee back the life I owe. That in thine ocean depths its flow. May richer, fuller be. (2) O LIGHT that followest all my way. I yield my flickering torch to thee. My heart restores its borrowed ray. That in thy sunshine's blaze its day. May brighter, fairer be. (3) O JOY that seekest me through pain. I cannot close my heart to thee. I trace the rainbow through the rain. And feel the promise is not vain. That morn shall tearless be. (4) O CROSS that liftest up my head. I dare not ask to fly from thee. I lay in dust life's glory dead. And from the ground there blossoms red. Life that shall endless be.
Give a listen to a version of this song done by The Westminster Chorus. They are singing in The Petrikirche Cathedral in Dortmund, Germany. (as an aside, the construction of the Cathedral began in the year 1322) You will not be disappointed and I doubt you will soon forget what you hear.
Vicki, I just found and listened to this lovely arrangement, and saw your comment and question. Did anyone answer you? I'm a Mormon, and we joyfully welcome anyone who would like to learn more or join with us. Check out mormon.org as a place to start with questions, or find an LDS meetinghouse near you and come worship with us.
vicki asher did anyone respond to your request “but how”? If you call 1-877-537-6600 you can speak with a missionary and find out more information and receive your own copy of the Book of Mormon. Best of luck to you in this journey.
I am looking forward in the next few days in becoming a Mormon. I seem to fit in well with them in many ways especially when it comes to music; both singing and playing a couple of musical instruments.
My father wrote this on piece of paper to play this for him on his dying bed on ventilator. Till we meet again Daddy love you
