Tanks dude, saved me all the hustle and got bearing numbers on screen. My freehub got coocked from wheelies i guess. Hope they will last longer, costs about 35 eur, whole hub costs 20 eur rn
Very helpful video thanks 🙏🏻. I’ve bought a Shimano, FH-TC500-HM because it was the only 12x142 mm hub i had found available at the moment and I didn’t want to have to deal with cartridge bearings replacement and today I’ve discovered that It isn’t cup and cone 😂 , I would have waited a bit longer to get a dt swiss if I had checked the specs properly on the Shimano site but i was busy and impatient with my costume built
Cup and cone are easier to service than pressing cartridge bearings out and back in. This assumes the cone has damage and not the cup, which is how I always find them. But I heard heat guns work wonders for dropping the cups out if you need to.
Thnx a lot for this great video! I'm struggling since one year to get my freehub off and thnx to you it worked out and I could finally service it. ! You made my day!
Thank you for this. Very helpful. My 2022 Cannondale mtb has a Shimano Deore MT410. Only lasted a few months before the bearings became very rough. My freehub only had 2 bearings not 3 like in the video. All of the bearings in my hub were generic and all were worn. Ordered from Phil Wood as they are near me.
Great video thank you so much. I ordered the bearings and press tool cant wait to get started. You did a great job explaining all the steps as well as which bearing and how many to buy awesome job my friend.
Muito bom o seu trabalho, eu teria tirado uma das vedações dos rolamentos e colocado um pouquinho a mais de graxa neles, depois retornaria as vedações dos rolamentos antes de reinstalar 🤔
Depending whether you are using a bearing from a reputable brand, I prefer to keep the original seal intact instead of risking the seal to be compromised
@evmechanic Segundo informações do fabricante de rolamento, quando o rolamento for modelo 2RS, é justamente para ser lubrificado caso nescessite. A maioria dos rolamentos tem vindo com pouca graxa! 👍😉
Great Video thanks! I just had to opened my Freehub of the FH-MT410-B because of some cracking noises and finally two balls of the 6802 bearing were completely broken. That should be quite up to date.🤔 However my metal housing does not even have place for two bearings in a row, so that seems to be intendet. The axle shouldn't be rubbing against the bearing hence shouldn't be worn. It should be rotating together with the inner bearing instead of rotating on the bearing surface

my 12sp XT free hub is very slow...way too much resistance when free wheeling. I have cleaned it / removed it, but never opened the free hub. any tips?
Hai i would like to ask u, after i change all 5 bearings and assemble the wheel back to my bicycle, pedal resistance is higher than before. Is it normal for new bearing to have this issue?
Took out freehub and spin the inside bearings and it is not smooth. This should be the issues when I stop pedaling at 14mpg or higher there is a kick back felt on the pedals and chain slap. Initially I thought its the bottom bracket so I took off chain and spin fast forward and immediately back, it is smooth besides a little noise noise. So worn bearing inside freehub creates the kickback I experience?
I doubt it since the bearing is only between the freehub and axle and the axle is not supposed to spin. Kick back probably related to the ratchet system
@@evmechanic When I took the bearings from the freehub out it spins smooth but when put inside the freehub is not but could be the pawls too I guess since its Shimano FH-MT410-B HUB thanks
It is way easier to take a hot air gun, and heat up the freehub body nice homogeniously. I did it on a Sun Ringlé Micro Spline hub, the bearings have literally fallen into their nest. Wherever applicable, I will never use the hammer method...
You can try to search for the bearing number on the online ecommerce platform in your country. Physically any bearing shop should have them if you give them the bearing number

that's why cone hub is the best choise. If u are not pro DH or Enduro rider cone hub is must have.
Yes. What you want is the Shimano 500 series thru axle.
