Hi Andrew, I have been enjoying your blog etc. I have just been in Tbilisi checking out some apartments. I hear there are new rules coming regarding getting a Georgian residency e.g you need to invest $100,000 ++ in real estate to get a 5 year temporary residency, then you need to keep investing to keep you residency after that. Do you think it is worth applying for Georgian residency now? Jake
Sounds very Robert Kiyosaki...Did you read "Rich Dad Poor Dad" before you began, or was it an influence as you grew your knowledge? Great books on how to escape the rat race. It's a mindset, almost a religion, you have to be a believer to make it happen.
How can one be a nomad capitalist as a professional (e.g. a lawyer) coming from a developing country like the Philippines? What different steps or considerations should one factor in as compared to an entrepreneur coming from USA, Australia, or Europe?
Being independent, or being an entrepreneur comes with a lot of responsibilities: you have to work up to sixteen hours a day, be frugal during the first years while your business take off. Why Andrew says otherwise?? IDK. Most small business owners work very hard; yes, they end up earning way more (if their businesses don't fail, like 80% do during the first 5 years), but it's not easy at all like many people think.
I mean he sort of tells how you to get out of different rat races, its mostly in the mind. You don't need a more expensive car, more expensive clothes, etc. Most people just go with the flow and do what other successful people do. You can break free from that mentality and sure it won't get you out of the rat race but it will save you some money and possibly change the way you think about what truly makes you happy.

I get what he's saying. The problem is, escaping the rat race may not be for everyone. In the Philippines, I have friends who are minimum wage earners, and taxes/social security contributions plus rent plus necessary expenses leave them with merely 10-15% of their monthly income. Oftentimes, they send those remaining money to their families in the provinces, or use it on a rainy day. Approximately, they earn $275 a month, and even with a 13th month pay, it just isn't enough. In my case, I've saved $3000+ this year on freelance writing jobs, which is quite enough but still way lower compared to other countries. I'm planning to start a blog soon but that's just me "trying to escape the rat race". This might be a gamble but this is what my heart wants. What I'm trying to say here is that it works with some, but not for everyone. I'm just about to find out if this applies to me.
car is a major major major liability, I will never own one either. I purchase assets with whatever I got, reduce or keep liabilities at bay and I slowly get rich and free. Time is valuable, money is not.
