In my opinion, if you're cheating, you don't deserve privacy on things relating to that. You've lost the right to privacy when you break that trust.

If you feel trapped in your marriage, change your situation or break up... Don't cheat and give your partner the blame. Cheating isn't changing the feeling of being trapped. It only makes your situation worse.

First story: Op needs to leave. She's not willing to actually try and change. Therapy is doing nothing for her and is just being dragged through the mud. He can't "lose her" because he doesn't have her. A marriage is a 2 way street and a certain amouny of sacrifice and submission from both people is essential for a healthy relationship. He needs to let her go if she's not willing to live by reasonable rules, especially after cheating.

As someone who developed bipolar disorder after certain events in my life occurred: bipolar doesn't equal an excuse to cheat and I am blameless if I'm the person cheating. It shouldn't be an excused action. It's like he is saying all of these things are excuses for him to allow her to do this behavior because he was already painted as the bad guy. He doesn't want to be seen as the bad guy. He cares for her and doesn't want anything to happen to her but also doesn't want to be the reason for her continued mental health decline. This sounds like for OP it's an "I'm damned if I do, or don't" type of situation. To me, since they both need to prioritize themselves separately and come to an agreement they are ending things to work on themselves.

Bipolar disorder cannot get better by willpower alone. She must get medicated and therapists can't prescribe meds. Bipolars start to feel better from the meds and decide they didn't need the meds after all. This happens all the time because what's real is what's in her head. I've been married 35 years as a bipolar1 and it hasn't been easy for either of us. Cheating, gambling, sexual obsessions are all kinda typical in a bipolar1.

I have purchased a fleshlight for my husband. I have my own toys, so why shouldn't he? I, however, am absolutely not on board with either of us possessing replicas of our exes and I would hope that if we did have them and kept them, we would take that secret to the grave 😅

  • @cassiehannah
    @cassiehannah Рік тому +35

I asked my husband if he wanted a fleshlight when I was 8 months pregnant because I started to bleed when we had sex and it freaked him out. He also believed he was going to hit her head and hurt her, but of course, that wouldn't happen. I also knew that after giving birth, I wouldn't be able to have sex for at least 6 weeks, so we went months without sex. He said no and that it would be weird and inappropriate, but I was willing to get him one so he didn't feel neglected. I also don't see why women can have toys but it's taboo for men to.

They pump up what should be stiff, (or if time allows its done "predeparture") a cast is then taken and after the funeral the widows gets a box containing her new husband toy.
I suggested Widow Willies as the business name, my husband suggested Stiff Stiffs...

29:29 As someone who owns a large number of adult toys, I have no problem with a male partner owning a fl*shlight, or any other adult toy tbh.
I would also have no problem with a female or non binary partner having adult toys.
I actually really enjoy using toys with a partner, as well as on my own, so I think it'd be very hypocritical of me to say "hey I've got this big collection of toys I can use / we can use together, but your not allowed to own any yourself".
It does suck that there's so much stigma against men for owning adult toys, but hopefully one day that stigma will be gone and it will be socially acceptable for any adult to own adult toys free of judgement.
    ----
Personally I've never owned a "clone-a-w*lly", but I think if I ever split with the person who's part was "cloned" then I would get rid of it as soon as that relationship (situationship, fwb, etc) ended as I would feel way too uncomfortable holding on to something so intimate, especially once i got into a new relationship.

ETA: what Sam said - if you feel like you need to “set” rules, then the agreement of a relationship has already been broken. I don’t feel like setting rules on an adult and watching. I’m not a baby sitter
I didn’t know my husband was cheating until he forgot his phone at home and someone named “Sean” called. We didn’t know anyone by that name, so it must have been a landscaping client.
Nope when I answered it, it was my friend who was DEFINITELY NOT named Sean!
So yea, then I went a little crazy checking his phone until I couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t deserve feeling like I needed to look through his phone and he didn’t deserve handing his phone over randomly so I could ask or call numbers. So, we ended it.
I’ve never looked in another phone again. I don’t need that personal headache. Truth always comes to light

maybe i’m crazy but i wouldn’t want to be with someone who goes out to bars drinking alone in a regular basis. Going out with friends is one thing but that should even be on a more rare occasion once you’re at a point that your married and living together. I think the majority of your outings should be together, and if it’s a work night for one and the other is not working then they should be staying in with the spouse that’s supporting them… bipolar is a hell of a thing, and sadly a roller coaster i wouldn’t want to be on.. cut your losses now due to the cheating… that way when she really goes off the rocker you won’t feel guilty for wanting to leave bc of that. otherwise life & your relationship will become more of you being a care taker… i’ve watched my dad experience this with his gf! she’s good when she’s good but my lord it’s really bad when it’s bad, he doesn’t have a partner, he has someone he cares about that he has to CONSTANTLY worry about and walk on egg shells around. He’ll never leave her bc she literally couldn’t make it without him, and he’d never be able to live with hisself but it’s sad bc he deserves a partner. someone who keeps the house clean and grocery shops, and cooks dinner. He works, she doesn’t, he does all the errands, the house is rarely clean & she cooks when she’s doing ok… overall it’s not something i would wish on someone i care about

I've had long covid for about 2 years now. Besides the symptoms mentioned in the video, other symptoms make life difficult.
Instead of your taste and smell coming back to normal after covid, you can develop symptoms named parosmia, anosmia, dysgeusia and/or phantosmia. To put it politely, everything tastes and smells like rotting meat, sewage and chemicals. Some people lose their smell completely. Others develop phantom smells and taste (otherwise known as olfactory and gustatory hallucinations). I swear the only thing out of all foods and drinks that I can taste anymore are Dr. Pepper and hot sauce lol. Everything else is disgusting and I live off of meal replacements for the most part.
I'm also schizoaffective (I'm on the schizophrenia spectrum) and after I got covid, my symptoms that were once manageable became unmanageable and I developed very weird and scary hallucinations. It felt like I was being touched and sounded like people were breaking into my house every night for months, among other things. It was very scary and jolting.
It took months to get taken seriously by doctors, and by the time I got an emergency spot in the psych ward, instead of staying for 72 hours I wound up in the for 42 days. It was one hell of an experience, and I still deal with long covid issues, but once I was taken seriously, things started to get better.

I have bipolar type 2. If she had been diagnosed me genuinely wanted help, she would have started taking some medication and her therapist would have been a lot more focused on treating her than blaming OP. Seems like she’s using her bipolar as an excuse for everything, which is terrible. Bipolar is shitty but OP’s wife gives bipolar a bad name.
I’m lucky and married to a wonderful and patient man, similar to OP and I got the help I needed.
Also, porn isn’t cheating if both partners are on the same page. We don’t think porn is cheating.

18:48 Social work student here! The following is from the official diagnosis for Bi-Polar and I do not have the authority or credentials to diagnose a person. I do have the training to identify possible symptoms though!
For bipolar a big factor is NOT the severity of your depressions but your manic episodes. A true manic episode lasts about 2 week, anything less is actually a hypo-manic episode. While hypomanic and depressive episodes happen in both type one and type two, a Manic episode is MANDATORY for a diagnosis of bipolar type one. Though type one can also have severe depressive episodes, depressive episodes are not required for the diagnosis but make it much easier to determine.
Well, I cannot say it for certain, more than likely the reason they do not know if it is type one or type two is that they cannot determine if a Manic episode has taken place or not.
Source: the DSM5-TR (Diagnostic Statistic Manuel 5th edition text revision) and the multiple hours I spent looking at that chapter and studying it for my midterm this semester.

I definitely wouldn't care about my partner having a fleshlight as long as it was sanitary!! But yeah I wouldn't be okay with my partner's past partner's genitals kept, especially if used and not forgotten about. So if it was realized and tossed, nbd... But if they wanted to keep it. I'd have a hard time with that. So in that thought process I'd hold myself to the same standard tbh. I don't think partners should be overly jealous, but even with my personal openness in sexual matters, I'd have a hard time with this situation tbh.

I know someone who slept around and it led to a bipolar diagnosis.
It was her manic episodes that she was sleeping around. No impulse control.
Her husband stayed with her. She got the diagnosis, meds sorted, and they've been together a few decades since.
From the start of this story I thought bipolar.
They described bipolar symptoms and you incorrectly said classic toxic relationship.
When she's level, she knows she only wants him. When she's manic she's got little self control.
Oh and I agree he's a little controlling. Though I have not been in an unfaithful situation.
But it's very condescending to have a spouse make rules about what the other can do.
There might be things you want or need me to do or I agree to, but the word rule creates a power dynamic that feels icky.
They obviously both wanting to leave, and I'm not saying that's wrong. Just that it's not a definite relationship ender.

I don't think the diagnosis makes it not toxic. It is toxic, and her mental health is a massive contributor to that. Regadless of mental health status and her mental illness that she has no control over, that doesn't get rid of the continuous damage that is caused by it. It sucks yes, but her actions have consequences regardless of the influence of a mental disorder

What I have to say about snooping on someone's phone is that I am against it completely, but if I were to see a seriously damning message pop up on screen in notifications I would probably go ahead and pick up that phone and start scrolling through it. So, for me, yeah other people's phones are off limits until - well, I believe Police Officers call it, as Sam said, "Probable Cause" to enter someone's property without a warrant; if they hear gunshots inside, for example, while the Police happen to be there, they investigate immediately. I'm not a cop but I do watch cop shows and True Crime stuff.

As a wielder of many dildos, I think it's perfectly acceptable for guys to have many fleshlights. I think the only thing that makes it "weird" is I feel like fleshlights don't have as many interesting molds compared to dildos. So it's like the same level of weird as a guy having 5 of the same shirt, a little bizarre but harmless.

The only time I think porn or sex toys are an issue is if it’s an unhealthy obsession, or our sex life is suffering because of it. Otherwise I don’t think it’s too big of a deal. But every one and every relationship is different :)

It’s a shame to see Sam get roasted bc to me it’s nice to see someone just being genuine and out there even though not everyone’s humor is for everyone. Freedom of speech and openness. That’s how we truly grow and thrive and not dwindle our own personalities.
Also for those who like to roast; there’s a difference between open joking and total assholes

No, for God’s sake, watching porn is not cheating.
Now. If someone watches for hours a day and spends money on it, that’s a whole separate thing like any hobby becoming an obsession.
    But, no. Absolutely not.
However, if one does feel that it’s a deal breaker, that must be communicated and respected from the start.

It all boils down to respect. Have open and honest convos about watching, texting, and toys with your partner early in the relationship and set ground rules. I think watching is cheating IF it is hidden. If you treat it like a dirty little secret, or do something outside of the agreed upon "rules" then it isn't respecting the relationship.

long covid can be basically like having pnemonia chronically its not a gerat thing. i have anxiety depression and adhd too and i am in a healthy relationship. but i am treated. if she isnt being treated for any of those i can attest you are a barely functional human o na bunch of levels, that with the long covid can legit rewire your brain. the cheating isnt excuseable but all those issues are legit and why not try and "fix" or get those things addressed and readdress the relationship. drinking will make it worse for sure. the sleep is depression point blank. i will say i am divorced bc of cheating but that was the final sign of being miserable. sex was used as an escapeism. the relationship may not be healthy but it sounds like a variety of things she hasnt addressed yet and if trigger are being a shut down method they will never be overcome. addressing the triggers and working on them is how they become less triggery. this is her internally. not the significant other. she may also be bipolar which is a diagnosis i was also given and all this getting addressed can significantly make a life so different.
also has someone getting my counseling degree, a therapist should never "suggest" anything and i am guessing that it is the client either reading too much or percieving the therapist saying that. a legit therapist just asks questions and the client explores their thoughts and feelings and what feels right for them. the therapist has to be unbiased unless the client is endangered self or externally. then that falls into mandatory reporting.

ha i didnt hear the bipolar thing when i wrote before. yes more intensive therapy and medication will be needed. the sexual behavior is also part of bipolar where as she may be in sound mind and never do that.

I’ve had Covid 3 times, long Covid twice, and I still have long Covid. I’ve had a 100 degree fever since July. It sucks. It sucks, it sucks, it sucks. Doctors have no idea what to do for me, and it gets harder and harder to feel any kind of hope for my future. I get weak, feel faint, can’t stand, shiver uncontrollably, can’t think straight, am dead tired and in pain. I can count how many times I’ve left the house in 2023 on two hands, and I’ve only been able to leave the house by myself 4 times. The idea of drinking, partying, hooking up, or even going out without a shoulder to lean on feels impossible in this state. Now… maybe I have a worse case than she does, or maybe I’m just 34 and passed the need to party to feel alive. But I can relate to the depression. It’s really hard to feel this useless, and even harder to deal with the shame of not being able to contribute to the household. My partner has been an absolute saint, even when he is going through his own hardships. I cannot imagine cheating on him or doing wrong by him, especially not after all he has done for me. I’ve been a caregiver a few times in my life, and it is really hard, even when you truly love the person. I would never take that for granted. Still, I do not envy someone who has to go through long Covid only to have a genetic disposition for Bipolar disorder triggered. Losing control of my body has been hard enough; losing control of my mind and emotions would be devastating.

I had an ex partner whose therapist told him what he wanted to hear. I thought therapy would improve our relationship, and it actually helped bring it to an end. I thought most therapists were like mine, pushing the client to self reflect and communicate needs/concerns in a healthy way, apparently not.

Okay, I’ll answer the second story question. Guys can own whoever toys they want. I’ve dated guys who use them, and it’s usually not a big deal. Honestly it takes some of pressure off of being the only sexual release. Also, my partner doesn’t have any, and I’ve told him that if he ever wants to buy some, to just let me know.
