Hello Lucia. Thank you so much for your reaction. This was his first performance in China and he was the first one to sing in the competition so he must have been nervous. As you watch more (I hope), you'll hear the depth of his voice as well. You'll also find that he emotes with every song he sings. He never just sings the notes. Also, he says, that just because you can sing high notes, it doesn't mean you should. He uses it mostly for emphasis. Thank you for not disparaging his French accent. Some people who react to him do this but they tend to forget that he's only fluent in Kazakh and Russian and is currently learning Chinese and English. During the filming of I am Singer in China, they only had one week in which to learn lyrics (in his case, often phonetically) and he also had a huge hand in the arrangements of the songs. The voice you heard comes from one naturally gifted but is only possible through years of dedicated training under the supervision of outstanding teachers. His mother is an opera singer, his father a pop star/music producer and he started extensive formal musical training at age 5 on instruments and vocals. He has said that his vocal chords are longer than usual and when the "voice change" happened he didn't lose his high notes but just extended his lower range. As a teen he trained operatically at an arts school but with his range that meant performing as a tenor and a soprano. His tone is so exceptional he was actually part of the female section of the choir when they needed help. He then studied rock, pop and RnB vocal styles in college where he obtained a degree in The Art of Stage Performance/Variety Vocal. He plays several instruments well including piano, the dombra (Kazakh two string lute) and the drums. His goal is to tastefully combine these vocal techniques, along with those of his native Kazakh heritage, to create his own musical fusion.

@@cassiewinters331 You are welcome. I still don't think we have the full answer but I've heard a couple theories. There is something different physically and it is rare. Even those that have the ability will probably not develop it so it makes it hard to find enough guys to bring in for a study.

it will take a super extremely long comment to say why he is called 'the best voice in the world' in this present time with 200% well deserved. in short so i just say you have to listen to him more to see why yourself. he is a superstar now and is reaching to the status of a global mega star. what he needs is a much bigger stage to show case his singing. currently he is joining a TV show on CBS called 'the world's best' competition in the US. it is not a matter for him to win it all or not, but rather a bigger exposure for him to a wider audience especially the audience in the US. once break it, he will eventually and truly take off. btw he will appear on the 2nd episode (aired on 6th of Feb 2019 us time) of the tv show (the world's best (total of 10 eps)).

And believe it or not you saw just a little piece of what he can do. Ah you found Dimash!! A unique voice he has been studying since 4 years old he is in my opinion one of the best male vocalist. Such a range and technique. his lower registry is beautiful in tone. the fact that he can hit the high whistle note are amazing but for me a bit over used. If you are interested to listen when he sings in italian then you should listen to Confessa (+ Diva dance) from the Singer episodes. he is a superstar now and is reaching to the status of a global mega star. what he needs is a much bigger stage to show case his singing. currently he is joining a TV show on CBS called 'the world's best' competition in the US. it is not a matter for him to win it all or not, but rather a bigger exposure for him to a wider audience especially the audience in the US. once break it, he will eventually and truly take off. btw he will appear on the 2nd episode (aired on 6th of Feb 2019 us time) of the tv show (the world's best (total of 10 eps)).

Such a range and technique. his lower registry is beautiful in tone. the fact that he can hit the high whistle note are amazing but for me a bit over used. If you are interested to listen when he sings in italian then you should listen to Confessa (+ Diva dance) from the Singer episodes. He sings in a lot of different languages, even though he doesn't speak them. He sees no limit, only works to improve! :)
