Hi from Tennessee. I like your camp. If it doesn't cost to much I would research on putting your camper on a new frame. That might help it last for a longer time.
I was thinking that too, a new frame could solve the cracking problem once and for all. The frame Bex has is so thin and rusted, I imagine it will be a continuing problem.
Yup would recommend a new frame also , that one there is just a temp , good idea to have the welder measure and build a new frame now while this fix holds it together for the time being, be sure to rust prevent the new one with a good marine grade primer and paint. Great personality, best wishes, God Bless
I agree, slim potato head got a new frame in aluminum (i think) for less weight and rust control. I'd get a hold of the company and see if thats an option and cost? or find a person who can copy your frame from scratch. As long as the shell is in good shape and has a few more years in her, this could be a consideration Bex. All my best and stay safe and healthy. much love
I am not laughing at your misfortune but your video literally cracked me up…… love your sense of humor Bex.🤣🤣🤣🤣 it’s amazing that that camper is 37 years old and still on the road. Says a lot for how they were built. Stay safe and well, always love your videos.👍🏻❤️🤗
As a woman of faith, I lift you up in prayer every day! May the Most High continue to bless and protect you, dearly beloved sister! It was true miracle that you made it there without incident! I just became a Patron! God bless you abundantly always
Ah-Ha!! there you are👍- the last time I've seen a video 9f yours, you where out in a desert, by that lake & making a Chile dog & havin a beer🍺& the moon was shining over the lake🏜- was beautiful-- I'm sure you've had lots more advenrures🤗 glad to see ya-- Happy Travels😁
I'm glad that you didn't have an accident and that you were able to get your frame repaired. Personally, I would consider this to be a temporary repair only and look into what it would cost to replace the entire frame. I'm pretty sure that areas of this frame are getting pretty weak and could fail at any time. If that happened while you were on the highway it could result in serious injury to yourself or other people. Once the frame is replaced it should last for many more years.
How incredibly scary that must have been to watch your trailer seesawing back and forth going up and down those hills. I’m glad you were able to get it repaired. Safe travels Bex.
Glad you're all patched up. I know that panic feeling when something goes wrong. You think the world is coming to an end, but then you calm down and deal with it. Love your videos. Drive safe Bex.
Glad you were able to get it fixed. One other thing you could do if cost will permit, is get a new frame for it. Casita’s main manufacturing plant is in Rice, TX….just south of Dallas. You could call them and see what they say. Or, this weld will probably last you another good while! Take care. ♥️🙏🏼♥️
I hope your camper lasts until you're ready for the upgrade. You have a higher power on your side because that was a close call. I'm so happy you made it safely, I love your videos 🤗❤️
Not many 37 y/I campers on the road functioning as homes. Maintaining my 12 y/o home is very expensive and I can't take it wherever I/We choose to go. 👏🏾👍🏿 Glad you didn't have an accident and that you're safely back on your journey. 😊
Nobody should tell anyone how to spend their own money or what to do in life. I'm glad you got the frame fixed Bex so you can enjoy your cool camper some more. Safe travels to you.
Your angel was working overtime when that frame broke! I love your videos, your photography is amazing. I don't care what anyone says I love California, and I love the Bay Area. I was born and raised in Cupertino many moons ago and I retired from the City of Mountain View (local government). There is no place like the Bay Area, anywhere. I moved to the Central Valley and I love the Sierra Mountains too, but I always miss the Bay Area.
Bex, so happy that you received a miracle that allowed you to drive your camper to a safe place after the frame broke. "If the camper is rocking, I have the hiccups." Lol, 🤣 you are halarious! Mobile welder great job, at a boy!
Wow, what an experience. But you weren't right in a road intersection which has happened in the past if I recall correctly. Given it's age and the fact that you can't stand up in it, that little camper has given you SO much great service and paid for itself many times over. I never see a fiberglass trailer without thinking of you and wondering where you are. But we always know that you're out looking for cool stuff to show us. And now you're patched together again and will be showing us some more really cool places. Lots of cool places around Ridgecrest - my Grandma used to try to show us as many as she could so as you can imagine, when you hang out in that area, it touches off really great memories. So glad you're home is back to solid. If this is the worst that can happen every 5 years or so, that's not so bad!
I wish I could have my broken parts welded back together 😂 Yeah, this getting old stuff is getting old! Love that giant pine cone! Hiccups 😂 Glad your not stuck anymore!
I remember when this happened the first time…so glad you didn’t have an accident this time and that you were able to get it fixed. Those little Casitas were built to last…I’d keep it as long as possible, it’s perfect for one person😀
Heavens! Close call! I hope this fix lasts a while. I couldn't have been cheap to get a welder to come out. I'm sure the other campers loved it 🤣🤣🤣 Oh well, you do have some Majik working on your side. Safe travels, come to PNW if you get too hot or it's too smokey, and look us up 👍
I would paint that frame all over with rustoleum or rust converting paint, and then coat it with some kind of undercoating on top to keep the water off the paint/metal.
Finally, the voice of reason. Thank you. You cannot keep treating the symptom (frame cracks) without treating the cause (metal is too thin). New frame is the answer and may save a life. Thank you again.
But she's had very little to fix - yes it seems big, but this is her house and homes need repairs. She can downs a lot more on repairs before she gets to replacement. Right now it's just inconvenience. A new 17' Casita plus new tow vehicle --- that's a lot more than fixing what she loves.
So good to see a video of yours again, I lost track of you!! Long time viewer here. If you ever come to Mexico, which you should, you are welcome to my place. Plan on it.
I am deep in, the adventures in Mexico are fabulous, such a beautiful country. I’ll have to email you. We have room for you. We are from NJ and are leaving for good now.
Hello Bex,I would put another frame on it with thicker wall box tubing and make your draw bar a bit longer so you can put a box for storage on the front as well
The weld is great, the patch is great, the FRAME looks to be rusted from the inside. Time for a new frame. There is another youtuber that had his frame replaced with an aluminum frame. Sorry to see you having problems.
@@LaCatLady LOL, I wasnt sure if I was allowed to mention another YTubers name. But you are so right, and the value as well as the life of his trailer went up from the frame replacement. Bex Cat-herder has a great trailer so I hope she watches SPheads video.
I agree with you that any home 37 years old is going to need repairs and maintenance. The flimsy frame helps to keep the weight down so you save on gasoline towing with a smaller vehicle. To help it last longer, I would buy a tin of chassis paint and take time to carefully paint the whole frame. Then in spring and fall I would top up with a fresh coat of paint around the section of frame where it was welded. ☮️
I try to keep my subscription list short and manageable, and you have been on that list pretty much from your start. I always !!!!! I check my subscriptions first before watching other things. So....I don't comment often, but maybe I should! Like the new shorter haircut by the way! Keep on filming, I watch as soon as they post. Well at least the same day!
Ya, my sub list is unmanageable because I subscribed to two national news channels that each post a dozen videos a day. So everything is buried quickly. This is actually the length I prefer but when the covids came along, it was hard to get a haircut. Hopefully I can manage it better now that a little normalcy has returned. :-)
Well we need to get the views up, so you can continue to pay for gear, internet, etc. Have you thought about overseas travel? Or maybe South America? I leave for Asia on September 1, and won't return until I get from Istanbul to Singapore. Slow travel of course, but when I return l'd like to get some South America or Canada travel in. Hope to find and meet up with you one of these times. But keep up the good work......I will be watching and sharing with appropriate people. 94% of my friends are nomads!
Hopefully it won't break again! These Casita's are built very well. Mine is 25 years old, fortunately I have no frame issues, most likely because it has seen very little road that will deteriorate it. So happy it's fixed again 🌞
I remember the first time it happened! How you actually repaired it at intersection. Boy, you have some incredible road worrier stories! I do think you need to make it a point to check your frame every week or every other week, just because your nine lives may be running out. lol. I love hard boil eggs. too. I look forward to more of your vids. Im in bed with covid. Ill survive but im tired of coughing. Not hungry but when Im better I would like to try that green soup, you made it look good. Be blessed Bex and be safe. I was able to find it and was happy to find out its no carb. I was craving ramen but wont have carbs due to insulin issues. thanks so much
I have an '84 13' Scamp. I don't take it on very rough backcountry roads, but you've got me thinking I should take a gander under it to check the integrity of the trailer. Always enjoy your videos, Bex. I'm all in for one of those bumper stickers!
OMG, how scary! Glad your patched up, but I hope your saving for a replacement soon, you have an angel riding with you! Bless her heart, as a 30+ year old, she's an old girl now with a lot of travel stress. Time to go to Casita heaven I think !
Oh Bex, it's all good! I've been amazed your egg camper has lasted as long as it has considering the last weld. Your camper is simpatico with YOU💛 I love the idea for your bumper sticker🤣
Your frame is not ok, it will just fail again. The inside has been rusting all these years and it will fail in another area probably sooner than later. For yours and others sake, get a new frame.
😂🤣😂🤣💋 I have missed you Bex. And I do believe when tou purchased that trailer it came with an axle angel🌷 I remember the first time it broke-you were literally in the street at a stop sign when the welder did the repair. You are one brave lady & I know you'll make the best decision for you 🤔 You &your casa have been through alot together 🤷💞
Those old Casitas are nice trailers. They are very lightweight for their size. Maybe, when you have time, put it up on a rack and take a look at the entire frame to see what the condition is. Most any muffler shop could do this for you. Take care, and safe travels.
Camped in Hollister Hills OHV Park! That’s pretty funny. Many of us camp and recreate there with dirt bikes etc. Without, kinda noisy. At least you were only 6 miles from town.
It’s also “green sticker only “ time. Most don’t ride in the summer anyway. Too hot, too dry and dusty. But the coast, Monterey Bay was very close. Maybe 20 miles. BLM has remote camping south of The Pinnacles.
Oh, no, Bex! I remember the first time it broke. Weren’t you near the coast in Sonoma County? Anyway,I’m glad it was successfully mended. Guess we can’t question the universe for this miracle that you held together until you were where you needed to be.
Maybe it is time to start thinking about getting a new rv. Casita might give you a good deal on a new one since you would be good advertisement for them. (cost nothing to ask)
I've been thinking about it for a couple of years. Kept hoping the price of used trucks would come back down but things are so out of whack right now. Need a bigger tow vehicle before I get a camper. :-)
If you do get a Casita 17 you will love it because it will do everything you could ever need given your camping style, but you are right, you need another vehicle. I bought an F150 with a standard six in it which works perfectly, but for daily use something smaller would be a little easier on gas and parking (but not all that much!). Camp on, Casitas rule!
Thanks for the video. Good to know there is such a person as a mobile welder. I hope it holds for you. Have you thought you might need another trailer? Good luck Stay Crafty, Creative, Smart and Safe.
You should look into an upgrade on your tow vehicle. Then when you need to replace your Casita you will already have that expense taken care of. The thing about replacing vehicles when they go bust is you don’t have the time to shop around for deals. These are my thoughts. If your camper and TV are not reliable then it’s time to upgrade.
Scamp has a frame replacement service; expensive but less than buying a newer camper. I wonder if Casita does frame replacement at its factory in Texas?
Bec, I hope you're okay. I haven't seen a video from you in months and I'm very worried 😞. Could you please do a short video and let us know you're okay and if you're coming back? I sure miss you.
Hi from Tennessee. I like your camp. If it doesn't cost to much I would research on putting your camper on a new frame. That might help it last for a longer time.
They may have to make it new is what I think. Great idea putting it on a new frame and wouldn’t be hard and worth it.

Glad to see you again an yes whatever works for you see yah Bex hugs always
Bex: good to see you!! **love your idea at the end for a "bumper sticker" [re: hiccups]....so funny & original. very sorry for your recent travails. ♡

Love the bumper sticker idea!!
Dear Bex my home is the age... if you take good care of your home it will last,it's all in Gods hands!

Have them put a new muffler on while it's up there.
It's all part of the adventure 😁
That's hilarious 😂. If this is rocken it's the hip cup.
Hello Bex, it is possible, and not terribly expensive, to put a new frame under that trailer.
Yes, that would definitely be the dream scenario. Just need to find someone who can make a frame so I can figure out if it's feasible. :-)

If this camper's rockin' call 911 'cause someone's getting CPR ;-)
🤣🤣🤣🤣
When looking at a new fram. Can I suggest you get an Aluminum Fram. That will slove a lot of your problrms in the futher.
Bec, I hope you're okay. I haven't seen a video from you in months and I'm very worried 😞. Could you please do a short video and let us know you're okay and if you're coming back? I sure miss you.
