The commercials are making me so nostalgic for my childhood. 😢. The Mr. Clean commercial❤. I really loved those days and now I am smiling at the commercials I took for granted…they were just a chance to run to the kitchen for a snack until my sister yelled, “the show is back on.” And I would run as fast as I could back to the TV room.
I watch these old shows for like fifty percent issues from when I was a kid and fifty percent the commercials. I don’t even remember Ragu jarred pasta.
That caller didn’t have the wherewithal to say ‘fuck this shit’. She says she gave him an ultimatum, he stepped out again and she’s still there. An open relationship is not for one person
I wonder if they followed up on the suicidal woman. So sad. That was such a dramatic moment in the show. An ultimatum only works when there are conditions. When he said No, she needed to leave. I wanted to tell her that loss is part of life. She will be heartbroken but it too shall pass with time. Pain is not infinite. Sleeping with your best friend. And then calling you selfish? That man does not deserve you. Find someone who does. Or just enjoy your peace. Anything is better than the hell she is living in.
Phil Donahue went to my high school Alma Mater, St Edward High School in Lakewood Ohio. He graduated class of 1954. when he went there the brothers of Holy Cross wore long black habits. I wish I could post photos of him from his yearbook, he was in drama society etc.
@@MarkEliasGrant thank you for sharing. I didnt know this about Phil Donahue. I also believe you were raised obviously shapes ones values and he was always ahead of his time and seemed very interested in education and information unlike what followed him.
Married 57 years to the love of my life! We have a very active sex life and I don’t need anyone else to make me happy! I married at 18 and he was 19! We learned making love together! So happy I decided to remain only with him! He had a stroke 5 yrs ago, and as he heals our sex life remains as good as ever! I made sure he was happy at home! I would send him cards to work…I flirted with him….most of all I made sure he remained my boyfriend!
This is great. Phil had a deft touch. I feel for the woman in agony. Her husband didn't want an open marriage. He betrayed her with her best friend. That's shitty.
Why does it seem like the voice pitches and speaking style of folks in the ‘80s were different? I know ‘40s/‘50s, etc. folks sounded different, especially on radio/TV, but even the ‘80s sound fairly different. It’s a good different, though! Kinda wish folks still sounded the way they did in the ‘80s.
I’m just going to say it for everyone here who either don’t see, or too afraid to say it. She “loves him” and “wants him” in large because other woman want him too. It’s nature. Don’t let it upset you.
From my internet research, Murray and Anne were married for over 50 years until his passing. God bless them.
1987.......good year ! I miss these times so much !

Thanks for the upload! I love the old talk show and the perspective from back then.
I'm pretty sure that Marlo would have killed Phil if he had asked for an open marriage.
I don't share with anyone, PERIOD!!!! don't get bloody married if that's what you want to do😡
Amen!..👍

Oh, I do!! For awhile, it seemed like Ragu was all there was. It was everywhere.

12:57 Boy is she trying to convince herself, not just the audience.

So what's the point.

Please. The dude in the maroon shirt just wanted to cheat on his wife.
Whatever it is, she doesn't seem happy, much less having to discuss it on TV.
Yeah , really !
Which makes him different from ALL OTHER MEN how again?...😆

Ty :)
Open marriages should be with out commercials!
Where are they now? 😅
