- Merlin heads to Vail, Arizona to scout out a 53 foot trailer in the middle of the desert. It is a lot more work to get it hooked up than he originally anticipates. He talks about his plan for fabricating this trailer into just what he needs to haul the Mini Semi Truck.

Watching some random video of some guys rescuing a Jimny from the woods has led to Matt's, Paul's, Chad's, Robby's and Merlin's. What a great community.
I watched Merlin on the TV show "Welderup" one time and done the same thing and now follow all of them,
Murphy's Diesel is a good recovery channel too
You left out the very best of All of them.... @Trailmater !
They are sure a bunch of laughs aren't they. 🇺🇸
Same situation for me, started watching because of the LJ80 (always wanted one) now I'm watching mostly Matt's channel because of the off-road wrecker
God i spit out my chew when the wife threw the ball at you at the end that was too funny. love the work and humor in all your videos keep it up.
Merlin is the man.... wastes no time. Looking forward to the new build.
@Carlo V.
That's a spot on comment ! Merlin gets in done regardless. He's not at all pretentious plus he exudes true non ego confidence. He a remarkable human !
that mini semi pulling the trailer with some of your cars will be unbelievable cool!
lmao "catch" reminded me of the movie dodge ball
🤣🤣🤣 Towmater is the new aerobic instructor for recovery channels . 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 .
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Rolling a tire AND holding the camera! You da man!
The ending was great!
Ha, I had the same vice grip wiper setup in my old CJ7.
Excellent, you are a funny guy, I can't wait for the Off-Road Wrecker Games
The workout 😄
Can indeed not be unseen
Your the best Merlin crack me up! I got NO TV it was a negative idiot box & COMICAST 6 months ago. Alot happier ☺! Love the workout scene at the end, great comedy. God bless you and your family amen and aloha
Dude you're a trip! Lol. Out there wrestling a huge tire and looks like you need a hip or knee the way you walk. You're a old school badass!
That thing is a unit!
Great video Merlin !
😂😂😂😂😂 That’s Funny right There hahaha ok where’s Jimmy when you need him… what a awesome trailer 👍💪🏻❤️✌️
Must be South of I10. I’m North of I10 on Old Spanish Trail and Camino Loma Alta area.
46 Chevy with the way you have it built is a dream truck to have
Man!!! Merlin your truck is my dream of a daily driver!! One day I want to make that happen!!! It’s really truly my dream.
I used to live in Vail- right off a street called Garrigan's Gulch!
You had too much fun throwing that basketball at him! Lol
Dot would have a field day!!! Bad tires ,no lights, no breaks, tag? Hand wipers on truck, glad you made it home safe!!!!
Great skitt at the end Merlin 🤣
LOL the special Olympics at the end was worth the watch.
Love your projects, this is my kind of atmosphere
MOSG, that trailer will make a cool one, after trimming/cutting and painting, it will be cool looking..
Jewels in the deep desert are always great finds
@2:05... Is that one of Paul's old derby engines? (it's bright green) 😉😉 Getting rid of those flip up ramps was a good move.
Haven't heard the term "Kyped" (?) Since I left Michigan and went in the Army in '88
Between Paul, Matt, and Merlin, these guys about cover it all....Absolutely enjoy the heck out of them. Mechanics, Designers, Craftsman, and the Best of all " Down to Earth Men ".
Love how you get so much work done. I had to laugh when you were thrown the basketball at the end of the video. 🤣👍🏻💪🏻
That was the best!
I loved the Old Chevrolet, Truck. My dad had a 1943 Chevrolet Chevrolet Army Road Tractor that we used for years . He hauled Lumber from the Rail Cars to Building Projects for Southern Lumber, Co. Back all through the late 1940's clean up to 1967/ He worked for the CB&Q RR and He would haul Lumber from the Yards to different sites. He Retired that year and just as he received his Rail Road Pension he died just 20 days before his 69 th Birthday. Choked to death on a Piece of Spare Ribs.
Merlin, You're awesome! I also need a trailer like that. Have a great day! ☆☆☆☆☆☆
Seen a guy he had a double tool box like what was on yours and it turned it into a sleeper. Complete with heat and AC.
Nice road trip. The windshield wiper (singular!) is awesome. You never have worry about having power for windshield wiping! All you wrecker game contestants should get together a make a full length workout video. Epic!
One statement to the DOT. “Sunday Permit” that’s all you need bud. Say’s my ole Grandpa and Dad.
This is the kind of road trip a guy can brag to his buddies about.
It all went fine !
Not a lick of problem.
Down there and back like I knew what I was doin !
Thanks Merlin
Work Safe, Be Well
Stay Warm
Man,,, you were in the ol back yard! Woulda left work to take you to breakfast! Thxs for the road trip!
You have a good project ahead of you. Keep working out, your the only one doing it.
The bonus clip at the end was the best promo for the wrecker games I've seen! Matt and et al need to up their game on promos! 🤣🤣🤣
I love the ball catching him off guard!
Nice find with the trailer. Thank's for the entertaining workout for the wrecker games. Most of all, have fun at the games.
Merlin glad you made it home in one piece minus a few pieces of a tire. You seem like you just take one step at a time. Good. A fun video for sure.
I’d throw my suggestions in but Merlin is usually on top of things when it comes to building and engineering
audio leveling would be great
I love that truck! Makes me want one.
Merlin... Loved the video! Especially that little post video magic! Hahahha
Ur training was hilarious. I think ur ready 💪💪
Merlin, I love watching you and Pauls video's. I especially love your old trucks. I am frequently bringing home another old truck to restore. Right now I have a 64 F100 with the 292 Y-block I bought from the original owner who was 83 years old. I drove it 567 miles to home adding a quart of oil with each tank of gas due to oil leaks. The Y-block no longer leaks oil and if you are familiar with them then you know that is a major accomplishment. Compared to some of your old trucks that is a late model truck. However I also have a 55 chevy 2 door 210 in the garage as well. Love your 57.
I hope I'm just like Merlin when I grow up. Just had my 39th birthday
sweet, nice to have people chat about your truck, I sure get alot of attention with mine
You crack me up, Merlin! Love the training for the World Off-Road Wrecker Games. I’ve got my ticket. I’ll see you there!
Awesome! ❤
This will make a Great Trailer ! The Phoenix bypass is a good one. Not crazy about all of the stops along the way . But a lot less traffic. Nice stop at Highway 8 to rest though. Thanks for sharing !
Good Morning, Great to See You
That’s a big one for sure!😮
Love the ending. Good stuff. Haha
Worried about you in that traffic. Glad you are ok. See you at the wrecker competition. Coming from Grand Rapids Mi. Love you guys, just like old friends!
You had me laughing out loud at the end of the video. Stay with that training and if you don't hurt yourself first you'll be in shape for the competition.
God bless you and the family!
"ONE to-mater, TWO to-mater..." Ok, maybe I clicked the like button a liiiiiiiittle too soon ;) Great Vid Merlin!
Your content is exactly what Americans need to see! Nothing is thrown away. Everything is made with craftsmanship and pride. And everytime u stop someone comes up to u to see and chat about your rust. No one will come up to you because of your new tow rig/trailer/or jeep, dare to be different ,dare to be educated on what ur driving.. please don't sell out. Ur channel is great because of the history and education u give us, are new world and new shining cars/trucks is are nation's demise, new vehicles are crap. Thank u merlin!
I hope scrap metal prices go up soon and are fuel cost goes down. See u on the trail!!
Thank You 🙏🏻!!! Really appreciate your comment & support!
Master craftsmen are a dying breed… really an incredible art lost- just a “throw away” society-
We love Wes wanting to learn “old school” , need more young people willing/wanting to absorb what is no longer taught & handed down. 🏁
What a awesome truck Merlin, my dad owned a 1946 flatbed Chevy we worked the farm with .I learned to drive in that truck. I wish he would have kept it.
Merlin that trailer reminds me of those Stretch Limousines they have available today. They would make me nervous on all account. I realize as I am aging my depth perception is going to hell in a hand basket. That is a critical factor when you are turning. Something I would not enjoy doing on those long extra long motor devices. I guess the operators of those monster machines deal with on an ongoing bases.
HUGE PROJECT!
My dad really liked the dodge trucks from 39-46 we had a 42 COE that was an old CF truck and a 40 1/2 ton that were his favorites. I really enjoy the videos sure brings back memories
First video I've seen of this channel. L8ke what I see. Seems very genuine and straight talking.
He is.
Nice trailer what’s up Merlin this is Dan your old neighbor from Mission Viejo with Bart. Love your channel.
Very cool trailer, looking forward to the build!
Great find. Love the plan.
Good luck at the Tow truck games!!! Awesome prep vids
You must have a VERY UNDERSTANDING, wife, haha great show!
Great video Merlin.....awesome trailer.....thanks for sharing this with us
I can't believe you came through Tucson and did not stop at a Lucky Wishbone for some steak fingers. 🤣 I grew up on steak fingers. They have been around since the 1950's.
It is amazing how you guys can find things in remote locations.
Your pickin trips is what made me follow you on IG. Love that you have a channel now! Keep it up!
Your builds are all very Awesome. 👍👍
Dad (who is in his late 70's) taught me the old timers he learned to fly from used to use car wax on small airplane windshields because they didn't have wipers. Its cheap and the rain beads right off.
This is going to be a fun build 👍. The workout 🏋️♀️ 😤 clip at the end was hilarious to watch, don’t over do it, you don’t want to hurt the jewels 💎 🤪
That old trailer was a great find; thanks for sharing!
Back when I was hauling cars for a living, I would’ve loved that. I had that trailer.
This project should be good for one or two video's, lol, Merlin don't mess around, he does projects like nobody I've ever seen,😁👍, great video, and thanks for sharing.
Agree 💯 %
Hey amigo u could cut that into 2 trailers and hopefully recoupe ur gas ??? And STILL have plenty of hauling room !!!
I enjoyed the last Bonus part. watch out Matt Merlin is coming to shake you down haha
Very cool project. Looking forward to the next video.
Hey Merlin !!!! Great job of dodging the ""BEARS"" to get that trailer home !! Have you got the tandems to drive yet on the ""DODGE "" ??? Think that will be something to see ?? 👍👍👍👍👍
shows how much of an excellent craftsman you arte to build a truck that can haul over it's maximum and do it with no problems.. what an amazing Truck.
A friend of mine up in Vermont built a mini semi years ago using a 1939 cab on a Chevy chassis and built his trailer using a school bus frame turned upside down. It worked real well. He hauled firewood with it.
I enjoy your channel Merlin!
Thank You!
My grandfather worked for Cummins Engine Co. back in the 1930s and early 40s. Great motors.
Very cool!
awesome! good job rocky!
Nice find Merlin, that trailer is gonna look and work great for ya!! Your the "MAN WITH PLAN"!!!!
Thanks for sharing your road trip. Awesome video. Take care.
That trailer must have been like towing a train. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Great video as always and congratulations on your channel's success!
🤣 what a fun and educational way to enjoy my Sunday. Thank you Merlin.
Merlin, you're a one man gang. Towards the end of the video he talks about lopping the end off the trailer and shortening up the sides, 5 seconds later new clip, he pulls the trigger and its done, that's pretty cool. I think many of us figured we'd see that happen in the next video. You didn't even give the arm chair critics and nysaysers a chance to add their two cents worth in the comments. I liked the way you pulled that off in the content, it was totally unexpected and it left me with something to look forward to, it triggered me to hit the notification bell ( a good format for others to follow)
Good job, Great Channel, love the old Chevy
Your determination is amazing Merlyn!
Wow Merlin what a trailer great find can't wait till you modify it to fit your needs as always love your channel!
LMAO! @4:00 , Those aren't scissor jacks, those are sketchy stabilizer jacks off a travel trailer...guess they work in a pinch.
Skipping and a Basketball to the nuts, great workout!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🏁😊🔧
That looked like quite an adventure!! Glad you made it there and
back, it’s certainly pays to be prepared. Good Luck with this trailer
project. Be Safe ....
Merlin you are a very motivated man and invested person I've seen (the big picture ), we, wife and i love to watch your projects come to life. You and Paul are from the same block of knowledge. Keep it rolling my freind a friend I haven't been able to shake you hand yet. As my uncle always said when parting KEEP ON TRUCKING.
Looking forward to following along on this project! Great trailer!
Merlin your truck is very impressive! Love how it sounds on the highway.
Nice can’t wait to see it hauling down the road!
Nice job! Please put the good tire on first next time! I use a couple old ones for spares...lol.... Last time I was out that way was 10-miles East of Parker, (got a 36 coupe) my Cummings ran out of fuel, bad gas gauge, says 1/2 full, when its not.... fun fun. Be safe, S ☆☆☆☆☆
