The city should reopen it as a public field (for little league and junior leagues) and fix it up/ change it a bit for more accessibility. Even the MLB could use it as a Play Ball field for kids - an issue the MLB has with not having as much interest as other sports is seen a lot as youth interest. Opening up a big baseball facility that is run by the MLB and for youth baseball is a great way to increase youth interest in the sport
Chrisbaseball7 I agree The current plan is to turn it into a multipurpose center for all ages and sports. Shreveport could really use it 🙏🏼 so your dreams will possibly come true. With the MLB logo it’d definitely increase the revenue and attendance for sure but I think if it’s done right then it’ll all work out on the business side of things.
I grew up in Shreveport, went to capt Shreve high school. Me and dad used to sit along the 1st baseline in the VIP section. I was going there when Mackey Sasser was catching for the captains. lot of great memories there and it they just let it run down. Yeah, they should fix it back up so that the little leagues can play there. I played in the babe Ruth league there in Shreveport
Itsme Forsure the biggest problem is the bat infestation. If the stadium behind it wasn’t there, I’m sure this one would’ve been re-purposed a long time ago
The city is a dangerous place to be, that's why Shreveport is dying. I left there back in 2000, had all I could take. Shreveport used to be a nice city to live in.
@@kizentheslayer yep, done turned into a fuckin hell hole for sure. Was once a nice place to live, don't take a rocket scientist to see what happened....
@@kizentheslayer I was born there, pretty much sucks to not even want to visit my relatives that refuse to move. They live out in the Kiethville area tho, so they ain't in the shit too bad.
I was fortunate to catch the Shreveport Captains playing in this stadium in 2011 - the final year they played here. One highlight I was able to catch can be seen here: ua-cam.com/video/BkGLZfYp6hg/v-deo.html It's sad to see Fair Grounds Field in the condition it's in here.
I remember seeing Neal mccoy concert with my family when he came out with the new song the shake dam that's more than 18 years ago I'm 34 now I was between 5 and 10 years old at the time
So many good memories as a kid being brought to the Shreveport Captians games with my dad. I had a great childhood
I was there on opening night back in 86. Had a good time. Sad to see it abandoned.
Nice share man keep it up brodee place looks mint surprisingly
Zero Occupancy urbex thanks brotha! Means a lot!
At the 31 second mark l could feel the emotions inside my heart utter!
Me thinks many more abandoned places will be appearing throughout.. bright sun took me here best regards..

Go to old school on ellerbe rd .... haunted abandoned school
HOUSTON ROCKETS #1 fan we’ve been before, there really isn’t a whole lot to film but I suppose for the legends sake I’ll have to.
They tore it down from what I heard
some of those seats look brand new. They must be cutting the grass occassionally since it doesn't look that bad. If you fix it up, they will come.

Bats.... "The flying kind that is." 🤣😂🤣😂
RuZ Vibez we aren’t scared of much, but we are scared of rabies
I used too wonder abt this place like what would they do to it
I imagine it’ll be demolished. There’s group in Shreveport that wants to turn it into a multi-purpose sports center for kids but I doubt it’ll happen.

How hard was it to access?
You just sort of walk right in honestly.

They just announced plans to demolish it today, I used to love going to see the captians play when I was little
Man, that sucks.
I had good times there too back in the 80s.
Just saying i busted one of those big windows😂😭
