I absolutely adore this video. I didn't get into GH and Scorehero until late 2006 when I was like 9 years old, so I didn't know most of this history. Incredibly well-researched and wonderfully put together video. I'm honored to have my gameplay prominently featured throughout the majority of it. Keep up the great work
I first played Guitar Hero games or rhythm games when I was 11 years old in 2010. No joke, that was the also the first time I played on Easy difficulty on Guitar Hero 1. Then in a different house I moved to in 2012, I tried to beat the game on Medium. Another different house I moved to in early 2014, I tried out Hard difficulty and had to get used to the orange button in the first place before trying that difficulty. Then when I did Guitar Hero: Aerosmith in 2015 (once again at a different house I moved to), I finally decided to try beating Expert difficulty, and I did so. And my first ever Expert FC on Guitar was Dream Police by Cheap Trick (658 Note Streak). It took me 5 years from 2010-2015 to level up from Easy to Expert, and over the years I’ve gotten better at Expert Guitar and Bass until in 2016 when I decided to massively switch over to Rock Band games instead of Guitar Hero games anymore. But starting on Guitar Hero was nostalgic to me for sure, The first time I recognized Guitar Hero was when my Dad bought that game without me asking him. Maybe he wanted me to try out that game when I was getting used to listening to a lot of music. I obviously love Rock Band a lot more than Guitar Hero nowadays. Happy days. 😉🥰👍❤️
ES942 here, awesome video packed with nostalgia... it's funny being associated with being "ahead of the curve" especially with the gods that are playing now. Can't wait to strap in for the Guitar Hero 2 video!!
Damn I was expecting the score progression of Jordan but honestly this is probably more interesting. Cool to see the origins of the competitive scene for GH. Nice video Etienne!
I grew up with GH3, and I honestly always thought that the series didn't blow up until 2 for some reason. Seeing this video cleared that up concisely, so thanks!
Man, this really takes me back when I was 16yo. I used to lurk SH almost 24/7 at this point in time when I started getting into this game. Seeing old names like popemobile, Lo7, strikebowler585, k3v, all punches me in the face with nostalgia. Great research and thanks ton for this, I really enjoyed it and can't wait for more like usual!

GH2 was my first game in the series so I look forward to your score progression video of it. I believe Freddie Wong’s YYZ video was the first video I ever watched on UA-cam now that I think about it.
1:30 "Set It Off" Good job, GameSpot :P This is fantastic. As you've discovered, it's really hard to find documentation for the earliest games. Great research on this!
Its unbelievable you made a video this interesting with pretty much no video footage from the actual gameplay moments. It was great to learn the history from this game ive never played.
This almost made me cry. I was intensely into the Guitar Hero community and I was there when all of this went down: it reminds me of the better parts of my childhood.
At some point you should do a video about the history of GH customs, from Riff’s early GH1 work through GH2, GH3, and CH (possibly also including the offshoot “bleep bloop” community spearheaded by guys like preb but which really exploded in the GH3 era). GH2 and even GH1 modding still happens today, even though CH is the dominating meta.
Very excited to watch. Just wanted to say I love your content, and your channel is really filling a niche that I wasn't aware I wanted filled. Keep up the great work, and always looking forward to more content!
I was very active in scorehero at the time, brings back memories. One thing I wished you touched more upon was the fact that GH2 was already out by the time a lot of the really hard GH1 songs were still un-fced. Like, even Jordan got fced before bark at the moon did.
Fantastic video, but now I'm sad. To be 10 and wail on the dualshock playing Crossroads without having to worry about anything... I was happier but didn't know it.
Super sick to see the history of gh in a video like this man. Would be awesome to see some old school players see stuff being done nowadays...looking RIGHT at you schmooey
Awesome as always. Been so excited for a new score progression for ages and this certainly did not disappoint. Huge amount of effort, incredible content
GH1 was so different to the games, that came afterwards. It's pretty easy to FC GH1 in Clone hero, but a very different story to do it in the actual game.
Now this is epic, for someone that didn't know anything of this was happening in the interweb around that time because I was a kid without internet, it's nice to see you covering this topic, thanks and keep the great work as always.
Love the awesome nostalgia you’ve been bringing to the classic GH community. I missed most of the hype in this video because I came on board a few months after GH2 and didn’t get involved in the community till even later, but I do remember the last 3 or so songs dropping, including BatM.
I play on Clone Hero, but i choked You Got Another Thing Coming 6 times in the last three days just because of that last strumming section... hats off to all the people that got FC's on GH1!
There is a nice song by exile lord called "Monochrome". Although the song seems easy for a 1 man playthrough, exile lord has stated that the chart is made for 1 player, 2 controllers, since the chart has a coop guitar and bass. And nobody has FC ed it properly to this day. Might be interesting to look.
'The next one should be obvious' Of course my man Guitar Praise, a classic. Id guess reason why transitioning to a tigher engine from a losser is, because it isn't that bad, from my experience at least, i cannot FC the songs, but i do almost as well on GH 2 and 80's and pretty well on GH 1 compared to latter, even if they are far tighter, i do admit though, im always in the red with Cowboys from Hell.
Can you maybe search some history to do a score progression for Rock Band 1 or 2 Expert Setlist? Green Grass and High Tides was the hardest to FC in Rock Band 1, then Bodhisattva & Visions were REALLY hard to FC. They gotta know the history of the first ever FC on Visions on Expert.
Is it just me or do the transitions sound like a slowed down "everything is in its right place" by radiohead? I sped it up and it sounds like a echoed version of it
Interesting that HOPOs work more like how they actually work on a real guitar in gh1. Wish there was an option in clone hero to make them work like this
Just about the only chapter of GH history I was never really a part of. I was around when BatM got FC'd, I think (I officially joined in '07), but I don't think I was an active member until closer to '08. Shit be crazy in GH1. You should check out how crazy actual score competition got on lower difficulties (Medium stands out especially; not the least in part because I had my own crack at that and got into the top 5 there). I know it's not nearly as interesting as Expert because it's not Expert, but still. Any chance of covering the rest of the GH games? What about the other instruments for WT-onward? I think there are plenty of stories to tell on Bass (Please talk about GreenbayMackey and Jprez!), Drums (sulfurus, Warlord, and arvain; I'd include myself again but I was more on Easy/Medium/Hard, not Expert), and Vocals (WhYYZ, Werelord, and Wooffus). Also, I just noticed you called them "score progressions", but you don't really talk about the squeezing battles all that much in these. I understand if it's either not interesting or just hard to source, or if it's just a holdover from talking about StepMania, etc. content where "score progression" speaks for itself, but I have to admit it's a little bit of a misnomer to me.
I really think the next video should be this but for GH3. GH3 was the prime and most popular game in the series with arguably the strongest set list. I feel that GH3 is far more influential for people, as it was definitely the most legendary GH
This video makes me want to cry, probably because time flies and the ScoreHero community was so lively back then compared to today. The aftermath of Strike leaving the community still hits hard.

This video is 100% Scorehero nostalgia for me. Thanks for this Etienne!
Same.

I have never heard "more accurately" and "GH1 chart" in the same sentence until now

Well, it blew up, it sold well, but it did really gain major publicity with 2 and then later on with 3, it blew up yes, but not as much as other 2.
It blew up three times, really.
b3nz0r here, just found the video. Miss all you folks. HellAshes, Kov, WiseMoose, Wulfe, and of course my arch rival, ES942

gh custom history vid is my dream
@@stephgh1flamyphantom230 yea a lot of the history is kinda lost, but Scorehero is still a gold mine for a large chunk of it.
Manuel Gallardo I mean yea that’s part of the history too
I'd love to see mentioning of the RB customs community and C3.
Thank you UA-cam algorithm for finding this gem for me! Enjoyed the whole video and am waiting for next!

Strikebowler FCed Smoke On The Water last, wow it's crazy that he could take down such a monster actually, it's harder than Soulless 4 creary

Omg, all the nostalgia! Remember seeing each one of this accomplishments and each legendary player!! Thank you for this video
This was an incredible video, I really hope we get to see full setlists for GH2/80s and 3 as well !
Another amazing video man. I was expecting something completely different but this was something else man
i kept thinking Jordan was gonna be brought up, but then i remembered,

Awesome new video!! Finally score progression of gh after a year!!!
You guys tell in the comments about your first ever experience with Guitar Hero or Rock Band. 😉

The first scene of guitar hero playthrough in this video is Six by All That Remains on Guitar Hero 2 if some of you dont know. One of my favorites.
Amazing history of both the game and community sick vid
Another fantastic video, keep this up man! They are so entertaining and fun, truly brings me back to the glory days we once had.
Slow ride on easy score progression, next?
I'm just watching and rewatching these videos waiting for the GH3 one

Gh1 engine ttfaf FC when?
I love these sooooo much!
So it took longer to FC GH1 than GH2.
Whoa, nice... I never knew all this happened for Guitar Hero 1. What about a game like Guitar Hero 2?
Very insightful video!
I remember getting my GH3 PS3 bundle in 2009 ☺️ still have it
