Keep going. Yes, more accessories.
Thank you Dennis for this series. As a novice woodworker and retired on a fixed income this series allows me to be more flexible with my projects and to enjoy woodworking. Thank you Sir!
Thank you, Dennis from the United States! As always another exceptional China tool video. This series is priceless for woodworkers.
Waiting for the second part! Thanks a lot.
Best China Tools episode yet! Thanks, Dennis!
As always, objective, substantive for everyone. I don't know how you do it Dennis, but in your films everyone will find something interesting for themselves - both hobbyist and professional! Every time I watch a new episode of your clips, it's a small celebration at my house. I always say to myself: why dig around, why search when Dennis will surely sniff out what's most interesting anyway? :))))
Very good Dennis, more please 😂. I recently bought the chamfer tool, very pleased with it, the price is great for a tool that isn’t going to be used very often 👍.
Thank you, I love your China Tools series. Especially for me as a hobbyist, it really doesn't always have to be the tools from the top shelf. And your recommended products have always more than served their purpose so far!
Greetings from Germany
Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. They are very helpful and enjoyable to watch. You are one of my favorite content creators.
Always looking forward to another episode- well done 👍
Hi Dennis. Thanks for another great video.
In the next one, I would like to see an affordable MFT fence with a stop block for repetitive cuts.
I hope this is possible.
And speaking of affordable dog holes, I drew my MFT design in Sketchup and took it to a local CNC shop. They charge 1 US dollar per minute of usage. My MFT measures 150 by 85 cm, and the drilling of the dog holes was around 20 US. Very affordable!
Greetings from Mexico.
I finished work, I go home, Dennis put out new video, on exactly the tools I was wondering whether it would be good or not, I am happy.
Nice job Dennis. What we need now is a Chinese affordable version of the UJK parf guide system, so we can all afford to make our own MFTs 😮
Excellent information as always. You should come out with your own line of MFT worktops and workstations - that black MDF design you have going is really stylish and practical!
Several years ago I 3D printed an insert type chamfer tool for my benches. Oversized the top with raised ribs for grip worked well and less issues with marring because it is plastic. Cost under $2 of plastic and at least an hours CAD time for say maybe $60-90 - huge saving 🤣
Thanks a bunch for the reviews, Dennis! 😃
Really awesome options there!!!
About more? Absolutely, bring it on!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Greater video, Dennis. One tip that I learned, when you are reaming your dog holes, put a little bit of paraffin (candle wax) on the reamer. It makes the operation much smoother.
great tip
Thank you sir for sharing valuable information!!!! I really appreciate your skill set!!!
Het is well ironisch om het over goedkoop te hebben in een werkplaats als deze. Fijn dat je ook aan ons modale mensen denkt. Hoe dan ook, ik geniet van al je video’s. Ga zo door! 😇
I love these reviews! I am debating a Microjig only or a Microjig/bench dog grid for my workbench. Just FYI, the link the the Parf Guide system is incorrect. Thanks for continuing to provide great information on affordable options!!
Thank you for your video Dennis, highly appreciate it! Would definitely enjoy more items. May I ask which combination square you are using at around 7:08? Much obliged! Lukas
Love these videos, I'm almost done with the remodeling of my shop and next stop is creating (or buying) a mft top.
Would be great if there was a decent cheaper alternative to the ujk parf guide system to make it myself... Any recommendations there?
Second part, please :)
Also, I have been following you since one of your very first videos. In this video you came back to older reviews a lot. Maybe a quick check if you would still rate 5 stars and above this amount of stars would be very interesting.
That are great tools, thanks! But the prices you show are different for existing users… FYI
Amazing! Still love your content!
Dennis amazing tools and introduction to them. Will buy a couple of them, but the thing i am more curious about is is there any tiols or template available which makes easier to make perfect accurate size dogholes
Not to my knowledge, there are others, but not affordable. They all cost too many.
Hi, Denis. Always great reviews.
QUESTION: When creating (or buying) a MFT
made of MDF, would it be helpful/reasonable
or foolish, to treat the dog holes with CA glue,
to keep them from deforming, due to humidity
and wear and also create a good bearing surface
for dogs an accessories? Thank you. 😁🖖✌
Hi, Cool thinking. The problem is, that I do not have that issue, so I never have thought about it. I have a heated shop and not that much change that it effect the holes. I do have sometimes that a hole is too tight and with a reamer easy to fix.
I would always start without any treatment. I would try to get MDF that is the most resistance to moisture and wait and see how big the problem actually is. When it is such big of a problem that it needs extra care, I think I would start with the direction you are thinking. Not sure if it would be CA glue or other treatment, but something to seal the holes would be my first thinking. All the best.
Hi, looking for the video on the little MFT table you are using. Seems to be compact and height adjustable……
Thank you Dennis, another fantastic video from you. Of course I would like to see more budget-friendly options.
I'm going to make my first workbench soon, but I'm really unsure whether I should use dogholes. Precisely because the accessories are often so expensive. I'm just going to try it now.
Did I miss a video of yours somewhere? I am very curious about the plywood worktop. Did you use a dovetail cutter here or a cutter for a T slot?
I do not know, if you missed a video :-) but this plywood worktop I got from UJK. I just try it, but so far I think it is very nice. However, as a main workbench, I would just use the dog holes. No T-slots or Micro Jig slots. Everything falls in these slots and it is hard to get out. Cables are stuck in these slots when you do sanding. So, I do not like them at all for a main workbench. For a secondary workbench, that you want to use to create a set up to make a run of drawers or something else, I like it very much.
Thanks
My cut line in my benchtop is not a damage. It is a feature. It gives a cleaner cut, because it is zero clearance on the underside of the material.
😁😁 I can understand what you mean. As long you keep it at the same spot, it is not that bad anyway. However, technically, it is not a zero clearance, because the sawblade goes in an upward direction, so splinters will excist at the upper side. That is why you can now also buy the plungesaws with scoring blade, or it is best to first make a tiny cut to create a clean cut at the surface.
I have a Makita plunge saw. It has a scoring setting where you make a precut of just a few mm. It works great with a track. But the saw also breaks through the material on the underside. And there, a cut line in the table top gives a cleaner cut. Sometimes it matters. Sometimes it does not.
It mostly matters when you actually plunge.
Dennis, please give us a solution on building MFT holes on a budget. I can't find any MFT templates in Banggood or Aliexpress.
Part 2 please
Are the guide rail benchdogs sold in pairs? Great content by the way 😊
Hi Dennis, Thank you for your insights, I have followed your advice on tools many times. Always looking out for the perfect tool.
Question, is the depth gauge you use to measure the height of the dogs (7:09) a Bridge City DS-6v2. Rather expensive, Any thoughts on its quality or do you think there is a better one out there?
Yes ease. More
The planing stops have too much slop. I use it on cross cuts with thin pieces because they're low profile, but it's easy to skew it by pushing the board against one of the corners whilst cutting. I think a few very low profile dogs would be better if using it for my situation.
I can understand your point. But I have mine over 2 years and they fit perfectly and slide perfect inside with no play. When I compare that to my Benchdogs, that also have a little bit of play. But for cutting, I think a benchdog would be better. And when you want 100% accuracy, you need expanding bench dogs.
I do miss a good balanced mix of China tools as this seems to have become a marketing platform for Banggood tools only, despite there being several other good options for China tools which are cheaper, would be interesting to see how those other suppliers measure up.
The tools Denis reviews are not Made by Banggood.
They are simply sold on the Banggood site, just
like buying from "amzn".
I can understand your point of view. I choose to select one platform, because it creates more possibilities. But by choosing one platform, I feel more free to tell what I want, because we have a relation ship, they know me and know that I take these reviews seriously. Most of these tools are also there on other platforms and I also realize that on some platforms there are products that they not offer on Banggood. But when I see something that I think is interesting on other platforms, they are mostly willing to offer it as well. As a result, I can understand you see me as a marketing platform for Banggood. The only think I can say about that is, that I choose the products I like or I think are interesting for my viewers.
There is a Type-A and a Type-B on the Enjoywood quick clamps. Does anyone know which is the 19mm and which is the 20mm? Thanks!
I prefer aluminium dogs, so that if you catch a cutting edge on them somehow, it's less likely to permanently damage the cutter.
Agree!
How about 3d printed options?
Cool stuff, Dennis.
Do you know if Vieko changed their name, or if where they bought out by Enjoywood? Links to Vieko tools in my purchase history now takes me to identical Enjoywood items.
Yes, that is correct. A lot of Veiko products are continued under Enjoywood. Same product
I festool from China too? 0:09
10:55 I always did well following your recommendation but a heads up Veiko's clamp quality, that must've crashed down hard since your review! I bought eight clamps when they were on offer a few months back (50% price to the Bessey) but I wouldn't buy them again: first the red paint chips - don't mind the cosmetics, but it tells a tale. The next stop was rust on the exposed parts - not ideal. The fact that a ratcheting mechanism tends to slip when engaging initially makes them a bit fiddly, but still: not good, not terrible. But what IS terrible: during a glue up none of them would clamp! I was flabbergasted, thinking I engaged them into a hole or that the board was suddenly skewed. Nope! Instead all of their 90° angle had turned into a 110° angle the moment full pressure was applied - the steel is SO soft that they simply caved in. I managed to bend them back in shape one-by-one but I can only use them for e.g. holding down a work piece when sanding, cutting, etc. but they're completely unuseable for glue ups or anything requiring full force.
That is indeed a completely different story. I do not see it happening with the clamps I have. When you fully tighten them they create a force of 130kg. That is a lot. At the second click they create 50kg of pressure and I think there is where you should stop in most cases. That said, mine do not give any sign of stress.
@@HookedonWood At effectively 16€ a piece on discount I don't wanna complain too loud as they still come in handy after all for all the lighter duty stuff or when you need a lot, but that was the first time I've been disappointed in Veiko in all those years.
Does someone have the reference of the black material on top of everything wood in his shop ? The dust produce don’t remind me wood more composite.
The Black material is Black MDF. In the Netherlands widely available. In US it is harder to get in understand
@@HookedonWood thanks for the info. In France the « casual » mdf is more chips of wood clued together. I find some of mass-dyed black mdf but it’s small plate (30x30,40x60 by 3mm thick) and it’s quite expensive (50e for the 40x60 for 10 plate)
In Mexico, it is called Forescolor
Chinese don't make this article?
Domino Joiner Station: Woodpeckers MORTMATCH
Not that I know of. Never saw it on Banggood or other Chinese platform.
