I'm with you 100% bro. Guinness is legendary, and you know what you're getting every single time you have one. It was the first stout I ever had way back when, and its one I will always come back to. This was a fun side by side. I'm definitely doing more battle beers in '24! Cheers!
Classic example of the success of advertising. In any blind test Guinness is dishwater compared to many other porter/stouts out there. Its the same reason people drink pi55water Budweiser over a decent tasting beer. Guinness do make a decent Porter, its called West Indies Porter and is delicious, not to be confused with the populist flavoured water you have there.
I haven't had the West Indies Porter. But I actually do like a pint of Guinness. Its one of the most drinkable & sessionable Stouts around. I might also have a soft spot because of nostalgia haha. But the best Nitro darker beer I've had in years, is Anspach & Hopday London Black! That is crazy!
I always say when it comes to it, dry Irish stout is just a lovely style of beer, it's simple, it's good, it's consistent. Satan could brew it but Irish dry stout is always good. Men were made to drink dry Irish stout. God bless to the girls.
Its unfortunately also a style your rarely see. When craft beer was starting to become a thing in DK, many people attempted to make it, but most sucked. I also think Nitro is essential to the style! Haha cheers man!
First time I disagree with you entirely . Guinness is head and shoulders above that Brewdog attempt . London Black is harsh and rough side by side with the OG too. IMO
Well damn! I need to do a review of London Black. It just got Danish distribution, so hopefully a local bar picks it up. I have give a few bars some hints haha. But Guinness probably is the ultimate sessionable Stout.

Its such a great session beer! You should, doing battles and drinking beers side by side is really fun. You should try and do more blinds too!

One of your early Stouts was Lion, wasn't it?
At least one of the early reviews. I had other stouts before that one. Haven't seen it around in years though.

London black > any nitro session stout
I'm craving one haha. It just got Danish distribution, so I'm hoping a local bar will get some!
