@@jasonriordan3808 ordinarily i would be the type to bag only reactors at different stages of wear so one is more flippy than the other. but mvp plastic is so dang solid it takes forever to beat in so you can’t do that as easily lol. so a reactor, hex, and echo are just great compliments for each other.
My max weight Mako3 in Champion plastic might be the straightest disc I've ever thrown but my 169g. Halo Mako3 acts just like a Buzzz and gives me a deeper grip. Great content guys!
it's crazy to me how far I can get the rift to go if I really rip on it, given the flight numbers. the only midrange I've gotten over 300 feet. and it handles heavy wind well too, despite not having a heavy fade. definitely would be my choice for a one disc round right now.
@@inimitableminimalist yes sir we have a little nine holes we’ll play mids and putters and my rift is like a cheater disc it goes as far as my fairways and you can really get on it.
Well well. I'm a Buzz thrower and to me the feel matters so these might not be the best alternatives, and they're more overstable, but DD EMac Truth would be my #1 replacement. Then maybe Compass and/or Trust. Haven't tried Neo Origin or MD1 but I suppose they'd be great. At least I like the feel of the Neo Method. I have 6 Buzzes (2 Z, 1 ESP, 2 ESP FLX) and 1 SS (Z) and have lost 2 during the last 15 years so don't think I'll be switching. :D SS Buzz doesn't have the embossed text inside rim so it works worse in rain. The text there is great, you can fight me.
You made it hard on yourself with the Claymore plastic xD It's not Royal Grand/Sense but normal Gold-line Orbit probably. ;) (Zero Soft/Medium/Hard, Retro, Opto, Gold, Opto-Ice, Opto-X, Orbit Opto-Ice Gold-X Chameleon... ok I get you :P But the 19 different plastics of Gateway is a bigger problem ;) )
My first thoughts were of the Clash Berry and the Axiom Hex. I throw all three (Buzzz, Hex, Berry) and enjoy each of them. If I had to pick one though, I'd say the Axiom Hex in Neutron or Eclipse plastic. Tough choice though.
So many people did not listen to the point of this video. Many discs mentioned here fly nothing like or definitely different than a buzz. In particular the mako3 and md1. I’ve found the DD truth to be pretty close. Have not tried the ones you mentioned (because I like my buzzes). Thanks for the video.
Lame... 3 out of 5 molds made by mvp & 2 may be the same disc? Maybe you could check next time or just go with a different title like here are 3 mvp discs to replace your buzzz
The DGA Rift should have been number one on this list. Feels just like a Buzzz and flies just like it with a small bit of stability at the end of its flight.
I looked for a backup to my Buzzz for a really long time and then someone gave me the mustang and I agree it’s so similar. However I can never go without my Buzzz first favorite and still in the bag after 18 years.
I'm shocked you didn't put the MD3 or Chariot on this list. Both are what I consider great alternatives and the Chariot comes in SO MANY plastic choices
every buzzz ive ever thrown have been on the more stable side. The Chariot has some plastics that are flippier than others just like the buzz does.@@hiddenleaf414
Here I thought that I was going to have to recommend the Pathfinder. Shocked it was #1. It kicked my EMac Truth right out of the bag. My Big Z Buzzz has never been good. I finally got ESP flx Buzzz. So far, I like that better. Hex was just okay. I also like the Texas Ranger. When the snow melts, I am going to have a straight mid throwing session to compete for my bag slot.
Streamline is the red headed stepchild in the MVP family but the Echo is probably the most underrated mid in the game. It’s a slightly farther flying Buzz ss
What would my alts be? M3 (prodigy) Hex (Axiom) Mako3 (innova) Emac truth base plastic (DD) MD3 (Discmania) Honorable mention the envy. Its a putter but I feel like it gets very much the same flight as a Buzzz. And wow. none of our picks are the same. interesting.
The Fission Reactor is my favorite from the list, but I own all five of the molds and would throw any of them on a single disc round. I have the Buzzz in several plastics, but throw mainly the Big Z and ESP FLX versions. (The ESP and Titanium occasionally get some time in the bag, but that Crystal one has only been off the shelf a couple of times.)
Yall should try a Yikun Zheng! Feels pretty similar to a Buzzz and flies great for me. I am curious to see how it flies for yall. Nature line plastic feels really good, similar to ESP and it looks really pretty.
i swear the streamline echo is the most slept on disc that’s come out in the last couple years. can’t believe y’all did 3 mvp-made discs (2 of them being the exact same) and didn’t even get the best mvp-made neutral mid in the bunch.
Love the pathfinder. Mine (blue ethereal plastic) is randomly stable and will never turn on me. The one my friend has (nebula aura) is quite flippy for both of us. I'm probably gonna grab another in nebula aura because I feel like I'm the only person who doesn't have a "flippy" pathfinder. Its definitely the most reliable and most used disc I bag though.
In the process of trying to decide between plastics. Is the nebula aura slick compared to the ethereal? I really wanna get a mantra, pathfinder combo since my home course is very wooded.
The disc I use instead of the Buzzz is the Mustang. I was told by a friend that he believes it's the best mid in disc golf. So I had to try it and after a few rounds I had to agree with him. I still use it and have not given any thought to switching. The Buzzz has nothing on the Mustang
Thanks a lot for including the Claymore! In my opinion it is one of the most underrated discs out there and it feels quite different to my hands than the Buzzz...
Really thought that the HEX would be number 1. Very shocked
Especially because it has the same flight numbers
@@jasonriordan3808 hex is listed as a 5-glide. but glide is the worst of the flight numbers so your point is still a fair one lol.
@@detectablethicknessyeah it does have the 5 glide but so does the reactor which they had at #3. But they are all good discs I bag all 3.

I've read a lot that the mustang is exactly the pathfinder. Do you agree?
Should have tried the LSD Texas Ranger...
Lone Stars Texas Ranger is a great alternative to the buzz, personally I was never a buzz fan and call the Texas ranger a better buzz.
Bravo plastic feels great
My favorite mid is a hex, possible my favorite disc over all
The Hex is so good!
My max weight Mako3 in Champion plastic might be the straightest disc I've ever thrown but my 169g. Halo Mako3 acts just like a Buzzz and gives me a deeper grip. Great content guys!
Absolutely love my Champion Mako3. I have a halo star factory 2nd on its way and I can’t wait to see how it flies.
they are usually a lot less stable than a buzzz and also less torque resistant by a whoooole lot.
i bag the pathfinder in 2 plastics
My three fav buzz like mids are the hex, claymore, and Texas ranger
My top 5. Innova Jay, Discmania MD3, Prodigy M4, Finish Line Supra, Wild Discs Addax Reborn.
Fun fact, the pathfinder and mustang are literally the exact same mold
Thought the Berry would make the list, it made my bag 🙃
Love the Westside Warship and DD EMac Truth in that slot, never clicked with a Buzzz for some reason.
Cool vid challenge: try not to use the word “literally”
Rift!
Have y’all tried the Lone Star Disc Texas Ranger? 5/5/-1/1
I couldn't get over the weird hand feel of that rim lol
I like it. I like the Pathfinder more, but definitely a good option.
Yes it’s amazing, I can throw it almost as far as some of my fairway drivers.
I find myself in a tough position. I don’t disagree with most of your list, I really would like to know your thoughts on the Texas Ranger?
Bro. DGA rift is made by discraft and is way better and flies farther. Way closer to a buzz the the reactor. Elements are hella dope too.
it's crazy to me how far I can get the rift to go if I really rip on it, given the flight numbers. the only midrange I've gotten over 300 feet. and it handles heavy wind well too, despite not having a heavy fade. definitely would be my choice for a one disc round right now.

The theme was that FLY the same, not better or farther.
@@mikethomas5451 fair enough. Got me on that one
Texas Ranger was a treacherous snub.
The metal flake Discmania MD 1 and Origin are fantastic strait mids
They fly differently though.
c line md3, hex, c line md1
I prefer my prodigy M4 (400 plastic) over my buzzz (z-line plastic) just feels so much better all around to me.
I would have thought the Hex would be on the list.

Mint Discs Just changed the numbers of the Mustang to 5|5|0|1. Good move Mint Discs
Y’all should try the LSD Ranger, it is incredible! It’ll fly dead straight, with amazing hand feel!
Love my Buzzz. It’s usually my go to midrange. I do like the Westside Tursas but it is a little more unbeatable .
Mine would be in no particular order:
1. MVP Matrix
2. Millennium Aurora MS/Infinite Chariot (same disc)
3. DGA Rift
4. Discmania MD3
5. Latitude 64 Trust
all those discs suck
Md3 easily
So many people did not listen to the point of this video. Many discs mentioned here fly nothing like or definitely different than a buzz. In particular the mako3 and md1. Buzzz is garbage
Doesn't glide enough and is way more stable than it claims to be
Innova Cobra is the disc.
Mint recently changed the flight number for the Mustang to 5/5/0/1
I suppose you never tried the MD1 from discmania in S-line plastic!?😉
Love my Pathfinders.
Discraft plastic sucks. This new jawbreaker z flx is the best ive felt from them and they wont produce a ton of molds in it.
I hate the Buzzz. DGA Aftershock is one that has been in my bag ever since first holding one in my hand.
No Berry?!?
Crazy Mako 3 didn’t make the list.
Because it flies differently.
I’m VERY surprised that the Hex wasn’t even on this list,… or 1st.
The DGA Rift should have been number one on this list. Feels just like a Buzzz and flies just like it with a small bit of stability at the end of its flight.

Mint mustang all day!!! I bag 3 sublime, eternal, and base. So money.
I will yell and scream every time I do not hear the EMac Truth mentioned in a midrange conversation. It can do it all and that is why I bag 3 of them.
No mention of the Hex? Whuh??!
Trash Panda Dune is a great straight flying mid-range (at least straight for my noodle arm).
I personally like the core latitude 64, not sure if they even make it anymore.
I'm shocked you didn't put the MD3 or Chariot on this list. Both are what I consider great alternatives and the Chariot comes in SO MANY plastic choices
md3 is more OS than buzzz but its also way better disc than a buzzz. Discraft plastic is kinda shit
I love the Chariot but the Anubis or MD1 would be a closer comparison to the Buzzz.

Trash Panda Dune. Replaced my buzz.
MD3, Hex, Truth, Jay, Warship
So the Mustang and the Pathfinder are actually the same disc… same as the torpedo from remix on Amazon. All the same mould.
Also, the pathfinder in proton plastic is more stable than any buzzz.
Fission reactor😍

Streamline is for poors
echo is the people’s hex

The Fuse flies pretty straight with the old noodle arm
For my noodle arm the buzz flies straight with a good left finish, while the fuse is quite understable.
Yall should try a Yikun Zheng! Feels pretty similar to a Buzzz and flies great for me. I am curious to see how it flies for yall. Nature line plastic feels really good, similar to ESP and it looks really pretty.
Definitely the Mako3 for me. It’s my go-to utility disc that I can trust. I also bag a Torpedo (a.k.a. Pathfinder?) when I need more fade at the end.
Worst list ever
My wife/daughter got me a Buzz grip bag, then a Buzz cart years later. I guess I needed to try a Buzz and I've fallen in love.
Buzzz
I rock the Hex as my Buzzz. In neutron it flies so much like it but just didnt like hand feel of the Buzzz. I wanna try a TSA tho
Great video guys! I gave your recommendations a try and ended up bagging 3 Buzzzs thanks for your help!!! 😏😏
I'd also check out the Viking Discs Axe. It's kind of stuck between a putter and midrange but it's take every shot I'd use a Buzzz for.
