Thank you for watching! For anyone curious why this analysis was shorter than, for example, the one on Okada Izo, it's mainly because I wound up covering subjects like Okita's boss fights, OSTs and some general Majima behavioral patterns in seperate videos before. So, rather than repeating past conclusions, I wound up restructuring this video around some key concepts insetad (mainly, those of parallels and refinement). If you're interested in even more Majima goodness beyond this video though, feel free to check out the following :) Why Everyone Loves Majima (Yakuza Voice Actor Spotlight): ua-cam.com/video/fg3u7zuraWc/v-deo.htmlsi=aY9tVzYC4OySjzuY Ranking Every Receive You in Yakuza (Worst to Best): ua-cam.com/video/kIebeHmGZ1Q/v-deo.htmlsi=gzM0pXH5sF35bhJV Ranking Every Boss in Yakuza Ishin + Kiwami (8K Special): ua-cam.com/video/0HsHnSj8Qe0/v-deo.htmlsi=wSf7DrP1BZnRd1yB Once again, happy 60th birthday to our beloved Mad Dog!
Yaaayyyy fantastic present for Majima's 60th year of existence ❤. You've perfectly captured what I love about the Ishin iteration of not only Majima, but also his dynamic with Kiryu. It's frankly incredible to me that they did so much for his character and then some in just one game. Really makes me long for another single Majima game. Those who think he can't carry a game on his own can drink bleach. *Shrug* Anyway, amazing video as always. RGG please give Ugaki-San some more work I'm begging!
Ngl hearing a version of Kiryu call a version of Majima a brother feels, so surreal. I can’t imagine the mainline versions having that sort of interaction, it just doesn’t seem to fit Kiryu. But hey, now Kiryu will have plenty of time to do shogi with his best buddy Majima-chan, might happen someday.
In the mainline games, Kiryu actually calls Majima "Majima no nii-san", or "(Elder) Brother Majima". They probably only translated that as "Majima-san" for simplicity.
The dynamic between kiryu and majima is pretty wholesome both in yakuza and in ishin, it's like in every era in Japan there's always gonna be a majima everywhere, happy 60th birthday majima
I’ll always appreciate my your analysis of Majima/Okita, as we never really saw these kinds of personal interactions in the mainline games. He was the bridge between the mysterious 1-6, to the newer layers added from 0, LAD/Gaiden & Infinite Wealth. Peak character, and peak analysis Gokudoni 🧡
Thank you for this video, I think it's a shame that we can't get this kind of Majima in recent games. I really hope that RGG studio don't waste such a fascinating character in the future.
The biggest flaw in Kiryu's character was always that he's too trusting and idealistic and Majima has always been the first to point that out, even in y8 Majima is still calling him out for being a softy idealist. After all it was that flaw that lead to the whole situation in y2 (among other things). While it could be argued that this is the strength of Kiryu's character, it just means that someone or something else has to conveniently step in to finish the job for Kiryu to be able to keep that clean image. I was really hoping for y6 to be a big leap for his character since the villain in that game was truly despicable but sadly he remained the same. To me Majima's way of thinking is a much better fit for the world of yakuza and i think that's why he's been a fan favorite in the series. by this point series has progressed too far for them to implement any meaningful changes to the main characters now but here's hoping that somewhere before the finish line they get to realize each others flaws and become the best versions of themselves.
Great video for the peakest of characters. I've always loved Majima's Ishin counterpart, probably more than his mainline version (minus Y0) so I'm glad theres someone else out there that digs Okita Soji too. Cheers Gokudoni
@@Cherry91 like 'ol Gokudoni said, he's the most complete version of Majima. A little bit of each iteration of him and his arcs mixed together into one complete package. I feel the same about Hijikata Toshizo (Ishin Yoshitaka Mine) except I like Mine a lil more. Speaking of Mine, a Hijikata Toshizo analysis would be great, it would even tie in to that Mine analysis that was made earlier
Im late for the party, but thank u so much for this video. Okita has been one of fav ever since I knew about Ishin and seeing his analysis brings me so much joy :D. Keep up the good work!
yakuza is my fav series and ishin is the only one i havent played. i finished rise of ronin and loved it. to see ishin and ronin are about the same era with even the same names makes me want to purchase ishin
It was part of a livestream on the official RGG Channel with Yokoyama-san and Hidenari Ugaki. Unfortunately, only channel members can watch the VOD, but I believe the following was the full name of it: 【龍スタTV特別回】8夜連続 桐生一馬 ! 『龍が如く』歴代作品 連続生実況 ! ※アーカイブの予定はございませ

Gotta love how each character in Ishin mirrors their main game counterparts.
It really showed how great of an ally Mine could’ve been.
Great! Now it's time to analyze Hijikata/Mine from Ishin for how he is the redeemed version of Yakuza 3
YES YES YES I'D LOVE TO SEE THAT PLS
RGG should never stop experimenting with characters

Happy birthday to the manager of the Grand
Hopefully, we have something like this next year (February 21st).

Yay same here! There's something extremely touching about him. You can't help but love him tbh.

Happy birthday we are birthday kyoudai.
Can you provide a link to the comment about Yokoyama wanting an Okita Souji spinoff? I really wanna read up on it, even if it's in Japanese.
