I love the 2x size and eye relief and clearity just wish they made a 4x in the same size and Design
PA improved on a design that wasn't remotely close to being broken or in threat by a competitor.... It appears they manufactured it to reduce weight and rail space. Got to love a company just because!!
Are you going to get another telegram channel going? I miss the deals and the news feed
Have you looked through one with a analog NV tube? Looking to see how it might perform with a PVS-14 (Yes, Reddot mounted on top would be more optimal, just wondering)
It does have a 300 yard mark, it is the bottom of the chevron if I remember correctly. Personally, I own one of the 3x raptor prisms and love it.
Yes! 👍For those of us with an astigmatism, prisms are a god send!
Is it a huge difference? I’ve never had too much trouble with the dots.
Astigmatism?
What is that, part of the LBTQ group?
@@RicArmstrong Was that just meant to be a (bad) joke? You know it's an eye thing, right?
@@Batmann_
Yes, it was meant to be a bad joke.
I dabble in firearm related comedy. 😁👍
@@RicArmstrong This one was a flyer, the next couple will be on 🎯
Just got home and opened mine up and put it on my 300 blackout. It’ll be my first PA optic
Trust me…it won’t be your last 😊😊😊
I own 3 of them. I also own several lpvos and an acog, and a dozen red dots. The prisms are among the best values in optics on the market imho.
What's your favorite optic?
Thanks Mike,ordering now.
@@dominicportillo1 probaby, the acog, but the pa prism for 1/3rd the price is amazing. I have 3 of their scopes as well, 2x glx and their new plx nova 1-8, but no time behind that last one…. I have a 1x prism on a b&t apc9k pro as well, and while its not my favorite, it does well for my astigmatism as stated in other comments.
Sounds like me, trying to put an optic on on my rifles, and the Prisms are priced right, and so far rock solid.
Um, just for the record, if you need help with a slightly different type of astigmatism, I’ll very happily volunteer as tribute. For science. Or competition. Whichever you prefer. Haha, sounds like you have a fun collection of toys.
I have a 4x prism, I have Keratoconus and have to wear spherical contacts to be able to see and with the prism scope I can use the diopitor to get the reticle crisp. I love it and they eye relief is the same as using carry handle iron sights on an AR 15 nose on the charging handle. I use it for coyote hunting because it's light and I don't make shots past 300 yards. The chevron is excellent for precision in my opinion. Thanks Mike for another no BS breakdown analysis of another firearm accessory product.
Have this optic and absolutely love it.. I’m a weird duck being right handed left eye dominate with astigmatism.. Personally I threw this lil guy on my rifle and was off to the races training room clearing, something I have always struggled with.. I was instantly better and the 3x isn’t to powerful so I can rock this lil guy with both eyes open allowing me to transition to my dominant hand..
Worth every penny!!! If you have an astigmatism or your eye dominance doesn’t match try this lil guy..
Same! I’ve got to try one.
I feel you, I’m left handed and right eye dominant, I shoot right handed because of this. 😢
@@cruisey9857 It’s a strength when you have got comfortable shooting wrong handed for years and start training on close quarters or scenarios where shooting dominant hand exposes more of your body. I was able to shoot both eyes open and switch hands pretty much immediately with this little prism.
I’m in the same situation…. I run long guns lefty and handguns right handed
I had the gen cyclops but hated it
I’ve got the holosun with acss on 2 different AKs
I have the raptor acss ffp on a cmmg mk47
I think I’ll try the 3x on a current Ak sbr project
Agreed
Love this optic. It bridges the limitations between red dot and lpvo. No problem in cqb or close range. Auto live feature is a huge bonus.
I have the 5x micro on a super light 5.56 build and absolutely love it. I also have a horrible astigmatism and red dots are terrible through my eyes. Had an mro and sold it cause it was also very bad. The 5x was it's replacement.
This has become my "go to" optic for AR rifles. It's lightweight, quick, and durable. With both eyes open on the 3x I can cover everything from CQB out to as far as I would shoot in a defensive situation. Optical quality is better than it should be. I have four of these now, two in 5.56/308 and two on 300BO. All are on Bobro QD bases in the event I need to quickly go to BUIS.
I have one for my AK. Once you try it, you'll really love it. I get a great sight picture, very bright, and mine has an illuminated reticle, which really makes it fast to use. The 3X is just right for adding some magnification without disturbing your picture.
What zeroing distance did you use? I zeroed at 50 yards because that was what I had available. Am I missing something in the manual saying to zero at 100?
@@Arkeo36 I've got a Zastava AK, 16.3" barrel. The ammo I like is about 2400fps, so I zeroed at 50 yards per page 3 of the manual for 7.62x39.
@@meddlesome9252 thanks!
@@Arkeo36 The BDC is predicated on a 100yd zero. You can zero at whatever distance you like but the BDC will not track correctly at other distances.
Primary Arms Prism Sights are my go to sights, just for the reliability and ruggedness.
Have their 1x Gen 2 on every AR I own. Freaking amazing optic, including the magnified options, for their durability and glass clarity!!
thanks for the report
Ive been running that sight for around 3 years now, love it!
The Vortex Spitfire 5x is an absolute gem that nobody talks about. You don’t get the German glass, or the reputation that comes with ACOG. But you get an extra 1.2” of eye relief, more magnification, and a respectable 23’ FOV at 100m. The low mount is extremely rugged, and it’s got that Vortex warrantee. If you add an RDS it’s a great combo for hog hunting in the river bottoms and scrub plains of central Texas.
But no chevron though😢
But you get the doughnut of death! 😢 (Which is honestly kind of useless on a 5x.)
And you get wind holds. Trijicon should make an ACOG like the spitfire
I'd consider the Vortex, as I have not come across it and I don't train that much and really prefer a fixed power. Depth of focus still is going to be more shallow (head position become more critical, thus a good cheek weld pad is a recommendation) that the lesser powers, so with that I'm satisfied with 4x...
The eye box on a Vortex 5x is better than an ACOG 3x or 5x. I don’t have a Primary Arms prism, do I’m not sure about that. That said, if you like your optic you can keep your optic! Besides, RDS + prism is still lighter than almost any LPVO.
Oh!!! Didn’t know ow they had a carry handle mount! Okay I’m going to have to get a second one… thank you for mentioning that!
I used that on my 10.5" 5.56, loved it but switched to the 1x cyclops with the 3x slx micro magnifier. Better eye relief.
I'm looking at that exact set up. I've heard sometimes you can't get them to focus did you have that problem
Does that really work? I have a g2 cyclops 1x and I thought it was mounted too far back for a magnifier, as it does have eye relief, although very generous, it is not a true red dot. I‘d have to check it to be sure.
@granthise3262 no issues. Took a while to really get it to clear up and focus. But it is doable. They have a video on pa channel of a cyclops and magnifier.
@Bisley1 yeah. Pa has a video on their channel. I will admit it is kinda funky and it is all mounted further back than I'd like, but it does work. Kinda had to get used to it. As you said it's not a red dot, so there's still parallax and eye relief to contend with.
Excited to watch! I've been eyeing this one up for awhile now. I had a 5x in the past, but it seemed like a bit much for the distances I was focusing on
Thanks Mike! I have the 1x 3 x and 5x. Super optic
I would love to see PA make a Elcan spectr clone 🤞🤞
Ditto
YES!
They commented on it, apparently, the cost would get pretty freaking high and it isn't their price range in the market nor a prism optic price range.
@@lucastonoli3256 if they can make a LPVO under 400 then they can make a Elcan. More likely a patient issue 🤷🏼♂️🤞🤞
@@wobblybrute It's actually more expensive to make a reliable variable magnification prism than an LPVO
I have a Primary Arms SLx 1x Cyclops Gen 2.
Well built and rugged. The problem for me is the reticle. I am only equipped with 1x eyes and the reticle is microscopic. As so, I have relegated it to use on a pistol upper with a 22 conversion kit.
Mr. G. I'm pretty sure the base of the Chevron is the width of shoulders at 300. 12:12
that’s correct
Owned 1 as soon as it was open for orders. No battery changed since opening package!!! Checked battery recently and all go. Great optic!!!
thanks for the report
😂! Im literally mounting the new PAO offset mount when I get the notification for this video 😅😎👍!
300 is the bottom of the chevron, edge to edge. Just to add on for the auto-ranging part at around 12:20.
WOW. I literally just changed out the straight mount on this same optic. Cooooool 😎
I leave the illumination on my 2X prisms set to a low level. If I use the gun in the daytime or if I'm using a weapon light it's too dim to even notice, but if it's dark the reticle is clearly visible.
I live about three miles from them. While waiting for my order I tried some of their display sights. Those prism sights have the clearest dots for my astigmatism.
thanks for the report
You're killing it with the watches
I installed one of these on an AK....now I own 3 of these optics. These are amazing and go on sale around black Friday and Christmas, around $200. Also...etched, so if the battery fails, it is still good to go like a normal scope.
Absolutely! I've grabbed over a dozen when on sale along with a handful of the 1x at about $175. These things are universal and end-of-world durable.
I have the 9mm version on my B&T apc9k. And I love it.
Have this on a AK Mastermount for a VZ58 this is a crazy good x39 optic
Have a 5X power coming on Thursday. Works better with my eyes. Will be mounting on tavor x95. You can’t go wrong with the Primary Arms acss prizm scopes.
Hay Mike, Tanks 4 all the cool ingredients. How's your doggie doing? I know the other Doggie has gone over the Rainbow Bridge. Sorry, I know you miss him something terribly. I know how you feel. You take care brother and watch ⌚️ your and your family's 6..........
I'm using that same one on an AK and it works great. Clear glass. I mounted it on a Fab Defense ak dust cover and it has held zero since day one. Highly recommended
Just FYI those mounts they come with that are cantilever are not drop safe, mine bent after a tiny drop. Get an aftermarket one
TYVM
Mike great review as always. I have one on my 10.5” 5.56 and one on my 8.5” 300BO. Love them. Keep ‘em coming!
Hell Yeah!! I been waiting for this one!!
If you was eyeballing to buy it but waiting on a review buy it. Especially if you have an astigmatism.. Worth every penny..
Love me some primary arms optics!!
Just got it in 1x and am about to order this 3x.
Everything I've had PA has been great.
The ADM QD mount for these is a nice upgrade
Hell yes!! As the one it comes with is very likely to bend and shift POI as several others have found. Optic itself 1x, 3x, 5x are amazing!!
Must get upgrade
@@derek3154 idk I haven't had any issues and guys are dropping them mounted at head height only the piggyback dot mount had issues. I kept the stock mount cuz I didn't want the qd lever in the way of charging handle. I have my 5x mounted all the way back and it still isn't back far enough.
Training tip....cover the lens of the optic with the reticle illuminated and keep both eyes open. It helped me get used to the "Bindon aiming concept".
Man, love this. I have about half dozen of their older 3x and 5x optics. Definitely interested in bringing this tiny 3x in as a replacement.
Thanks! From an angry dog hanging on the dock. IYKYK
Thank you kind sir 🇺🇸
GREAT VIDEO as always! God bless you!
I have one of the 3x SLX models...and I love everything about it...except the eye-box. It's definitely on the smaller side. It's not as forgiving as some older ACOGs I used to use. It's not super noticeable when just range plinking, but the second we start doing drills, barricades, etc. it becomes pretty noticeable.
It's not bad enough to "ruin" the optic, but I'd absolutely trade some other features/money for a more forgiving eye-box.
I would also love a 2x option in the SLX line...as I weirdly always liked the smaller 1.5-2.0x ACOGs as a more general purpose optic. I find the 3x is just a bit too much when up close, but find that 1.5-2.0x is more palatable.
They have a Cyclops model you might enjoy
Put one of these on my first AR. ( im an AK guy). So far very pleased, great value and performance
Totally agree with prism optics from 2 through 4, as at 5x the eye relief seem to be getting a bit to close and limited. At 2x you get a better sight picture that open sights, at 4x you are at the MOA limits of most ammunition and if you need that 1/8th adjustment, well screwing it down will do that adjustment. Good review as most guns that are going to mount this have a 2MOA anyway and effectively shooting at the 4x power limits are about (450-600m) where effective shooting is fading away. Pricing and performance, they are unbeatable and when considering training, they are super unbeatable. Adjustable 'scopes really require a high degree of training and maintenance (such as re-'purging the nitrogen periodically in a pressure/ vacuum chamber, something that the military has in the rear with their armorers) and become super sensitive to mishandling.
Picked one up a month ago and added an ADM QD cantilever mount to swap between this and my red dot. Love the glass clarity and the lightweight setup. Great optic!
thanks for the report
These come in red or green reticles, and the optic body in black or FDE. I’ve got 4 now of their 1x & 3x, excellent optics and plan to get more in the future. Only cons are the knobs aren’t super grippy and the diopter adjustment takes some time to dial just right. Great SHTF optic if batts run out.
What I want to know is where is there GLX 1x they said was coming Q2??
i have the 9mm one with my M&P FPC....it's pretty accurate.
Great scope! Clear glass, and "really" bright Illuminated reticle. I have to turn mine down 4 clicks even in the daytime. Reticle is somewhat small but very clear and crisp! And I do need to get up close, but no scope bite. Thanks Mike...
Love them. Have one on my AK and one on a FAL build with an 18” barrel. It’s a great fit.
They also have a reticle for 9mm.
ACSS Gemini
I love PA optics and this one is no exception. My two favs are the Compact 1-8 with ACSS (the Compact 1-8 Nova is a weird direction that PA went with), and the 1x Micro Prism. The 1x Micro is so underrated. I also have the 3x micro prism.
With that said I prefer the Steiner 4x T432. Yes their is a weight penalty. Eye relief is slightly better as is the eye box. You get 1x more magnification obviously. The prisms reticle's center is a dot which obviously doesnt need illumination but it does get daylight bright if needed.
The real difference comes in the glass quality. The PA has good glass, but when you compare it to the Steiner......not so much.
I got mine for $400 which more expensive than the PA, and if you wait for the 12% off - you can get the PA for $285 ish. So there is that.
Nothing wrong with the PA, but after looking through the Steiner...........
when i retired from the Marines in 2014.. i got so used to saying RCO.. that ACOG and other names ..aka prsim etc always seemd to sound different.. it took me a while to relate the same same in terms and names.
My friends who own these say the eyebox is too small. I have their GLx 2x prism and love it.
It is a small eyebox but you get used to it pretty quick.
Is he using the straight riser?
Thanks for reminding me I have to send mine in for repair
As an enjoyer and lover of the older generation larger 3X (not micro prism) from Primary Arms, I LOVE IT!!!
Duno that I would love the micro, and that’s the only reason I say anything.
I got the 1x version and believe it or not it was almost perfectly zeroed out of the box!
I think I own 3 of them. Small, light weight, 3x zoom, and my favorite trait the eched reticle.
I have a 1x Cyclops on my 300blk and like that the horseshoe and ranging marks gives you sort of a hold over estimate for subsonics out to 250m
Not accurate enough to ethically hunt with or anything, but fun for ringing steel
I like mine, but need a 1x. Testing using it as a magnifier behind a dot. The only reason i would not use it exclusively is because battery illumination would need to be on constantly to use it as benden aiming. I would prefer an acog over it, however, for the money it's incredible.
I can’t wait until a 1-4x is roughly this size. We’ll get there eventually!
Indeed, I used your discount code over a year ago to get free anti-reflection devices with my Cyclops 1x microprisms purchases. Thx! 👍
Thanks for that!
Used by buddies a few times on his AK and loved it but I’m waiting on the GLX 1x version to come out.
I would love a super simple reticle option. Just the chevron ideally
Bought this and the 1x last year. Great optic. I wanted the green illumination which this offers. Eye relief is short so it kind of looks funny on the gun but that is just an aesthetic thing.
Really happy with mine. Have one on my AK and CZ Scorpion. Will be getting one for the AR soon.
thanks for the report
Got one on my ugri absolutely love it
Urgi deserves better
@@grantsdad177 it does but I’m still a poor
I wish they would come out one that has no Illuminated system. I only use the etching and never turn them on.

@@Mrgunsngear now go make it happen! 😁
This guy’s Rollie collection is on point. Rocking that TT Sky D. Oh, yeah, the prism is nice too.
😂
I got a 3x mounted to a detachable carry handle! I get to use both!!! Awesome optic! I want the 5x now lol
I've been using one of these 3x on my carry handle carbine as a placeholder until I can decide which ACOG reticle I prefer. The thing is, I like it so much I'm probably just going to keep using it. I'm not wild about the chevron for shooting tight groups off a bench, but for dynamic real world shooting the reticle as a whole is excellent.
thanks for the report
love my micro 5x with a hero mod piggyback mount. My 14,5 is very lightweight
How is it that I was reading up about prism optics all afternoon and just before I make a purchase, I see this. Are you following me?
I am a guy with bad eye sight mine is in green see vary clear outside during the day but
Only con in dark or low light I wish the lower lines would illuminate a little, but-other then that vary happy
Only drawback when it comes to battery life, though it’s really not an issue when you get like 50k hours of battery life, but it’s still something to keep in mind.
With a red dot that has the shake awake feature, that’s on a conceal carry firearm, because of repetitive movement, it’s likely on all the while you’re carrying it. So keep that in mind if you have one with that feature in your carry gun when it comes to battery life. It may shut off but the moment you move, it’ll likely turn on. Even if you’re sitting and just change positions. Just something to keep in mind.
I want a low power prisim optic with enough eye relief to mount just forward of a folding Magpul rear sight. I don't care as much about the weight. Make it as long and heavy as an issue ACOG if you have to, just give me another 1.25 inches of eye relief.
Duly noted
Been looking for just that thing. The 1x reviews are saying it can be anywhere on the rail. Would love to see their revamped glx lineup do this.
I use a 1x slx all the way forward on the receiver so I can add a magnifier behind..... just starting to reduce the eyebox that far out. No issues.
I actually don't like the magnifier though.....thinking about a 3x full time... .
But I've loved that 1x too!!
Mine just came in the mail, can't wait to use it!
I got one for an A1-ish clone build cause I wanted a bit of magnification and it mounts easily on a carry handle.
It's a really nice unit but due to the unforgiving eye relief I've had to move it way back, and to do that I've had to use the little spacer pieces that push it back, but they also add height obviously. So while it's somewhat ok as far as distance to my eye (tho not great) it's super high up off the carry handle lol. It's not a cheek weld but a tippy top of the chin weld.
God I just wish someone made a fricking mount that affixed to the carry handle and moved the f'ing thing backward, like a cantilever sorta thing, without being inches and inches high. Wish I was a machinist I'd make the gd thing myself it's so dumb simple.
When mounted flush to the carry handle, can you still use the irons? What about when mounted high like you described?
@@DWalter.27I had to mess with mine to mount it to the carry handle and it blocked the iron sight. Now the instructions didn’t show a carry handle ( like shown in the video) so maybe when I bought mine a year ago they didn’t include one. I’m going to try searching their website to see if they sell just that mount because mines pretty janky the way it’s rigged
@@DWalter.27 It doesn't really mount flush per-se; but yeah the piece that I'm using to mount right to the carry handle does have a cutout that allows you to see the iron sights through it (GLx 2XP Carry Handle Adapter, you can buy it separately).
There's actually several different metal "mount" pieces that mount to the carry handle itself, and then on those are where you screw the SLx unit to. Some might not allow you to see the iron sights but the fairly low mount that I'm using does allow you to use iron sights. It comes with a bunch of little mount pieces so with those and that GLx 2XP adapter there's a ton of options.
I think the Griffin Mil system is probably the best option. Giving you 10 mils of drop AND all those wind holds. The EXTRA bonus to that is probably something no one thinks about. if you have it on an AK and the pic mount you put on gets bent and your zero goes off a little... those dots will help you make accurate follow up shots despite your zero being off. That would apply to any firearm, if for some reason your zero gets thrown off a bit for whatever reason. With a bullet drop and just 5 and 10 MPH wind holds... you've got less reference points is all i'm saying. I'd rather have 10 mils of drop i think but yeah... probably not taking the AK past 600 yards. I had a 5x LPVO on it at one point and did some shooting at 530... so i'd imagine 3x and taking it to 600 yards would be difficult especially in poor lighting like dawn/dusk situations.
I love mine 3× in green with the bolt on 45 off-set red dot mount.
Have the Green 5.56/308, I haha’s and giggles took the rifle it’s mouth to with me on a 3 day snow machine trip. Do not treat my rifles like most. They get knocked around, bounced around was still perfectly zeroed after the 3 days of play. Saw high temps of 12 normally 0 or below. No issues going from warmth or very cold.
Allow me to share my recent shopping process for anybody else who might be in the market for AR/PCC optics:
The GLx 2x smokes all of the compact ACOGs. There is no reason for compact ACOGs to be on your list.
I love my GLx 2x and use it with the Unity mount.
The SLx 1x is a red dot for people with astigmatism or a red dot alternative if you want a battery proof etched reticle.
In my opinion this optic should be on your PCC instead of an Aimpoint T2 or MRO in 2024.
Happy to sell my T2 and MRO on Scalarworks mounts for 40% off.
The SLx 3x is really good and IMO is almost an ACOG killer but I still went with the TA11 for 2 reasons:
A 3x scope on an AR needs more eyebox for fast targeting, and the TA11 exit pupil is 9.9 mm to the SLx 7.4 mm
The TA11 has great glass with a conical light path that reduces the tube effect and effective blind spot
The SLx 5x eyebox is too small to be used on an AR rifle doing AR things. The 5.5 ACOG bests this optic handily if you need the enhanced range.
This post was in regards to my exploration of the 4 modern PA prisms which for me were often pitted against ACOGs for my 11.5" and 14.5" builds. I did not consider LPVOs because I do not want a 4 mm eyebox at the magnification for which the SFP BDC reticle is accurate. I did not consider the TA31 which I might look at in the future if I create more of an overwatch type rifle (18" barrel, bipod, ?6 ARC) so I can scan an area using the wide FOV that the TA31 offers. You do not need a forgiving eye relief to sit behind the scope and scan.
I hope my take is useful to somebody, though take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm just some rando and I don't even use BUIS.
I’ve had this little optic for a while now and love it.
nice
I have one of these, and I don't care for the short eye-relief. It's a wonderful optic, except for that issue.
This is my personal buggaboo with optics...that an an awful astigmatism. its VERY difficult to find any optic that really works for me. I seem to be stuck with holo-dot sights or irons and getting older means my range is getting closer and closer
I also got the Unity 1.93 mount for several of mine.
First optics i ever bought were a gen 1 cyclops and raptor 1-6 from watching your videos
I have the old one.. but was kinda hoping they would update this one with (halosun)type options! Solar, . Moving circle... ect ect... I have learned that prisms are superior to adjustable optics in all practical situations for an ar15
The 300 yard ranging indicator is the outside bottom edges of the chevron.
Great sight for lots of guns, needs to be so far back on an AR it gets in the way of the charging handle and leaves you without BUIS if that is important.
I use their 2.5x. It's low enough to use both eyes open and gives enough magnification for the longer shots I will realistically be making.
Have the 3x and 5x. Actually prefer the 5x with a top mounted dot. Excellent combo with low weight.
Love mine, I'm able to stretch my 8.5" .300 out to 500yds with it.
For astigmatism can’t be beat for the price! One issue I’m having is on my 7.62 model on my zastava m70 I am running out of windage adjustment and can’t get my reticle centered. Optic issue? I got the correct mounts according to the never misleading Internet forums… 😂
Wish they would release the GLx version. These are an awesome optic, they will be top-tier with better glass
As much crap luck as I’ve had with PA optics, this one does exactly what I want. I may have to give it a try; can’t wait forever for someone *Holosun* to make something similar.
I have three of the Raptors and have had no problems whatsoever. I just wish it came with a QD mount.
Thanks Mike, great review as always 🇺🇸
