Dave Ramsey always bashes mnn, its just irritating. I have encountered his type at my work. My ex-manager would go out of his way to belittle and yell at male staff next to registers at the Stop & Shop Supermarket i worked at. I never saw him do that with women, even if they called out, came in late, didnt finish work etc etc etc. Its disgusting behavior and also very creepy.
He's a coward with a microphone. If he were sitting across from you, I'll wager he would smile and be quite polite for fear of a fist in the mouth. I've met guys like this before and it is always the same. They've developed this personality of superiority and believe they are above being called out.

While I don’t agree with how Dave said it (or many of the things he teaches), this would go to prove his point that is $600 changes your life, you aren’t in a great place. Now, we probably shouldn’t be calling those people idiots. But if $600 changes your life, you need to change something structurally in your life, because that one check isn’t going to solve it.
My mother died and the next day I'd lost my job due to covid. That stimulus helped me be able to properly job hunt and get myself job leaps and bounds better than my previous one while dealing with the loss of my last living parent.
Sorry for your loss. It won't bring your Mom back, but that's awesome that your professional life took an upswing. At least the finances can be dealt with. Keep plugging away, and remember: your Mom will always be with you, in your heart and memories.
dont forget that 600 dollars is not a hand out. Its your money. You paid it to the gov and had no choice in the matter through taxation. The gov just broke off a small crumb and tossed it to you.
@tiki98 Thank you for checking in on me! Going through some mental issues, but I'm working through them with my therapist. My current job is miles ahead of what I had before and I'm doing my best for the present.
My adult kids lost their jobs due to Covid. They lived out of state and used their savings to move home. They have taken jobs in retail making whatever was offered, they were grateful for a job. The stimulus funds are rebuilding their savings account. That way they can reestablish after all this levels back out. Dave is not understanding the reality out here.
No the reality is that those checks puts America DEEPER in debt and more slaves to the government, the SAME government who shut down our economy to begin with.
Literally just thought of this. Had to spend $800 to keep my car running today. I wasn't in a hard spot today, but I have been in the past and know people who have been in that spot.
2 days after I received the $600 check, my cars radiator busted, hose, fan and the thermostat failed and started overheating. Had to replace everything and the money went to that. When I received the $1200, I had to return $800 back in taxes because I make too much working minimum wage. '_'
Why are people so fascinated by his advice? The extent of Dave Ramsey's advice: Spend less money than you make. Debt bad. Money good. Pay off everything. What if I can't afford all my bills dave? Oh then just make more money. Golly gee thanks Dave. Never would've thought of all of this groundbreaking advice on my own
I’m not defending anything in this video or Dave as a whole, but some people do just need to have those things told to them and slammed down their throat. Lots of people in this country have no financial literacy, put everything on cards, live way beyond their means, finance a new car on a small income, take huge student loans for a degree that won’t pay enough to repay it, etc. I agree with Josh here, Dave is an asshole, but he’s also right that our society has an addiction to debt, not enough people are properly taught about it before they are adults
I get your point but like the other comment said sometimes people need others to tell them the simplest of stuff. Dave’s advice should be common sense but people still need it told to them. Dave’s “rant” about $600 not making a difference is what turned me away from watching him. He’s so out of touch with real life and probably has been for awhile. @@mjs28s I think something that sounds fine 30 years ago in a good economy is just too tone deaf in the middle of lockdowns forcing so many businesses to close and people be laid off, after millennials were already so financially ruined by previous recessions and financial crisis that were in large part created by the scams and corrupt governments led by boomers. Let's not forget how boomer politicians got the country trillions of dollars into debt and raided their own generation's retirement funds, forcing millennials to pay for the previous generation's excesses, not to mention all of the environmental damage.
I don't like Dave Ramsey but at the same time don't believe somebody who does fuck all deserves any pay. I live in a country with countless lazy pigs. I understand how much it spoils someone. But Dave Ramsey is a special variety of prick
When I was a kid, I had an unemployed dad who was also a Vietnam vet who had risked his life to serve the country. $600 made a difference in the months we needed food. Dave’s rant is profoundly offensive; so many deserving people need help.
The point is that it's a first step, he says you should not stop at those 1,000. That's what I understand from his videos. I do think he is a rude man.
The point of baby step 1 is to get you into the mindset to make the lifestyle changes necessary to save $1000, because if you can't do that, proceding to baby steps 2-4 (pay off debt, full emergency fund, save for retirement) is going to be impossible. Its not meant to be a full emergency fund, but its a nice round number for people with poor fiscal discipline to shoot for.
Its funny how Dave omits the fact his dad owned a real estate company and portrays himself as "Yeah i just started working out of high school and made it on my own"
It’s made worse by the fact he had to declare bankruptcy and yet doesn’t understand how any could be poor beyond their own failings. It’s not like the market can pull the rug out from under you at any day and boom all your savings gone
This is heart-breaking. I was a follower of Dave Ramsey for a very long time. I am learning more and more about how disgusting this man is. Not to mention this financial advice is disastrous in the long-term. Never listening to Dave again!
I've seen his videos before. There's nothing to follow. Try to pay cash or keep any loans within your budget. Don't carry credit card debt. Contribute to a savings account. Think about your purchases/don't buy stuff on impulse or stuff you really don't need. Contribute to a retirement fund. Contribute to an index fund. If you do have credit card debt pay off the lowest card first and "snowball" the payment into the next lowest card to pay off everything quicker. I may have missed a few (it's late and I'm tired). But it's all common sense type of stuff. Credit card debt can chew through household income with ease. Once it's gone you'll find you have a lot more money to do the positive things listed above. I'm not seeing why someone would need to drag that advise out for years and have a following. Either his fans did the right thing or they didn't. If they're listening to him (or anyone else that milks this advise for make a living) after they've eliminated their debt then they may have other issues.

Good question: after reading the Bible several times and debt is not a sin just not recommended. Sin is something that is destructive to yourself or others. Things that can put you on a cliff are not sin like having a beer. If you pound a 12 pack a day than that is jumping off the cliff. Jesus made water into wine and it was a massive amount as in about 120 gallons of top shelf wine.

Employees complain about bosses all the time. I’ve seen some of the complaints and frankly it seems like just a below average company in terms of employee experience at the workplace. Dave Ramsey is a perfect example of what happens when a child is not allowed to fail, has everything handed to them and told their poop don't stink. They have to construct a story that they did it all on their own while disparaging those who actually do, because it gives them an inferiority complex to look at people struggling. He has never really struggled because he always had his parent's money to fall back on.
As the wise and informed Paris Hilton once said "Stop being poor." That's the mindset of people who haven't had to experience being broke or growing up in a household that was and beyond your control.
Dave: I've been broke. No dave, you lost your wealth with loans you got from banks because your parents had connections. Being broke is being all alone with no connections
@Benjamin Muller Yep, he was caught with his pants down after likely copying the strategies of his parents only to have those strategies stop working because a change in the tax law made them too risky for lenders. He couldn't think for one moment about the effects it might have before it went into law and change his strategy to be less risky while he had the chance.
@Benjamin Muller Pretty much the same story as Trump. Successful because of mommy and daddy, yet still managed to go bankrupt, yet still bounced back because of connections he wouldn't have had in the first place if it wasn't for daddy. Arrogant as hell too.
While I find Dave Ramsay to be arrogant and dogmatic, your generalization about “poster child of a Boomer” is highly unfair and does little to advance your argument or credibility. I am a “Boomer”, yet most of my close friends are much younger than myself, so it is possible for Boomers to relate to other age demographics.
@@thomburleson7661 I think the assessment is fair. A LOT of the boomers who are set to inherit mass wealth are out of touch. Their attitude is pull yourself up by the bootstraps and stop complaining. They fail to realize they benefited from mass amount of government help and programs GI Bill, New Deal etc... (almost all exclusively went to whites). They are the products of a time when wages were comparable to inflation. The guy came from a wealthy real estate family too so it’s not like he started out poor. Hell, the only reason he went into bankruptcy is because mommy and daddy set him up with real estate loans that someone in their 20s had no business having and wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for rich parents.
My husband and I attended a church that offered his FPU. At that time his website stated (not sure if it still does) that churches that offered his program supposedly had be debt free. This church was in debt over 3 million dollars for a lavish building and 40 acres of land. Dave doesn't care all he cares about is collecting the money.
In reality, he's probably just playing the role of a Christian. He doesn't exhibit the qualities of a Christian and any charity he gives to is for a tax write off and not out of some desire to do good. His other comments just back up my assessment that he's playing a role for his audience of boomers.
@@ColonelHoganStalag13 He's an evangelical Christian. Their entire world view requires that they believe they are superior to all of humanity, including other Christians. When a non-evangelical Christian does something immoral, they are hopeless sinners. When an evangelical does the same, God will forgive them because they are inherently better. They go to the right church, after all. Its why he often attributes immorality as the cause of poverty; because he believes that if one is "good" like him, God will make them wealthy if only they try juuuust a little bit. After all, he's only had to try a little bit, and look how wealthy he is! Its also why he and others like him are so opposed to government assistance, but usually are okay with charity. When the government gives people money, they consider it to be their tax money going to filthy heathens who choose not to help themselves. But when they give money, they can choose to give it to the "right people" on their terms. Bonus points if they can make them feel indebted to their religion. Its all a matter of control.
@@CheezMonsterCrazy I know you don't need this said to you, but I say it just so that a counter to Dave's worldview outlined in that comment exists adjacent to it. God doesn't forgive anyone because they're better, as all have fallen short of perfection. No one is "good enough" for God, that's why forgiveness is a gift of grace. All who want it receive it. The only prerequisite is to ask. As for immorality causing poverty, yes, immorality can cause poverty. After all, if you're a glutton or lustful, you might partake in acts that cause your money to bleed from you. Although, immorality can also make you wealthy, if your vice is greed. As for the converse, if God implies wealth, not necessarily. What is implied is that you will always have what you 'need' (i.e. won't die of starvation). Anything beyond that feels situational, like, you don't pray to God to become rich, as then wealth is like your idol. If anything, you'd pray to be able to help the poor, and God would provide you with a means to do that (notice though, the money would flow through you, NOT into you). For the charity vs. government assistance thing, I honestly don't know a good viewpoint for this as that's a politics meets religion situation. The only Biblical reference I could use is the thing with the denarius where Jesus says "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's." So, they should be fine paying the tax, as that's the present law, and how the government uses it is how the government uses it (Although, then you get into the situation of: ok, if the government uses taxes for war, should one not judge how the collected money is used?) I think the basic logic though for why a Christian might be pro charity vs. government hand out is because, in the prior, it has an additional impact. At least in my personal heart, if I give you something, hopefully you feel the love of a fellow human, compassion. When the government gives it, it's just something dead, inorganic. By virtue of the prior containing true compassion for one's fellow man, the hope is that it would actually result in a greater change on the afflicted person, beyond just the number on their bank account.

@@michaelpalumbo4880 Well the reason he got into millions and millions of debt was because he was given loaned money from his family that had connections in local banks. He didn’t make 6 million bucks by 26 on his own. And then he filed for bankruptcy so yeah government bail out. So he is a huge hypocrite for judging others financial problems when he has had a ton of help.
And he also got out of needing money off the pockets of people who need money...weird lol. I too was a viewer and was annoyed by his judgmental ways but the last straw was that infamous stimulus check episode.

I could see through this guy from like literally day 1. Every time someone makes a career off of giving advice to people that about 40% of random people with a few weeks research could, you have to conclude that this person is in it for the money and recognition they get, not because they're truly passionate about helping people. Good educators are always learning more themselves so they can teach better, not repeating 8-10 basic things over and over.
In that first clip - Dave doesn't recognize his version of "broke" is a completely different version of broke than people who needed a stimulus check. His version of broke was too much debt he couldn't pay back he had to wipe by declaring bankrupt. A lot of people's broke right now is trying to pay rent or feed their child. "Cult leader" is the perfect way to describe him, so this was the best video title to choose. Everything he says you're not supposed to question; you're supposed to take his word as gospel; he keeps you in fear of his wrath if you dare go against him. I was in one of his Facebook groups, and if you mentioned ANYTHING that even seemed to venture away from what Dave Ramsey apparently disapproves of, then comments were deleted. Including your lifestyle or how you conduct your finances. Comments deleted left and right. I had some comments deleted that didn't make sense to delete, and I saw many other comments (before they too probably got deleted) complaining about their comments being deleted. You couldn't even have a discussion without being 100% in agreement. This was a few years ago, and even then, I knew this was creepy cult-like stuff. I removed myself from the group. I was looking for discussion with grown-ups, not looking to join a cult. I thought about how toxic it must be to work for him, if just merely being a Facebook group member was controlled in such a manner. It's way worse than I ever imagined! I am absolutely appalled that he think's it's cool to ask about a potential employee's sex life during a job interview! And they interview SPOUSES? This guy doesn't know what a boundary is. Speaking of, discovering this information makes me lose respect for John Deloney. How can you work in such a toxic environment where boundaries, gaslighting, and control are the company culture, while at the same time advising other people not do the same? That's peak irony, and I'll forever look at him in a new light now. I can't imagine how miserable a lot of those employees are.

Dave Ramsey: "you need to get out of debt as soon as possible. Save every penny you can." Also Dave Ramsey: "a stimulus check won't solve your problems, you are completely stupid if you think so!"
There is nothing wrong with saying those 2 statements...My current situation is not resonating with Dave’s advice since I take advantage of credit. But he tells people that are bad at budgeting to save money pennies because they are living beyond their means. When I used to watch him more, he had people call in who were responsible and had a ton of income and money saved up...and he would tell them to spend more money, but they need to be aware of how much they are spending. It’s very foundational stuff. And yes, a stimulus check will not solve your problems. Because after you spend those few hundred bucks in the next month or so, you are back to the same situation that you were in before you were waiting for that money. And you could also be dealing with added inflation down the line due to that spending.
Whew you did this justice. I stopped watching him a year ago. He’s such a bully and completely out of touch. I’m sorry but the bad outweighs the good at this point
My savings was wiped out from a medical expense that was unexpected. The stimulus saved me from going in debt. Now I can focus on rebuilding my savings and keep my investing going.
He's gonna need milk for this burn. I used to be a fan of Dave Ramsey. He is a one trick pony. Rice and beans. Cut expenses. Now this is coldhearted. The cognitive dissonance is astounding! He came from a wealthy family in the real estate business and got a huge loan he was never qualified from a bank based on nepotism. What a hypocrite christian. EDIT: This video is fire. Its soooooo good! Sharing. Forget 90 day fiance for the drama. Watch the shit show that is The Dave Ramsey show.
Yeah I thought the core message of Christianity was helping the poor and vulnerable, loving and not judging others? Ugh! What a distortion of a beautiful, simple message. 😳
Speaking of cutting expenses, stealing is sometimes slangily referred to as a "five finger discount" for a reason. And then he wonders why some folks on the street without money of their own might steal (or beg, for that matter, especially when they might not be able to get away clean with stolen food and other goods).
Dave is correct about a lot of things. People blow away money on useless stuff too much or makes poor choices in life. Dave went through a lot of errors in life so he's pretty cynically about spending money on useless stuff. For me my 600 dollar stimulus wasn't really much good for heavy duty stuff other than good for a few investments and buying some food. Dave is clear, cut and dry when he tries to give advice.
Ramsey is childishly immature, unaware. I don't know anyone who thought $600 would change their lives, like he said over and over. It was just a bit of money that would help them.
Dave Ramsey is basically financial advice for people with an IQ of less than 100. Which is a lot of people. But he gives some ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE financial advice. He's great for cutting expenses, absolutely atrocious for business, debt issues, using debt to create income. You could get the same advice from most brochures at a bank.

John Delony looked so uncomfortable when Dave was talking about the stimulus. You can tell he doesn't want to be a part of that but can't help it because he needs his job.
i love it when dave ramsey talks about multi-level marketing companies and says they're not all bad and that some people he knows have gotten rich with them -- oblivious to the fact that he met these people at some swanky place in mexico or whatever after he (dave) was already rich. those are the assholes exploiting their downlines, dave! the poor schlubbs thinking they can be rich from MLMs are never going to be rich.
That is not surprising, as Ramsey solutions has some similar concepts to an MLM company in that they sell products for big money that can be obtained just about anywhere for little or no cost.

At first we were everything Dave, but as time went on he did so much to turn us off to the point we could no longer recommend even his books. He is flat out embarrassing. But his crap over Covid ticked me off because almost all people who are his financial peace course and book customers came to him broke or with financial problems. They are the exact ppl he talks crap about! His whole customer base is made up of people who didn’t have their self together when they started. So why didn’t he view the suffering ppl during Covid as simply people who hadn’t had to opportunity to learn his program yet or become financially savvy. He literally talks shit abt potential customers! Many people aren’t broke because they are lazy , it’s because they’ve never been taught how to handle finances. He could have used Covid as an opportunity to offer free outreach programs to help ppl get thru such a tough time. He would have gotten some great publicity. But instead he dogged people out and kicked them during the worst time. He is not a good human.

You can judge a man by who his friends are and if his friend has had affairs on his wife and he's alright with it, that tells me about all I need to know.
The only Biblical reference I could use is the thing with the denarius where Jesus says "render unto Caesar what is Caesar's." So, they should be fine paying the tax, as that's the present law, and how the government uses it is how the government uses it (Although, then you get into the situation of: ok, if the government uses taxes for war, should one not judge how the collected money is used?)
I think the basic logic though for why a Christian might be pro charity vs. government hand out is because, in the prior, it has an additional impact.

If he's such a bully, then why people stay there ? I'm always VERYYY doubtful of who's mainstream medias are trying to dox and destroy.
@@gadriver he’s short, gotta compensate for something.

@Jimbo Jimbo because we are not robots and people like to express themselves in different ways on the internet. You fucking robot.
@@GooseBurt How is 5'10" short lmfao
Whew you did this justice. I stopped watching him a year ago. He’s such a bully and completely out of touch. I’m sorry but the bad outweighs the good at this point
Dave on his show: *acts like a jackass*
Media: “Dave Ramsey is a jackass in real life”
Everyone: *pikachu face*
All rich people are jackasses. What’s so surprising about that
My savings was wiped out from a medical expense that was unexpected.
Dave is good for folks in hair on fire debt, that's about it.
I watch people like Dave Ramsey and Kevin Samuels for the drama.
I'm calling it now... Ramsey is going to pull out a handgun and the damn thing goes off.
Man, I've been quietly following your channel for awhile, and you are a beacon of hope! You being honest, and just transparent helps more people then you realize! Keep up the good work!
@20:37 so he thinks credit cards are the devil because they manipulate people.
Then proceeds to manipulate the lives of every single employee unfortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Listening to this story, the entire time, my jaw was floored.
Working for his company sounds like a bunch of dystopian novels all rolled up into one horrifying, real life, package deal.
Josh, this has been one of your best videos to date. Thank you for calling this fake idiot out.
John Delony looked so uncomfortable when Dave was talking about the stimulus. You can tell he doesn't want to be a part of that but can't help it because he needs his job.
Dr. John was so uncomfortable
John could easily start his own show which is what I predict he will do in the not too far future.
@@Iceman219 he has his own show and it's awesome!
@@vraja5 it's under the Ramsey umbrella, John will leave eventually.
@@kat-oe7gb yeah i knew that. I misunderstood and thought they meant a show in general
i love it when dave ramsey talks about multi-level marketing companies and says they're not all bad and that some people he knows have gotten rich with them -- oblivious to the fact that he met these people at some swanky place in mexico or whatever after he (dave) was already rich. those are the assholes exploiting their downlines, dave! the poor schlubbs thinking they can be rich from MLMs are never going to be rich.
Wait.................so you're saying only the people at the top of the pyramid have the money..........and everybody else goes bankrupt? :-P
That is not surprising, as Ramsey solutions has some similar concepts to an MLM company in that they sell products for big money that can be obtained just about anywhere for little or no cost.
I swear I stopped listening to him when he said MLM’s were not bad and a legit business opportunity when a called asked him about the chance of joining one. That made me realize what a clown Dave Ramsey is.
I bet he is pals with Betsy Devoss -Amway. Who have bullied and brainwashed using Christian teachings to make their billions on the backs of the desperate and gullible.
Man what happened to this man, he used to not act like this a decade ago. Wealth has turned him from a humble man to a arrogant person.
No wonder something felt off with this guy everytime I watched his videos thanks for showing us his true colors.
His shows have only been ‘highlights’ lately.
I watch him because Dr. Phil trainwrecks have dried up.
"i never needed 600 dollars even when i was broke"
ngl, i think the economy was alot more thriving like 20 30 years ago whenever he was broke compared to the global pandemic in 2020
thank you for calling him out josh.
We used the baby steps and it was life changing for us. But we don’t recommend him anymore.
Chris Hogan was fired 3 weeks ago for his affair, Josh. Might want to edit that in

@@gsabella4 So it took 3 years for that to happen? I bet they made a killing after his book tour was over. I highly doubt he is fired for being unfaithful and imagine he still has strong connections behind the scenes. As any smart businessman would do.
@@JoshuaFluke1 1000% agree, man. It's documented that Dave knew about this yet swept it under the rug because yes, Hogan was a major earner, i actually really liked the guy he had a great voice and message.
It took a major uproar and lots of lawsuits to dispatch Hogan but it just happened after a very long time.
I'm a Christian boomer and I would never talk about people this way. He's giving us a bad name. He should be using his money to help people.

My company called it quits during COVID and that stimulus check paid my rent and kept a roof over my head. Yeah, it did change my life.
I stopped listening to this guy a little while ago after I started working in the financial services sector and learned about how much inconsistent and misguided information he says. On top of that, this guy's ideals and values are a little ridiculous. A friend of mine, who was an ex-Christian divorcee, spoke to him about paying off his debt and the first thing Dave said over the phone is that he's clearly not "disciplined" enough to pay off that debt if he couldn't save his marriage or stay a Christian...like wut 😐
I am a christian and I never had the feeling that you attacked christianity when critizising Dave Ramsey.
Some people just don't understand that criticism isn't always an attack and is sometimes actually meant to help you.
Christianity is bullshit
@@darianjohnston1658 It is definitely not, a lot of churches are I will say tho.
Dave Ramsey is just basically negging. Putting people down and then trying to sell something to them to solve what he just put them down for.
This is an even worse form of gaslighting because the subtext is that the people who do need this money don't deserve it, that poverty is a sin of choice not sometimes the result of external forces. If you're broke it's your fault so why do I need to pay taxes if those taxes go towards helping people who broke some sort of rule or did something wrong and don't deserve help.
Entitled rich white guy grievances.
The Horatio Alger bootstrap myth has persisted long enough. The system is rigged against the poor.
@@PhilLesh69 There was no reason to put white in there. @@InvestLarge There was every reason to put white in there. January 6 was about white people who think that they are a tribe and that this country belongs to them. I don't think like they do, I despise those miscreant cons, and I can definitely call out white racists if I want to. If you want to call out other racists and feel like it's unfair to white people, well ... that's something you need to reflect upon. If you take issue with me having a concern about this, maybe you sympathize with them? Maybe your church is telling you that white people are being attacked? Or maybe you think I'm one of them??
Not really because lots of people are really really really bad with money and make absolutely terrible life choices, the waters are deep like an ocean.
As to the racism it's the easiest cop-out argument going. Half the successful people in athletics, movies, and everywhere else are black. Oprah, Michael Jordan, Jackson, etc. Race has nothing to do with success in the modern era.
