Beautiful video - he truly is inspirational and great to see how well he was running on that track 32 years later!! Does anybody know if it is even possible to run the 5000, 10,000, and marathon in a single Olympics anymore? Hmmmm. Must find out.
Yes, you can run all three events- provided that you qualify for all three... back in the day, these athletes could just hop without any prior experience (see Viren, Lasse and Zatopek, Emil).
Tuve un compañero de trabajo que por tema de locomocion solia llegar casi justo con la hora . Se bajaba de la micro y los 150 mts. Restantes para llegar al trabajo los corria , su apodo era zatopec
What was that song starting at 5:02 when Emil was running the marathon? It sounded familiar. Never say never in athletics, but i am confident in saying that the Olympic 5k, 10k and marathon triple crown will NEVER be repeated.
Sports Illustrated told story of a retired Emile Z visiting middle distance great Ron Snell of New Zealand, in New Zealand. Had something special for him. Be sure to check it out. Adds further luster to the lore of this great great man.
+John Leddy It was Australian long distance runner RON CLARKE (who had been unsuccessful in obtaining gold at either the 1964 or 1968 Summer Olympics) who visited Zatopek in Czechoslovakia. Zatopek gave Clarke one of his gold medals from the Helsinki games.

Every person regardless of country of origin can appreciate a legend,
The greatest sportsman of them all! (In my opinion). 5000m, 10000m and the Marathon. No-one will ever match him. Ever. Unbelieveable.
Thank you for this nice posting!
Emil Zatopek was a wonderful person - one of those whom we - Czech people - can be really proud of.
He is the best ever in the 70s i also ran the same events as him and also ran for my country malayasia i know how hard i had to train

Es casi imposible lograr lo que él. Ganar todas las pruebas de fondo en un mismo juego olímpico
i remember him talking about 2:15
I looked infront of me and i see gold silver and bronze , and me ? potato
Legend never dies
