Here’s my review what a great build from Epiphone . After a small setup, oiled the fretboard, nut file on Low E and B, new D'Addario 10's wrap-around bridge, set string height to med-low, intonation on B and high E strings. The pickup heights were good. Plugged her in and boy what a surprise. The best playing and sounding Epiphone I've played. Nice growl with the P90's, and the neck pickup does a beautiful woman tone with Sustain for days. The plastic Knobs are cheap and could fit lower onto the shaft so they don't go off tilt. The shafts are a bit hard to roll but might get better with use or I'll spray them with lube. Great guitar and the copper color looks amazing. This is ready to gig.

Bought the custom inlay version. Needed some minor adjustments with intonation, action height, pickup height but they all need some dialing in. Still same strings on it, they sound fine and play nice. When i do change strings I'll take the time to polish frets and lube the fretboard. For now she's a beast!!! I plan on getting the plain fretboard version but suspect it'll be a beast as well.

I had to do a little work on mine. I changed the strings, set the pickups(neck pu was way high) and the intonation was way off on a few strings. Action was good and the neck was pretty straight. Overall a really nice guitar with a unique finish. I do prefer the 60’s neck also but it’s easy to adjust. I did use my 20% off coupon, which made it easier on pocketbook but still a bargain at list, which includes a nice hard shell case.

A dream deluxe Epiphone Les Paul : nitro finish, steel frets, cut-away neck, bone nut, custombuckers, CTS 500k Pots, good gig bag (who needs a cumbersome case!?). NO push pulls or any fancy electronic crap, ebony compound fret board and pearl inlays, locking tuners, Handwired with Orange Drops capacitors, Aluminium Tune-O-Matic bridge. How much could that possibly be? I’d even cut the binding and just have some nice rolled edges… without a maple top, like the Les Paul Special. Let’s call it THE Un-Custom Shop Deluxe !❤

@@lifeofthetheatre it sounds like you want to look for an old Gibson Tribute with P90s on Reverb, then swap out the pickups for mini humbuckers and the pots and caps for the ones you've specified.
All in, I expect that'll still be cheaper than the recent top end Epiphones.
You won't have the cutaway or the steel frets, but it covers quite a bit of your shopping list.
      Option B: get an ESP.
Option C: find a custom luthier. It can actually be cheaper to get one built than you think.

For marketing about the CTS pots/Mallory caps - While a good portion of people who'd be looking at buying this guitar can do their own work, there's still quite a few who can't (or won't) and will pay someone to make the change from something cheaper. So it's not just that it's 30ish or so in parts, there's also the cost of the labor to have it switched. Even if you do your own work, is your time free? Time/money to get the parts? Time to take out the old and install the new? That's where a lot of people miss the bigger picture (this is true in anything, not just guitars). Your time is valuable - how valuable is up to you, but you should always place value on your time, no matter what you are doing. Should they hype is that much? Probably not, but don't devalue it (or your time) either.

Hey mate in your opinion This one or the epip les Paul modern I saw that review also

@@mammoth123. 2 very different sounding and feeling guitars. If you like slimmer necks and lots of tonal options then go for the modern, if you just want a cool looking Les Paul with a no fuss tone and a chunky neck then go for the 55
As much as I like the thinner necks on Les Paul’s I’d probably be happier with this

The setup is down to the shop that's selling it. If you're buying from a discount online warehouse type place, then they're not going to set it up. You'll spend the money you saved getting it professionally set up, so may as well support your local guitar shop by giving them your business, and get the setup for free.
The reason you won't get a setup out the box on a guitar that has spent months in a shipping container at various temperatures and humidity levels, and then having been left to sit on a warehouse shelf once it's arrived in country, is because wood moves.
There's literally no point in setting up a new guitar in China, loading it onto a container, and expecting nothing to have shifted months later when you take it out of the box in a totally different climate.

So you’re not paying for the Gibson name. Gibson selling this type of Les Paul with a hard case for $850 would ruin their bottom line with their “real” Les Paul’s that are more and more expensive. They’re trying to normalize paying over $2000 for a decent Gibson these days. Too much for a guitar with lesser electronics

By the way, I NEVER thought I’d buy any Epiphone. They’ve always been cheap Gibson knockoffs for people on a budget that want a classic model. This one will be my first Epiphone, but I’m on the fence on the Hendrix Love Drops too

Old Gibsons were great new ones not so much so. And most people can’t afford Gibsons. Fenders are not what they used to be either. You can talk bad about Epiphone but they have made huge improvements in the last few years.

@@connielangum4578 I’m not talking bad about what they are doing now. I’m very on the fence about buying the new one, but I do hate that for decades it’s been a cheaper versions of guitars we actually wanted but couldn’t afford. These days you’d have to be in a demographic other than young and starting out to afford one of their better guitars
