His wife replaced him faster than the band did.
Most accurate comment so far
Yeah so many suspects that made Chester long gone. 🤷
Ooooohhhhhhh!! lol sad to say you ain’t lying
Yeah, and had her new marriage date set, what? Three days after her and Chester anniversary?
January 1st and January 4th.
Gross.
Bam. All other things that come out are now redundant
The more i hear about chester's family the more i feel bad for him.
Yeah Chester's mom the same person he wrote numb about, the women that let his son get SA, the women that lost custody of him

The more I hear FROM his family, the more I feel bad. Leave him alone. He isn't here to speak on anything
Chester didn't hate his mother after all, so don't speak for a man who died is stupid
They're so insufferable. Chester would support this direction of LP
One men can saves millions lives but millions can't save one men ❤
We will miss you chester😢
Always love for Chester. I stopped trusting Mike when there was sketchy interviews back in the day.

Where were they when he was not feeling good? Mom...
That's the same mother that let him get abused and the same mother that lost custody of him, the same mother that believes on conspiracy theories about his death, she's trash
He did get killed by the deep state though, so did Chris Cornell. Becouse they were against child abuse and they got too close to uncovering the pedo ring.
Sheesh! Hard but, all of what she did lead to what he finally did…
She was a nurse. How the fuck can somebody be a nurse with zero empathy?

The same mom who was responsible for Chester's abuse during childhood??? pathetic . I love Chester but I also know the claim she is making is so spurious.
Right?
Guess that makes it ok for LP to replace Chester within someone in a cult that abuses children then???
Oh
Yup!! That claim that Mike put him down and was willing to replace him with a female back then sounds ridiculous. Lol CAP
Nobody is perfect. You do not know her intentions.
Mike at the show "And playing the part of Chester, is all of you" points to the crowd. So yeah did bring up Chester and it was a very nice moment where he was making it very clear Emily was never meant to replace him because he's still here in the hearts of everyone who love him.
exactly. Idk why everyone hates Mike. He and Chester were the closest friends. He decided to move on after 7 years and suddenly everyone's after him.
@@wargha4957 It only took 7 years for US to know. The album has been in the works since his passing & for years Mike has been searching for a replacement. there was NOT an appropriate timespan in between & Mike did in fact rush to replace him.
@@briannanovak4759 I'm pretty sure that this reunion happened spontaneously because I remember a livestream about a year ago where Mike was talking about his newest song "Already Over" saying he is currently working on new music but doesn't wanna make another solo album, he just wanted to release individual songs every other month. Well, it has been 11 months and he didn't release a single new song in that time. So I guess this was shortly before Joe approached him and said they should get together more and either all those songs Mike was working on became Demos for From Zero or he scrapped them altogether and they put together an album in under a year.
@@briannanovak4759 you don't know that at all, you're just assuming all of that. An album can be written and recorded within a year , you're just guessing that he was working on straight after he died.
@@MaxsonYT the auditions for vocalists were over a year ago, about this time last year. It’s not spontaneous to plan out that much. write/ record an album have her working on the songs for the performance the band practicing together, working on PR. This was not a “spontaneous” decision

@libertycaps666 no kidding. I always thought it was about his dad
Any proof?
why would Chester confide in his mother when he himself said he didn't have any kind of relationship with her, especially after he told her he was being abused and she blew him off; and why does Samantha keep sticking her nose in ... unless it's for another payout
This.
Did not know this
@@amazed92 I would really like to hear Tenda’s thoughts and feelings on this
I would like to know what his wife thinks not Samantha, but his wife tahinda
She left Chester with his dad when he was 11 and she left! That caused him trauma and made it easier to be a victim of abuse! Chester did eventually go back to briefly live with her when he was 17 and she kept him locked at home because of his addictions! And for the "reference/citation needed people" there are plenty of video interviews from Chester online telling the story himself.
Tell me you want money without telling me you want money. No wonder he was deppresed as fuck.
He wrote numb about her. She let him be SA’d…. She lost custody…
His mom doesn’t get to speak on him after that.
My heart hurts for Chester
I have been searching the interwebs for an hour looking for anything to confirm what you said. Here is what I've found:
1. The song is about a teenager suffering from the stress of a parent's expectations (NOTHING TO DO WITH SA!)
2. Yes, Chester's father was granted full custody (usually meaning physical custody) of Chester in his parents' divorce. There is no reason being specified. So, it could have been an amicable decision, it could have been that Chester's father had a higher income and more available time. Winning full physical custody does NOT mean his mother had no visitation privileges and it does NOT mean she was not given joint legal custody!
3. Chester stated in multiple interviews, he NEVER TOLD ANYONE ABOUT THE SA! That means his mother DID NOT KNOW and, therefore, did not LET him be SA'd. She would be unable to protect him from something she knew NOTHING ABOUT!
4. Chester CHOSE to go live with his mother when he was 17 years old, seeking her help with his drug and alcohol addiction. No one seeks help like that from someone they do not feel safe with!
5. The last photo, before Chester's death, of Chester and his mother shows them both smiling and standing close to each other. If Chester hated his mother, why would he pose for the photo with her?
His mother has more of a right to speak on her feelings about Mike breaking his promise to give her a head's up than you have a right to judge her. So, STFU!

Sad. Seams Bennington's wife is the only person with enough grace to recognize Chester would have wanted his bandmates to continue to create, be happy, and move on.
Not really, Chester’s son wanted it to happen too, he said this on the livestream he was on the other day, just that he wanted it to happen in a more ethical way, for them not to choose a Scientologist singer and for them to acknowledge and respect Chester in every show. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.
@@Benlovescheese well I'm not a huge fan of Linkin Park anyway, but I'm sure they're doing what they can to pay tribute to Chester at these shows. Meanwhile, sounds like there's tension going way back with Bennington's family and Shinoda. According to them they expected 𝘩𝘪𝘮 to sing. Except, maybe he doesn't want to. At the end of the day it's not the families band, and if any of any of them had Chester's talent something tells me they'd be in it. Which is all to say, you ask me, the family's still so crushed by Bennington's death, with the bad blood between them and Shinoda, there's probably very little he could have done here to make them happy.
@@jjeKKellnot exactly the case, I watched a 2 hour interview the other day and what Chester’s son had to say on this issue was really interesting and I think well educated, especially the points he made about how the music industry is being run by abusers and they want to use LP as well as other artists to uplift a new generation of artists so the abuse can continue and be normalised in the industry and they can make loads of money, typical industry stuff I know, but he just brought a very important aspect of this that not many people are talking about to the table that Warner recently hired like P Diddys lawyer to be the rep of their music section- which raises a thought about whether they are doing the same with Scientologists and perhaps Emily- no clue but just a thought. I’m sure there’s more to the story than that. But yeah interesting if true. Chester’s son also said that he’d be happy if Emily stepped down from Scientology and apologising to the masteron victims in some way, so really the bare minimum to have good PR at this point in time. That would make him feel a bit better about the band as it’s really damaging to everyone to have her singing these songs but also have her a part of the anti mental health cult to say the very least. So I don’t think it is the case that he’s hard to please, just that the band are choosing to ignore the easiest ways out of situations and making it hard to please everyone.
@@Benlovescheese I think it’s too much to ask for considering they’re smearing this woman’s reputation with baseless claims. She’s a rape apologist? No she isn’t. See her statement. She’s an active Scientologist? Prove it.
@@Benlovescheese But what the music industry wants to do w/ America's youth and what Mike Shinoda and Linkin Park want, as a band, are two different things. And I'd say Armstrong did a pretty good job distancing herself from Danny Masterson in the statement she gave. Frankly, if Jamie Bennington thinks Linkin Park could be the next great vehicle for "corrupting" today's youth he hasn't spent enough time studying the effects of Taylor Swift and Megan thee Stallion, or for that matter DEI, and todays "gender theory." Hell, Kamala Harris is WAY more dangerous to the minds of today's youth than any band could ever be, let alone Linkin Park 😘
It’s not her band, she shouldn’t have a say TBH. Everyone loved Chester but the hard reality is he LEFT them, not the other way around. Mike did an entire tour just honoring his memory, been 7 years. Life moves on folks. I’m happy to see Mike happy again and enjoying life. Think that’s what Chester would want - play music, be happy, continue on
Chester left them? That remains a mystery.... think about it like this.... Emily is part of human trafficking... chester and Chris were about expose a "blackbook" involving certain people.... then they both died by "suicide" . 2 years later they were planning on using emily as lead singer... but didn't because they obviously waited for the dust to settle and boom... here we are 7 years later.... it's just my opinion/theory... dont attack me😅

Not singing them, not connecting to fans thru old songs means keeping his memory alive and respecting him?? Wtf
It is actually the biggest contribute to Chester and keeping his memory alive. Old songs are what unites the fans and melts their hearts. I wanna sing along in live shows, I wanna feel Chester's presence in the shows. Don't wanna hear just new stuff cause that will erase Linkinpark memories for me.

Chester made a choice. The band doesn't owe the family anything. This is their band. They are not in the band, and Chester's passing doesn't make them now a quasi part of the band.
@@travisspaulding2222 they dont have to run anything by the family but if they did promise to give her a heads up, it would have been the decent thing to do.
Chester joined up with STP after Scott Weiland. He would not have had a problem with the band moving on.
Good point.
Difference is that Chester knew about Scott's struggle with depression and drugs, not to mention that he sang those songs like he wrote them. And also, Chester in STP was NOT permanent, everyone knew it was temporary b/c he was still in Linkin Park.
@marcen12 bigger difference is that he did a good job and didn't sound terrible lol
I'm pretty sure everyone knows about Chester's struggles, including the new singer. And singing someone else's songs is singing someone else's songs. Chester clearly didn't have a problem with bands moving on with new singers. If anyone really thinks Chester wouldn't want the band to carry on, why do you think he wanted to do that to his bandmates? Because I don't buy it. No way he would see how happy Mike was at that first show back and tell him not to go on with the band. A band Mike and Joe started, and Chester later joined.
@@Blobby_hill396 It's not that Chester would NOT want the band to go on. He would. And the new singer is talented. The problem is that she comes from a place where therapy is scorned upon and it seems hypocritical. How would you feel if your soul into a projects, filled with your beliefs and then you suddenly die and someone who came from a background that was completely against your beliefs used your words? I know that everyone is polarized but there are bands who have members who joined later and they are the missing ingredient.
The band belongs to the guys who actually formed it and make the music more than it does to the mother of the now deceased lead singer. They deserve to continue to make music and move on with their lives. Kind of messed up that she’s trying to make them feel guilty.
I love Chester, and I can't imagine in a million years that he would expect his bandmates to never move on without him. He made a decision to end his life, but that doesn't mean he decided to end LP.
I know in my heart Chester would've never stood in their way of moving on, but this isn't what Chester would want; to have a scientologist SA apologist taking his place. He did so much more than sing, he was a victim and advocated for others, saved so many others. That MATTERS

Do not spread fuсkіn nonsense about who would want what because no one can truly know what someone would hypothetically want.
It's insane. Do people expect the rest of the band to just die? The band is more than just one member. Out of everything, i would want the remaining members to live for the music they created and create more to express themselves for the fans that still accept them. I love chester, but I wouldn't want everyone else to stop. That's just as upsetting as when he passed away. Many bands have had to replace a member and still carry on successfully. Let this band bring the world together again. Let the lyrics and music speak again. Give it a chance to live.
People are also unaware that the band coming back and bringing new life to all of their original catalog that pays royalties to Chester, which is then passed to the next of kin, the estate of Chester Bennington. Chester had six children, many of whom are still under the age of 18 and many times, the estate pays the children until the age of 25 or 30 yrs old. THIS IS STILL GIVING BACK TO HIS CHILDREN! A lot of one sided arguments in here so let me do my best to be the voice of reason here. Chester's family has every reason to feel upset because that's someone's son and someone's father. They're gonna look at it through a certain view that a band or fans might not look at it as. However, in the words of Chester he said it's Mike band not his. Mike is the one with the vision for the band and Chester was the final piece to the puzzle that made Linkin Park, Linkin Park. Obviously it is never gonna be the same. But it is the bands choice to try to continue LP since they still love making music and got more in the tank instead of it letting it end that way. I think they've done their best to be respectful about it and Chester's legacy. The band has made it clear they're moving on. You don't have to and you can feel the way you do and you have your reasons to feel that way. But just know no matter what, it does not change the fact that this is happening. That's just the reality of it.

I think it's more a sign of respect. Especially since Chester was such an iconic vocalist. Wouldn't it be normal for the band to inform her about it. It's sad she had to find out the same way as we did. Were they afraid they would leak it right away after hearing it idk?

Scientology, disrespect towards the family of Chester is not how the reunion should be celebrated and all the weird Mike stuff we’re hearing is terrible for us as fans of the band. Linkin Park has always been guilty of some kind of BS and this still comes as surprise.
Chester's Mom is the one who BETRAYED CHESTER He was abused as a child and those wounds contributed to his death. Some Mother . Let the band go on and let Chester rest in heaven for Pete's sake.
It's interesting how the people speaking up are his mom whom we all have heard of how she failed him and the oldest son whom he cut off the year he passed and whom has said very vile things about Chester.
What are you talking about? His mom worked as a nurse and his father worked cases ion SA. Chester didn't want to say anything about getting abused BECAUSE he would have been blamed for it. Heck, his mom refused to let him out of the house when she discovered drugs on him. His mother encouraged him to have a healthy alternative to drugs. What do you mean she betrayed Chester?
He lived with his father when it was happening
@@maylipkind But his father didn't know BECAUSE he didn't tell him. He didn't ask for help until he was 13 because he didn't want people to think he was gay. He eventually told his father but didn't press charges.
I'm sorry, but to anyone that doesn't actually have any say in the band needs to stop. Fans, family, etc. The only people who have any say in the direction of the band are the band members. Chester wrote (not all btw) those songs to be heard, to let others know that they are not alone. If you don't understand that, then you were never truly effected by his music. You just liked it. As for the family, it sucks to say this isn't their band either and it's not their music. They don't deserve royalties like i saw in the comments, they don't have a say in it, and it's not the band's fault about what happened. Everyone needs to move on and stop dwelling. RIP Chester Bennington.
A lot of people are just not okay with Emily and her beliefs. It's not about them finding a new band member which I was okay with. Is the fact that where she comes from and who she stood next to as a friend. And the fact that her apology letter doesn't mention anything about the church or Danny Masterson. I felt like it was more like just a way to keep the church happy so that she wouldn't be so much trouble. And quietly erasing Chester's Legacy doesn't make anything better either
@@matthewroberts8161 I guess we'll start from the top. Where has she ever sworn to the church, she attended a couple of functions that were sponsored by it. I mean are really gonna that concerned with the church of Scientology when the Catholic Church has actually performed unspeakable acts in recent history, not just beliefs. Also, she defended someone she thought was a friend until she realized he was guilty. Remember Danny tricked many people into thinking he was a good person. Don't say you've never defended a friend who was innocent until they were guilty. Everyone has. And as far as erasing Chester, pretty hard to do that when they literally mention him every time they are on a stage or in an interview.
@@ProjectGRIDLOKT she didn't go to just a couple of church meetings. She was born and raised in the Church of Scientology. Even her own mother went to the prison found by the member. And if she was truly sorry why didn't she mention his name or the human trafficking Church in which she came from? Also let's not forget that she didn't even mention the victim in which she cornered to keep her from justifying against him. So for her to say that she truly sorry is an understatement. Plus even Chester's mom did an interview with Rolling Stone magazine and stated how Shinoda was always thinking of replacing him with a female even going as far as saying it several times to him during the time that he was alive. And the fact that he was quietly erasing his legacy and not once are they bringing it up during the concerts has her very upset. And I understand her very well even though I don't have any kids of my own
@@matthewroberts8161 again everything is heresay. His mom said that he said that Mike said... You ever play the game telephone? That's exactly what this is. There are no records indicating that Mike ever said that. Just his mom. I'm not trying to say she's just making stuff up, but with where the attention is, it's not far fetched. Just because Emily's mom was, doesn't mean she is. There are countless upon countless musicians whose parents were of a certain devotion and to where they aren't. Why don't the musicians who stay Catholic say anything about how corrupt their church is? Look she doesn't have to name drop every single person until you're satisfied with her claims. She didn't say Danny's name because that POS doesn't deserve his name being spoken. If you are just trying to find reasons not to like her or Linkin Park, stop searching and go. If you don't want to support them then that's your loss. It's their band, I'm sure they knew everything they were getting into and predicted this much drama to ensue. Thats why she feels betrayed.
Techincally the band doesnt owe her anything but Im just highlighting the factor that got her triggered. Thats why she feels betrayed. And then adding a female singer, a claim allegedly Chester claimed is like adding salt to the wound.
Maybe this is a hot take here, but when did family members have a say in what a band does? My drummer and guitar players parents have no pull when we make decisions. I guarantee you that the band members made an effort throughout the years and did their part.
Nah, that's the ewe take. Chester doesn't deserve the disrespect just because they want money. They should have plenty for retirement already.
@@Under-Kaoz How is he disrespected? He took his own life and forced the bands hand if we're going to be straight up about it. They waited 7 years and dedicated so much to him in the years between. Well, her mother along with Chester's sister ( Tobi)also claimed that Chester's son ( jaime) sexually abused one of her children. And then Jaime believes that Chester could have also abused someone sexually. So take it with a grain of salt
I remember bavk in 2018, she and Chester's sister made similar claims about Mike putting Chester down, but Chester's niece actually came out and said it was BS and some of Chester's other children evwn call Mike "Uncle". Everything that's happening now has been a slow progression through the last few years. Mike wanted to start creating again and Emily fell into the role. Chester's mom saying that she's replacing Chester is insane but understood because it's such a shock. As a musician myself, the passion to write music is what drove this band to do what it's done so far.

(In a statement to Rolling Stone following publication of this article, Samantha Bennington, Chester’s ex-wife, disputes Eubanks’ version of the events, saying in an phone call, “I have not spoken with Mike Shinoda since I was married to Chester. I have not seen him since prior to my divorce in 2005. I believe my mother-in-law is mixing up bands between Linkin Park and Grey Daze. Grief and sadness messes with your memory.”)
lol
I didn’t realise Chester’s mum and son started linkin park with Mike too
Truthfully, linkin park WAS mike shinodas band in the late 90s. He started it up, Chester just so happened to audition and get the part. BUT Chester DID make Linkin Park what it is today. It hurts to say this, but without chester there wouldnt be a Linkin park. Mike shinoda does give off some bossy vibes, and probably did get on chesters neck a few times when he was alive. It's true they should had informed everyone in chesters life about moving on and about the new singer. I personally just want the new singer to sing the new stuff, and cover the old stuff in a way of a tribute to chester.
I'm living through this situation with mixed feelings: on one hand, there's the teenage me who "hates" the idea of them replacing Chester, knowing that no one will ever be able to replace him, and certainly not Emily with such a "meh" voice, nothing special. On the other hand, the adult me understands that Linkin Park wasn't just Chester, and if Mike and the others feel the need to make music, it's only right that they do, and I wish them all the best.
One thing is certain above all else: I miss Chester so much. He truly saved and helped me so many times. I miss him.
I know in my heart Chester would've never stood in their way of moving on, but this isn't what Chester would want; to have a scientologist SA apologist taking his place. He did so much more than sing, he was a victim and advocated for others, saved so many others. That MATTERS
Yeah but he wouldn't want his mother speaking on his behalf, she ruined his life as a kid, numb was written about her.
His mother allowed him to get SA, Emily was just a friend of a monster. Which one is worse out of those 2?

The problem is that Mike humiliated Chester behind the scenes and even threatened him to put a woman on vocals and Mike Shinoda actually did it!! Chester's mother wouldn't lie about that.
I’m disgusted with Mike Shinoda!
For a second just use your common sense, would anyone ever dare to replace the greatest vocalist of all time and think they would benefit from that?? Lol. That's just a mother venting out random shit. Mike and Chester were the closest friends and it's evident in their interviews and all. Stop believing a mother who let Chester be abused during his childhood.

Question, how would Chester's mother know what goes on behind the scenes with Linkin Park? I'm pretty sure if this actually happened, they wouldn't share this information with his mother. It sounds like that's her opinion, and not what actually happened.
What about what the fans want? What the band wants. Chester’s voice is forever. Life continues.
I’ve been seeing a lot of comments about Chester’s cause of death and I have something that I need to say. People who lose their life to suicide aren’t being selfish. The man went through hell and back. Think about this for a second. Let’s say someone has stage 4 cancer. Is it selfish for them to want their life to end because they are in physical pain. Well, physical & mental health are linked. Men have a much higher suicide rate than women. Feel free to disagree with me, but as someone who suffers from high anxiety and mild depression this is how I see it
❤❤THANK YOU for saying this! As someone who suffers from chronic suicidality and struggles to choose life every single day, these comments about Chester's choice were beginning to piss me off.
@@CelestiaQuixs you’re very welcome. A lot of people don’t seem to understand mental illness, and how physical & mental health are linked. Chester was in pain, and sadly lost the battle against depression.
@@arcadeguy781 I'm also kind of annoyed with the comments where others are trying to pin his death solely on his mother. In my personal experience, all of my suicide attempts were directly related to who I was living with at the time. While my sadistic, narcissistic mother may be the root cause of my Complex PTSD, she was not the last straw that brought on my attempt in 6/2023, my abusive caregiver was. Environment does play a big part; but, the decision to end one's life is way more nuanced than people understand. My caregiver is not solely responsible for my Major Depressive episode. That was actually brought on by being denied mental and physical health care by this broken healthcare system. I have two life-threatening illnesses I have been unable to continue receiving treatment for since I became a Senior Citizen because of QALYs, DALYs, and Medicare Quotas. Every situation is different. The only person who knows what Chester's last straw was and what the contributing factors were is Chester. The only thing people really need to understand is suicide is not an impulse decision. It is not a decision taken lightly. It is a solution to a seemingly unsolvable problem. I'm tired of people making ignorant blanket statements. I'm also tired of strangers pointing fingers in relationships of people they've never met and that don't involve them.
He probably didn't reach out for several reasons. One: knowing that she wouldn't want another singer singing her sons songs. Two: Because she would have ruined the surprise and gone to the press before they could have revealed it to the public. Three: The whole replacement with a girl singer story. Mike has just as much of a right if not more so, to do what he pleases with the band because he was one of the founding members and not Chester. He wrote most of the music including a lot of the hits. He is obviously not erasing Chester's legacy. That is set in stone and he keeps bringing Chester up in Interviews and performances. They are just upset that they aren't doing what they want him to do with the band. I'm so tired of the drama and will be happy when people stop talking about it and move on.
I don’t think the replacing with a girl story is real. I think the mom made that up. Seems oddly specific to have been said to him 7+ years ago while he was still alive and then not actually do it until this much later…feels 100% made up by the mom…who Chester wasn’t even close to.
