Nobunaga stopped by Kyoto on the way to the Chugoku region to assist Hideyoshi in the Takamatsu siege. He had a handful of men and pages with him so Mitsuhide took advantage of that and instead of leading his 13000 men to assist Hideyoshi, he took them to Kyoto on the pretense that Nobunaga wanted a military parade and assaulted Honnoji in the wee hours of June 21 1582. 13 days later, the Hashiba army crushed the Akechi army and Hideyoshi had avenged his lord.
Nobunaga was not in Kyoto to ask to become shogun. There is no evidence that he intended to become shogun, although it is not possible to prove he did not either. Most scholars do not think he did though. At the time of the Honnoji incident, Nobunaga was in Kyoto waiting to amass his forces to move west in order to aid Toyotomi Hideyoshi in his campaign against the Mori.

There are many possible reasons as to Why Mitsuhide Betrayed Nobunaga not just one. And Hideyoshi Didn’t just Avenge Nobunaga out of loyalty. Like his Rival Tokugawa Ieyasu, he too wanted to fill the Power Vacuum left behind by Nobunaga. It was a race against time to do so before the Tokugawas.
Cause of Akech rebellion at least on thr surface was that Oda ordered Akech to give up his land and go to some remote land as daimyo. Akech hated to do so, therefore rebellion and killing of his master Oda.

Oda Nobunaga despite being surrounded by 10 to 1 in Honnoji. But did Nobunaga whimper and cry? No, Nobunaga actually took up a Yomi Bow and start shooting at Akechis troops killing each one who get close until he run out of arrows, after that he decide to pick up a spear and sword but realized everything lost, so he commit suicide instead.
Yes Toyotomi Hideyoshi was of “lowly” background, but his dad was not a poor farmer. The father of Toyotomi was foot soldier a so called Ashigaru and they owned a small piece of land making them wealthier than other farmers. So the portrayal of Toyotomi as super poor guy is somehow wrong.

No Odas travel to kyoto had nothing to do with plans to be named Shogun, Oda also stated this quite clearly And second mistake of this clip was ,that actually hideyoshi couldnt be shogun due hes low class backround. As shoguns needed to be direct decedants of Minamoto clan. Hideyshi was given the title TAIKO by the emperor. Wich means regent.
You're wrong about that, actually to become shogun need only permission from the Imperial court and a bloodline at highest which are the Taira and Minamoto, and then lowest. You need more prestige and renown achievement.
