  • We gather here today to join Engine and Transmission.
    I learned that you could bolt Nissan 6 speeds to ls motors and after hearing a friend talk about it for weeks. I bought one way before this project snow balled into essentially a full rebuild. They are supposedly good for about a 1000hp, they are cheaper than T-56's, and if you have ever driven a 350Z they shift REALLY good!
    Queue the G Force LS Z33 Adapter kit. I decided on this one because it seemed to be the most well thought out and designed kit. Other kits require cutting off the bellhousing from the trans and bolting a new one on with the oil pump bolts, and also usually require using a specialty clutch with a blend of components from Chevy and Nissan to work. The G Force kit includes a monster flywheel to fill the space between the engine and trans so using a factory style Nissan clutch is a huge advantage. I chose a stage 3 single disc from Advanced Clutch Technology to handle my 600ish horsepower goal.
    I was able to mount the drivetrain on the frame and then I had to pack the car up for storage, I temporarily ratchet strapped the body to the frame and put the car in storage while we were between houses. Next step will be to get the WTF:Performance Garage unpacked and set up so we can get this thing running!

    Looks cool man. Im doing the cd009 in my '75 behind my rebuilt 350 chevy. Lots of little things to figure out. I have a 408 rear end and putting that with the cd009 gives you an awesome end gear ratio (11:1 for 1st gear) compared with what it used to be woth my 3 speed automatic. Good luck.

      Sounds awesome, I remember crunching the numbers and figuring out what the ratios might be like. Can't wait to actually drive it lol

    Well done. Quite an achievement putting a body back on by yourself! I agree with your gearbox choice to by the way, but I have JDM roots also! Been toying with the 370Z box and ecu for my 81 C3, as has rev match etc as well. Also an 80's fanboy, so loving the Synthy Bass soundtracks! Great work - great channel, keep it up! G

      Thanks man! I think the channel would be so boring without the synthwave 80s theme lol

    Man this is a mixed mutt vette 🤔

    Looks like a bunch of tunnel carving required for the transmission. That’s the only thing that’d make me hesitate

    • @WTFPerformanceShow
      @WTFPerformanceShow  Рік тому

      Yea it definitely needs the whole tunnel to be modified but luckily this body is so rough that I don't feel bad chopping it up in the slightest.

      @@WTFPerformanceShow on the one hand I get the tunnel was designed for a gearbox with few gears and not much torque handling. A gearbox with more gears that’ll take more torque is going to be bigger. It’s still hard to take the plunge and say I’ll open it up. I wonder if the aftermarket tunnels for T56 would clear the cd009.

      I'm gonna be able to start working on the vette again soon. I can't wait to get the body officially back on the frame and see where everything lands.

    I’m converting my 80s automatic to a T10 4 speed. Your shifter looks pretty far back, I’ll be curious to see how it all finishes out and if you’re comfortable with the shifter location.

    • @WTFPerformanceShow
      @WTFPerformanceShow  Рік тому +1

      Already installed a relocation kit to move the shifter 6 inches forward. Otherwise, I was gonna have to get creative LOL. You'll see it in the next update video 😁

      @@WTFPerformanceShow I would like to share videos of my car restoration but I’m not sure what kind of camera to get or what kind of computer can handle editing, any advice? Yours look and sound great.

      I use a GoPro Hero 9 for all my filming and I use an external microphone to make the audio a little better. Honestly I record in 1080p because my computer can't handle 4k LOL. I use Wondershare Filmora for editing and Storyblocks for music. I'll warn you it slows down the work a LOT when you are filming it 😄. It's kind of fun to document the process and look back to see how far you've come.

    Why would you put a Nissan transmission in it?

    • @WTFPerformanceShow
      @WTFPerformanceShow  2 роки тому +2

      Cheaper transmission than a T56, closer gear ratios, better shifter, something different.
