The screen, the band and the bezel are real nice. Too bad the module sucks ass. It's slow and the navigation isn't like the others (not in a good way). Trying too hard to be a smart watch, which 1) it isn't 2) what we don't want.
@@jean-pierremartineau4136 Really? Well that's good to know, better before buying than after. Might it have been a problem with just yours or do you think it's like this for every watch?
@@brianmsahin Definitely not just mine, it's by design. Some irritants: No hourly signal, No "hold while you press" button presses, which means when you're setting up, you need to repeatedly press the same key over and over instead of just keeping it pressed), You need to cancel when you want to return to timekeeping mode after you use the stopwatch - the watch freezes for a couple of seconds when doing that, also, you need to navigate a menu structure to set up the watch. Yes, you can set it up via Bluetooth, but even to connect to the app, which is a new different app from the other watches (a third one!), you need to go to the menu. Regular G-Shocks just require a long button press. What reviews carefully before you get this one. It has upsides, but many downsides.
Got this just a couple days back. Bought it having 0 idea about the bluetooth functionality and all that other jazz. As a chef I do feel like it’s a bit overkill for the rest of the functions, but the notifications and timer are really practical for my day to day tasks, love it to death. Square watches for life
I've been wearing my gbx100-7 daily since July 2020 and haven't had any battery issues yet. Granted I am not using bluetooth. I live at the beach and love it for the tide function. The only signs of wear are some of the black lettering on the dial face for G-SHOCK are gone.
I now have 3 of these - the all black , the rose and black (swapped out the movement to put it in the all black GBD-200 resin case), and the best of the lot - the Kanoa Igarashi. I also love the sunrise/sunset setting which you can set to whichever country you are in and save User favourites. Awesome watches.
I bought the GBX-100NS-1 for the MIP (Memory in Pixel) display. Except to periodically sync the time with my phone, I keep the watch in Airplane Mode. I treat it as a G-Shock Square with a great display, and not as any type of fitness or smart watch.
@@toddsmith8608 I have no actual data, but I would think a minimum of 2 years, which is the Casio-estimated battery life. Minimal Bluetooth connectivity should have a positive effect.
I have the GBX-100 and I love the MIP display as well as the moon phase, tide graph, and especially the sunrise/sunset times. The downside I found is the ease of using the alarm function. I use multiple alarms daily as well as setting different alarm times daily and it is much easier on any other G-Shock or Casio. Something else I noticed is the user interface is not intuitive to me personally as I’m so used to Casios “standard” button functions. I bought a 5610U recently and while the 5610U is smaller then I like it kicked the GBX-100 off my wrist.
I have to admit, I have a GBD200 and considering how they are nearly the same functionally; for the extra $10 I do think GBX100 with that steel bezel might be the better choice simply stylistically. But the phone notifications sound like a nice feature but in practice are not all that useful. The UI is too just to clunky and a bit slow to check your notifications. Plus would be nice if you can have it so that you can choose which kinds of notifications it will alert you too. I ended turning notifications off simply because I felt it actually just prompted me to look at my phone more than say a smartwatch which you can glance at and know what has been received by your phone quickly. The phone notifications are just not very useful. The other watch functions though work great. Good workout timer. I found the step counter to be a little conservative compared to other devices but it does the job. But the watch just looks great and that display is awesome. Sadly the GBD lacks the feature that is the most useful for me as a lab technician, which is the countdown timer. It's also the most useful for a normal person, more than a stopwatch. Big omission from Casio that makes no sense
I did the comparisons last year between GBD200 and GBX100 and chose the GBX100 - the look is better and I went for the black with the gold coloured brushed metal surround - it still looks stunning. BEAUTIFUL looking watch. However, I don't need any of those bluetooth features, which all that adds to the cost, and with only a limited 2 year battery life, it unfortunately makes it a deal breaker for me. 🤷 Sorry G -Shock........try again.
I had the black one when it first came out & I didn’t really like it that much. Mainly because it was too complicated. I couldn’t even figure out how to do everything.
@@brianmsahin not setting it up. I mean like navigating different modes and stuff like that. Most G Shocks have a mode button that cycles through all the modes. This watch is just weird. I wasn’t feeling it. I couldn’t get used to it. I sold it.
I’ll stick to my 5600. The screen in this watch is amazing, but the lag and the connectivity makes this a firm NO for me. I don’t want a semi smart/dumb watch. Not, they just need to begin pushing that screen tech into their other models without all the Bluetooth binfire of connectivity.
@@DanRC69 I bought the GBX when it came out. Returned it immediately. The lag was an abomination. I mainly wanted the beautiful negative display. I didn’t care about the connectivity. But the lag was truly a decision maker. How could Casio even let this go into production?
@@whatsstefon I nearly returned mine and in some ways i wish i did, it's definitely a nice watch but Casio should NOT have released it as it is, the flaws it has is just unacceptable coming from Casio.
Got one today and love the aesthetics. It’s a really cool watch, but you can’t alter the seconds back to 00, so you can never get a completely accurate time and I find that really frustrating for a watch of this calibre and value, and it does faff me off a lot cos I can never get an exact time. The information on it is awesome if you can be bothered to use it all. I can’t to be honest. And yes, it would be better if it was solar. Who knows, Casio may bring one out soon. If they do, the world and his dog will want one. At the end of the day, all the extras are only necessary to those who will use them. If you don’t use them, then it will do the same as every other watch-tell the time! But it looks and feels amazing and I can live with its shortcomings.
I'd love a version of this with custom watchfaces and solar. At the moment it's slightly too simple to be a smartwatch, but doesn't have enough battery life to be a gshock. The watch looks great though.
Far from the best! Screen itself looks beautiful, but no more MIP screen watches Casio, please, before you fix two major flaws: these only have 1/1 s. stopwatch and they do not have the 'chime' aka hourly time signal. I've read that these flaws have something to do with the screen refreshing cycle. Don't know about that, but a digital G-Shock without at least 1/100 s. stopwatch and chime is not acceptable. Full stop.
While I've had exactly the same model for around 8 months, i just don't wear it that often, it's a nice watch but just pales in comparison to a good 5600. My most worn G-Shock is my GW-B5600-2ER which is massively better. The GBX100 is a bit of a mess, the UI is disorganized and quite annoying with too many useless features just spoiling the user experience. The list of flaws: 1) The chronograph doesn't measure fractions of a second - so mostly useless. 2) Time can NOT be set accurately on the watch - as seconds CAN'T be set?? 3) Some information on the screen is just WAY too small to see - again too much clutter 4) AWFUL disorganized interface - needs a LOT of work. 5) The strap squeaks and creaks like CRAZY - i HAD to swap it with a strap from a 5600 (much better). 6) Ridiculous 'WAIT TIMES' when clearing a stopwatch timing???? Overall its not a terrible watch, but there is room for a LOT of improvements. I wish i bought the GBD200, as it just looks better and with less functions it should be more practical and enjoyable to use.
The GBX-100 is a very flawed watch. The MOVE app is unintuitive and complex and quite unusable, after a dissconect the watch will not pair again, ever. Manual setting will not allow you to accurately set the seconds. It has a stop-watch feature that only counts full seconds. It has useless notification set-up. In general this watch is slow in operation and convoluted, not a pleasant or easy experience in any way. It has taught me to avoid Casio bluetooth watches, the promises do not live up to reality. I have given mine to a child for use as a simple plaything.

Just such a shame that the Casio move app is junk, really let's down a great watch.
With what is this better than GBD 200? Between these 2, i love mo0re my green GBD 200, is fantastic.
Pra quem precisa da complicaçã de maré e deseja trocar a pulseira, o GBX 100 é melhor
can it play doom?
If it hold up so long, why not adding solar and make it perfekt.
severely need a tough solar
BEAUTIFUL looking watch. However, I don't need any of those bluetooth features, which all that adds to the cost, and with only a limited 2 year battery life, it unfortunately makes it a deal breaker for me. 🤷
Sorry G -Shock........try again.
I had the black one when it first came out & I didn’t really like it that much. Mainly because it was too complicated. I couldn’t even figure out how to do everything.
You're kidding, this one is much easier to set up than some others. Even the manual is not needed. 😂
100% Agree. My 5600 gets WAY more wrist time than this.
Nah! Sticking with my DW5600. It's who I came to the dance with.
I prefer the 5600 because you can mod it
I agree 1000%
It's cool but no match for the steel and titanium square G Shocks.
It’s still not solar powered!!
A personal con for me is that didnt made it solar powered!!! This is the reason why im not interested
But it looks and feels amazing and I can live with its shortcomings.
you can get accurate time. Just press exit button D at the moment of 00 seconds. In other words after you exit setup mode seconds starts from 00.
@@oxyo777 Thanks for this Valdosta’s. I’ll have a look. Hope you are enjoying your one. I do like G Shock. They do make amazing watches! Take care.
Awesome watch but the apps from casio are total crap.
I'd love a version of this with custom watchfaces and solar. At the moment it's slightly too simple to be a smartwatch, but doesn't have enough battery life to be a gshock. The watch looks great though.
If only it was Tough Solar
No compass 🧭!!!??
I'd choose this over that Richard Mille crap.
I don't buy into this Bluetooth hoopla. Have a very old japan made protrek that never failed me. Did not even have to replace the battery even once
Watsica Manor
infamous??? shock resistance? You sure about that?
had one but the app is so terrible that it made me sell the watch
Far from the best! Screen itself looks beautiful, but no more MIP screen watches Casio, please, before you fix two major flaws: these only have 1/1 s. stopwatch and they do not have the 'chime' aka hourly time signal. I've read that these flaws have something to do with the screen refreshing cycle. Don't know about that, but a digital G-Shock without at least 1/100 s. stopwatch and chime is not acceptable. Full stop.
No solar = no purchase.
I won’t buy a G-Shock, that I need to open and change the battery.
Battery 🙃 Noooooo Just wish it was solar 😔
If only it was solar powered
While I've had exactly the same model for around 8 months, i just don't wear it that often, it's a nice watch but just pales in comparison to a good 5600.
My most worn G-Shock is my GW-B5600-2ER which is massively better.
The GBX100 is a bit of a mess, the UI is disorganized and quite annoying with too many useless features just spoiling the user experience.
The list of flaws:
1) The chronograph doesn't measure fractions of a second - so mostly useless.
2) Time can NOT be set accurately on the watch - as seconds CAN'T be set??
3) Some information on the screen is just WAY too small to see - again too much clutter
4) AWFUL disorganized interface - needs a LOT of work.
I wish i bought the GBD200, as it just looks better and with less functions it should be more practical and enjoyable to use.
no solar power and the negative display isnt good.
fucking dope! but cmon, apple watch...
I have given mine to a child for use as a simple plaything.
if a watch doesnt have solar and radio controlled or gps time its useless to me
The moment I saw it is not solar powered, I stopped watching. Sorry.
