    Rolex does not represent good value for the money and frankly their designs have not progressed over the years, not drinking Rolex Kool-Aid. I have an Invicta Pro Diver with an open heart dial and love it.

      Hi Jim, yes I don't own a Rolex either with exception of my Wife's. I think this watch is probably the best mechanical watch for under $100 I have certainly ever seen. Its still in the collection and that really says something considering how often I rotate it!

      Its been said by a highly respected authorized Rolex watch repair specialist trained at the Rolex service center that the Rolex submariner is the best 1000.00 watch money can buy.hmmm,where does the other 8 grand go?

      Sounds great my man,I have owned several Rolex 16610 Submariners that were purchased new by me from an AD.the whole buying new experience was like floating on air with all the goodies that come with closing the deal in the showroom.drifting out the door with that gleaming steel stallion gliding along step by step,stopping into Starbucks for a latte,ahhh,them were the days.

      An open heart on a dive watch is pretty fucken stupid.....i know its not a real iso certified diver like the skx but still.......and the pro diver is the only real value from invicta, everything else is so overpriced...............

    I own an Invicta Pro- Diver, and an Invicta Grand Diver. They are both excellent in every way. I think it is sad to hear some watch “experts” berate Invictas for various reasons, none of which are legitimate and some are downright incorrect. If some think Invictas are ugly, I’ll remind them that I’ve seen hideous watches from many brands besides Invicta. If I think a watch is hideous, I simply don’t buy it. If someone else likes it and buys it, I hope they enjoy it. My congratulations and thanks for a rare and objective review of the Invicta divers.

      I love my Grand Diver that I recently added to my small collection. The black band and blue abalone dial look fantastic together, and I appreciate the larger case diameter, as my wrists are quite massive. They make 40mm cases look like children's watches.

      @@CasualWatchReviews Like others commenting here, I too have a Grand Diver and like it more than the Pro Diver as far as quality. Some may not like that most Grand Divers are slightly larger than the Pro Diver, but it all together feels like a better built product. If you haven't already done so, I'd very much like to see you do a review on a Grand Diver to get your thoughts.🙂

    I own this watch in both automatic and quartz versions. I also own a Rolex Submariner.
    Strapping several thousand dollars to your wrist is not always a good idea, so I use my Invicta as a 'stunt double' for those occasions.
    The quartz version is my 'beater' for when I am shooting, working on the car, or some other activity that might damage an automatic movement.
    What other people happen to think of my wristwatch is a matter of complete indifference to me.

      Invicta has got a very bad reputation because some of their watches are disgustingly ginormous, but the Invicta you were looking at is what has a good reputation. It’s the bad watches they produce that gave them their bad reputation. If I am not mistaken, Invicta is the longest lasting watch brand, correct me if I am wrong.

      @@hugeshows Invicta was started by the Picard family in 1837, at La-Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Older than Seiko, Omega, Rolex, and many more. Sold in the 1970s, they now make a select number of great-value for the money watches, and a huge repertoire of ridiculous watches. I've got a Pro Diver and it's excellent. And cost 1/100 what a Submariner goes for, and is 2/3rds as water resist, while keeping about as good time. The bezel has less backlash than my Rolex Daytona. What Invicta has an eta movement? I'm not talking it down or talking crap, but what invicta has eta movement? Most i've seen is the seiko nh 35 movement which is a great movement, same movement in a lot of microbrand watches, and entry level seikos, but eta movement is usually reserved for hamiltons etc in that price range. Unless a special edition invicta I don't know of ?

    Thank you for your review. It seems like people do like to bash Invicta but they really don't know why (other than styling). They do offer a good value for the money and the build quality is excellent. I have three of them (a Pro Diver, Grand Diver Gen II, and for fun, a Limited Edition Snoopy Lupah) but they all get nice compliments and I never feel that I need to make excuses for them. As for their bold designs like the Bolt or Reserve watches, some may think they are outlandish, but consumers buy them, a lot, so I say rubbish to the nay sayers of Invicta watches, they keep time just as other watches do, and they are fashion statements just as other brands are, so get over it. Enjoy the watch you're wearing no matter what brand it is. That's my two cents worth.

    My (mechanical) watch journey started with the Invicta 9937 (Sub hommage with the ETA-2824), I've worn that watch throughout my college years as a broke college student lusting after Speedmasters and Subs. It has been a few years after college now and my collection now includes a Speedy Pro and a birth year Pepsi GMT, but Invicta still holds a special place in my heart as it was where my journey began and what accompanied me as I lusted after my grails. I honestly don't why Invicta gets so much hate on WUS etc as I believe it to be a great first watch for someone just starting on the WIS journey. Thanks for this excellent review!

    I bought my Invitica 8926ob a couple months ago, been wearing it everyday, hasn't let me down. An awesome timepiece. I bought a cheap automatic watch few years ago and it lasted 20 minutes before it stopped. Crap, straight in the bin. But this is a beautiful watch, keeps accurate time, which is mainly why I wanted one, was tired of getting batteries changed in manuals. I had one person comment and said they love my Rolex Submariner and they have one too. I sadly had to say it isn't a rolex, but I wish it was haha. I said I'm a watch enthusiast and i hope to one day own a sub. Well... a few I wouldn't mind owning. But yes overall I would recommend to anyone buying it. Well worth the money.

Too many people get so attached to their opinions, whether they be automotive, political, religious, or horological, that they are completely unable to ever change them. Nice and honest review
    If you know what to buy, Invictas are the best finished watches for the price, hands down, I own 6 of them (#7 on the way) and many other watches from a Daytona to cheap Armitron plastic sport watches going through G-Shocks, etc...my nicest piece is an original hand wind 1952 Universal Geneve chronograph with moon phases (from my father).
    My Invictas tend to be on the larger size (48 and 50mm chronographs) but nothing flashy, no gold plating (I hate it) or any other plating finishing, no steel wires, spikes, chains and so on....just simple polished steel.
    I noticed your watch packaging is a bit cheaper than the usual Invicta standard (faux leather wrapped box with suede-like lining inside, again, IMHO unbeatable for the price).
    If you are into quartz and want to venture into a tasteful big size Invicta, try a review of the Subaqua Noma III 20155 .....when some "experts" tell me that you can buy a Seiko, Citizen or for the same money and better quality, I usually reply: "when you can find for $129 an all stainless steel Swiss made ETA G10.211 movement Quartz chronograph with a stated 500m WR, screw crown and pushers, with a level of fit and finish that can rub shoulders with 4 figures Tags (scissor like buckle, solid links all the way so smooth that feels like they are running on bearing, etc..) from another brand, please let me know"...silence usually follow....
    I would never buy an homage, but that is just me, I rather have the real thing, thankfully I tend to like certain styles and not a specific model.
    Overall, ignore the snobs and critics and wear what you like.......I love people making fun of Invicta owners and not minding the fact that a Submariner is no more than a $1000 watch in value sold for 8 grand (in US)....
    Regards and keep the videos coming!!

I also bought another one for $58, i mean the value is unbelievable on the second hand market. this one was new and form Ebay. I only bought it to swap out the case so I don't have the magnification on the date window. Invicta should create a secondary brand. Like toyota with Lexus. I know glycine is technically this but they could knock out some fantastic designs and dominate the market

For some, it's just fine, but for others, they report water breach under mild conditions. I would much rather have a watch that may be only slightly less value, but from a more reputable and trustworthy brand, which has tremendous support, and a fantastic reputation. Thanks for a candid and thoughtful presentation that starts by quoting your earlier self as hasty critical upon the brand. You have accommodated your Invicta fan audience with all redemption and helped me as a neophyte understand better a most mysterious product market that holds history, technology, social status, wealth and gimcrack proclivities all in the same amazing basket. I'm the guy with a $1.88 ebay Chinese watch on a British genuine leather strap who stares at this endless watch world asking why do watches make people do what they do or don't do with....watches.
    So when I go walk in the malls (and they still exist, right?) and see Invicta showcase displays in the traditional department stores (they ALL seem to sell Invicta watches!) I know what you mean by the garish models common with the Invicta brand and I'm not thinking I want one like that. Then I stare at these huge polished chunks a bit and begin to consider that well...if I did own that monster Invicta watch for some reason, I'd wear the damn thing just for the spectacle of the object on occasions of whimsy and bling, like when I gel my hair up and back ala Christopher Walken or wear my red Crocs to a restaurant of popular reputation. These loud choices that I cite can provide great liberation in social pathways.
    Today I bought a Casio G-SHOCK GBA-800-4A G-SQUAD Step Tracker Bluetooth for my son who's been dreaming of a G-Shock watch of whatever design for his workouts. This model is bright orange, which is MY choice (should be called the G-Shock X2 for the extra EYE Shock) which holds the logic that when running or biking or kayaking he will have a few more incriments of conspicuous visibility for safety reasons along the perils of play. The Casio's somewhat oversized dimensions and intense detail seem akin to some of the overwrought Invicta models.
    For me the Casual Watch Reviewer's go upon his Invicta specimen, along with the comments I've read about the brand and the market at large now get my own wheels of thought upon what model Invicta I'd like to snatch up for myself when the mood, the price and the piece all say "yes" in sync. AND...those large ostentatious chunk models are fair game as well. I never had a doubt that Invicta watches mark the passing of time with all reasonable assurance, just as the subject model in the video was shown to do.
    In closing, my "hour glass"....it times out at 28 minutes. Imagine that! Why 28 minutes?

    I have an old one of these (without Micky) with the non-hacking Myota movement. I don't know how old the watch, is because I bought it very cheaply at a thrift store. The owner probably donated the watch because they jammed up the bezel. I don't care about the bezel. The Invicta still runs within spec parameters. The appearance is still like-new. I also get compliments when I wear it.

    Thanks for the review. Thanks also for the Watch Tracker tip. I downloaded it and have just started to use it. I do have a timegrapher, but this app is also useful. Whilst the timegrapher will help in adjusting a watch, in that it lets you see how the watch is performing in different attitudes, the Watch Tracker app lets you keep track of how it is performing dynamically over time on the wrist. Another advantage of the timegrapher is that if say a watch is going slow on the wrist it can be possible to set it down overnight in a position which the timegrapher has found it gains time. In that way, the watch can be corrected without manually having to pull the winder out.

    Ive just bought a Pro Diver. And I bought it for what it is not what it potentially looks like. If I was to be asked about the watch, saying that its an Invicta shouldn't bring about embarrassment. The only thing embarrassing at the end of the day is that a Rolex owner might beat you to the market by a few seconds.

    I had a feeling you'd end up liking it! I'd gotten the 9094OB as my first auto (well, the first one I bought for myself, anyway) a while back. It's definitely a great watch for the price. I didn't want an Invicta, but a watch with that NH35A movement couldn't be got for less than $300 when I was looking around.

  • @ronjenkins4257

    The criticisms of Invicta are silly.
    "Fugly watches" ==> then don't buy their ugly models
    "Ridiculous list prices" ==> then don't pay list
    "Poor quality control" ==> debatable, but if you get a lemon just exchange it for a good one
    "Derivative design" ==> then buy one of their fugly watches
    Thanks for the honest review. I'm happy with my Pro Diver. It keeps good time and is a solid piece of watchmaking. So many of the criticisms of Invicta seem to come from defensiveness, perhaps from people who are trying to justify the more expensive watch purchases they made. And one day I might drop a bundle on a watch. But that won't make me turn into an Invicta critic.

    I really enjoyed your video on this. Subbed & notified! These watches with the SII NH-35A movement are pretty accurate (especially when regulated) and represent great bang-for-buck when bought from a reputable Ebay seller or Amazon Prime, like I've done. I have 2 of the larger (47mm, for my 8.75" wrist) "Grand Diver" models that I paid ~ $100.00 for about 6 years ago and still going strong after EDC-type wear. The lume isn't that great, but I've never had _any_ problems with either, and that includes swimming, showering and plenty of outdoor wear. One is the blue dial, the other has a lime-green luminescent dial which actually does have a little better lume than the blue one. The solid end links on the bracelet are a nice touch, especially at the price, and the clasp and bracelets are still tight and perfectly reasonably worn after all the [-]ell I've put them through.

    I was getting much respect watching this. Cheers for spending the time and money to investigate as it actually serves you as much as your viewing audience. At least YOU give what I feel is an HONEST response. Right up to aprox 10:oo where you start worrying about making excuses for wearing it. Like getting caught walking out of a cat house at 2am. "I'm here to visit my sister" but that is still honest. Another reviewer bought one with Mickey but he got the big Mickey in the middle and I do agree, it does somewhat obscure the time telling a bit. I got one for my wife years ago because she draws blood at the hospital. This was a big help dealing with kids as a slight distraction. This other reviewer returned to complaining about the Invicta LoGo all over the watch as well as, it rattles, isn't finished well... (Gawd knows NO other brand does that!) Others, not you, simply refuse to give up the rude unjustified comments based on ?Fear? myths? just plain gossip. I still think you did a good job. the lady at the market? I think the Invicta pro diver is one of the most underrated dive watches on the market. I own 3 Omegas and a Rolex, and yes in my collection is also an Invicta pro diver. Truth is I bought it years ago before I could even enter the arena of high end Swiss watches, and yes I got tons of compliments on the watch. In truth, I’ve had less people notice my Speedy pro over my Invicta. I'd say most people even some watch snobs will agree that the Invicta pro diver is an excellent watch. Yes, you can get a good watch in an Invicta. However, there are three areas that have given Invicta a bad name, and I'm not talking about their more extreme looking watches. First, it is their obviously over inflated suggested retail prices. Second, is their quality control. Third, their customer service. A few years ago the BBB of Florida gave them a D-, and even an F.
    For a lark I bought an Invicta Sub look alike. The bezel literally fell off the watch after a couple of years. In short, Invicta could do better in the above three mentioned areas. Just something to be aware of. Like others here, I'm not a fan of watch snobs. I have found that the worst ambassadors of something, anything are snobs. It was a good, honest review. Thank you.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  6 років тому

      Hi Leslie, I would agree with everything you said there. I agree about the RRP prices being outrageous and I was joking about Disney but we frequently go to Disney land and they do sell these at close to the retail in the parks. And for the RRP they absolutely don't offer value for money. So a normal uneducated shopper may take the price on face value and shell out over $700 for the pro diver.
      I have not experienced any quality issues with mine in fact the opposite but thanks for sharing your experience. If I did experience any issues I would be inclined to give Invicta a bit of a pass depending on the fault after the just appalling quality issue I had with my Seiko PADI I paid well over $700 for. I brought it because of all the controversy about it, I did my research first and find out that the only con is that the movement has 2 plastic pieces inside that they worn off about 7 years of usage, other that that you can blame human error, tanks for being honest about this watch, I know that one amazing line (pro divers) don’t redeem and entire history of company miss shots, but this one is right on target, cheers!!!!

    The NH3x lineage is in every way a Seiko movement even though it is sold by the TMI division, it is without question a Seiko. I have the Snoopy version of the same watch and frankly, it has been the second most accurate watch I own out of the box and unregulated after my Orient Bambino. I own a timegrapher and regulate my own watches but didn’t even bother with the Invicta because I think it runs about +3 sec/day. A note on timegraphers. They will tell you what your watch is doing in a precise moment but they cannot really tell you how accurate your watch will be over a long period of time and affected by your wearing habits and activity. In other words, I’ve regulated a watch down to +/0.0 and it will still gain or lose time depending on how I wear it. So I usually set all my Seikos at +10 sec/day and then when worn, I’m usually around +/- 4 sec/day. My only issue with the Invicta is the excessive amount of branding on the case, dial, bracelet, etc. My SKX still gets the most wrist time of any watch I own and I have upgraded it to the NH36 which gives it all the features of the Invicta (hacking & hand winding, improved accuracy) while remaining a Seiko through and through. Thanks for the review and your frank, unbiased assessment. A crime against horology has to be my favorite part though. But many watch manufacturers are equally guilty, but Invicta probably rightly so, get the brunt of it.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  6 років тому +1

      Hi Steve, thanks for all that additional information. I would be really interested to learn how you regulate your own watch. That little Invicta is still in my collection and not going anywhere fast! Mine is also very accurate! Thanks so much for watching and commenting

      The Casual Watch Reviewer I bought a Weishi 1000 timegrapher on eBay for about $150. I was originally using an app on my iPhone called Hairspring but it was a bit finicky and not as sensitive as an actual timegrapher designed for the task. Adjusting the spring to correct for beat error and timing requires very, and I mean VERY, steady hands. Moving the lever an almost visually imperceptible amount can change the rate by as much as 30 to 60 seconds per day. It takes some practice to learn how to dial it in just right, but if you’re patient, it can be achieved by mere mortals like us.

    With a fairly complete collection of luxury watches, including a Rolex Sub, I decided I needed a beater/beach "disposable" watch. As you pointed out, Invicta has somehow gotten a reputation for being a cheap fake. As I was looking for my beater watch, I kept looking at the Invicta Sub homage. With a bit of embarrassment, I bought one for even less than you paid. I figured it would be stored away or even thrown away pretty quickly.
    As soon as I got I put a NATO on it and removed the cyclops. I still thought the engraved 'Invicta" logo on the side was tacky and I didn't like the Mercedes hour hand. But the watch was otherwise (surprisingly) well made.
    I took it to the beach and wore it all week. I kept checking the time against my world clock and noticed that it was running 1-2 seconds fast every day (as good or better than my 4 figure mechanicals).
    Needless to say, it's become my favorite (non social occasion) weekend watch. I still don't like the Mercedes hour hand. But I don't even think about the engraved "Invicta" logo. And I enjoy changing NATO straps to fit my mood or a special occasion.
    Thanks for an honest video that told it like it is - even knowing that it might bruise your horological cred. Brave man! And thank you for boosting my comfort in wearing a watch that has such an undeserved negative reputation.

I would have maybe also changed the dial but I have grown very fond of Micky proudly on there!

    I don't like Invicta's huge, gaudy watches but I really like their Pro Diver and Speedway series, as well as their Specialty lineup. I've had my Pro Diver 9094OB since January of 2018 and it gradually became my default watch. I don't need Rolex quality everyday; I just need something that's built well, doesn't cost a fortune, and looks good with anything I wear.
    And then today i got my new Pro Diver 1770. It's a bit of a departure from the Submariner because now it's 43mm, has a black/red bezel around a black dial, and a *quartz* chronograph, Yes it still looks a lot like a Sub but no one will mistake it for a Rolex; it's its own thing. And the kicker is, I got it for just $54. The bezel action is a little rough but it feels less 'clicky', and the crown is a screw-down crown as opposed to what reviewers are seeing on their units, which are push crowns. The crown threads in with a noticeably rough feeling but, oh well, at least it screws in tight.

    I have around 15 different Invicta watches and have had no serious issues with any of them. All have Japanese or Swiss movements not Chinese. I have Seiko and Citizen watches and have had some issues with them. Invicta is surprisingly in the same price range as Seiko, Citizen, Nixon, Fossil, Guess and other lower cost affordable watches. They aren’t as accurate as the Rolex, PP or other way out of the normal price range watches are but are decent. They are a very respectable build quality for the cost. The Swiss quartz movement units are a pain to change batteries and are stiff to pull the crown out on unlike the Japanese movements. I have no qualms on buying more Invictas but I do look at the moments installed to see what they have in them. They are no better or worse then any of the other "affordables".

    Is your invicta hackable and hand winding? If not then I doubt that the movement is the same as the Seiko watches you mentioned which use the 6R15 and are hackable and windable and have a 50 hr power reserve along with sapphire crystal.

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  6 років тому

      Hey, yes it is hacking and handwinding, it is the unbranded 4R35 movement from the Seiko owned company TMI. I was surprised as any one when I received the watch and started researching it for part 1 of this video. Look it up yourself its called the NH35 TMI movement. Seems I have been massively over paying for this movement in other watches as you can buy them at cost around $30 US. It doesn't have sapphire crystal... but neither does my speedmaster

      I may be wrong but If you look on Amazon it clearly lists the Samuri as 4R35. I researched the video from here watchbase.com/seiko/caliber/4r35 I try and get multiple sources before I make a statement. @cybrough 6 років тому

      My mistake, I took a second look at the case back and the Samurai does have a 4R35 movement. However I think the Seiko is a much better watch over all. What model number for the Invicta?

    • @CasualWatchReviews
      @CasualWatchReviews  6 років тому

      My argument was not that I think invicta make great watches, in fact some of there watches are just horrific looking. I think this watch however represents a great value and made me question most watches in this 'mid' price range. Yes I believe Seiko make better watches also, although I believe this Invicta keeps better time than and automatic seiko I have owned. My argument was that I paid $65 for this watch and the seiko Samurai is $330. Its even more shocking to think that the SXX009 has an even more inferior movement than the Invicta. I think mine was a limited edition so its no longer available. Looks like the updated version is MODEL 24753.

    Great video. I have everything from Breitling to invicta. My point is not everyone can afford and even if they can afford, say a Rolex, they choose to spend their money differently. A good review, and kudos for accepting when you may have been wrong with your initial opinion. My only issue with Invicta is that because of the Pro Diver it almost devalues Seikos with the same movement. I can't stomach something like a Samurai at £300 when this uses the same movement for £50 or so. And when you consider that price there are watches available with the ETA 2824-2 for £300 ish.
    I'd love to see something like the Seiko SKX updated with the NH35 (the branded Seiko equivalent) but at it's current price. It would make the SKX seem more worthwhile.

    Whenever someone asks me why I buy Rolex submariner homages not the real one:
    1. I can’t afford Rolex.
    2. Even if I could, why pay for a Rolex while you can get a homage at 1/100 of a Rolex price?
    3. While I love the design, I despise how exorbitantly priced a Rolex is. Hence I buy homages, not replicas, nor counterfeits.
    For those watch snobs, homages is not fakes nor replicas. They are a nod of acknowledgement to the original design by other affordable brands.

      I have mixed views on this, I think there are ‘homages’ that cross the line.. quite a bit. Like Parnis and Steinhart. I changed the hands on this invicta and now the dial to make it more of an unique design.

    • @ocb05
      @ocb05 5 років тому +1

      The Casual Watch Reviewer Invicta in a way, is unique. Those engravings and oversized logo, you and me like it or not, it’s very own trademark already made the brand very outspoken.
      Rolex might be the first one to launch such design, but doesn’t mean it has 100% right of it forever. Afaik brand name and logos are protected, but those are not patents, but copyrights. Even they wanna go after homages, it would be difficult as measurements and parts might be totally different.
      Homage in my definition is a clear cut case from replicas. The brand must be different. It is alright for me as long as the brand is distinguished no matter how similar they are to the original. Homage is actually respect paid to Rolex.
      Anyway that’s my 2 cents, cheers!

      Seiko does all sorts of things that make me question them. They'll throw a cheaply made folded metal band on a $100+ watch and give it 30 meters water resistants with no hand winding or hacking. Yet you have companies like Orient, Invicta and others who give you allot more bang for the buck with similar or even better build quality.
      I just don't understand Seikos strategy. It's as if they're competing with themselves, so they don't undermine their higher end offerings while the competition cleans the floor with Seiko.

      @@RobertNES816 just to let you know, Orient is owned by Seiko, but you are right. I love Seiko watches but they need to begin providing better braclets & sapphire crystal glass for their £300 plus watches AT LEAST! I bought the Invicta Pro Diver over the Seiko 5 Sports. Same movement, NH35a is an unbranded Seiko 4R35 movement. You get a similar looking watch with the same movement 200mtr water resistant, screw down crown & costs way less than the Seiko 5 Sports. Makes HUGE SENSE!

    But why the mouse edition though?

    Great review! I own myself two pro and one Grand Diver. The only concern I have with them is that cheap aluminum bezel insert. I tried once a Parnis Sea Dweller and that cheap replica had chinese sapphire and a real ceramic bezel insert. But other than that I love those pro divers. Cheers!

      Hey thanks for watching and commenting, I still have this watch in my collection! there is a certain charm about it for sure and you can get an aftermarket ceramic for it I think
