Childhood memories of listening to multiple shortwave bands and the fascination in discovering the big world of 70s radio

I miss hearing this. Used to be able to pick this interval signal up about 10.30 pm on either my Decca clock radio or Amstrad portable AM/FM radio. Always on AM as their 1179kHz frequency was close to Piccadilly Radio's 1152kHz frequency at the time.

I've no idea why this suddenly popped into my head but i used to hear this on AM radio and was always fascinated by the sudden change from the jingle to the upbeat folk version. Must have been late 80s/ early 90s when i were a lad in high school

This takes me back to Birmingham, England DXing as a teenage boy on a valve radio my mum gave me. After I graduated I enjoyed a 30 year career as a radio presenter in the UK. I remember this Ident. It helped create the magic of radio for me which led to my subsequent infatuation with the medium. Thanks for sharing.

Same here, 13 in 1980, and loved international radio stations. Radio Sweden sounded super mysterious- and the news items often emphasised detente, co operation and neutrality. It was very much the ‘third way’.

The melody was written by Ralph Lundsten. He has recorded several variations of it under the titles "Ut i vida världen"/"Out in the Wide World" and "The Endless Tale". I think the version heard in the last 20 seconds here has also been released on disc, but I can't find the name of it right now.

The thing I loved about international radio, is that you could get various views on an important topic. Now, everyone is living inside their own information bubbles.

a little supplement to the halland tunnel programme. Eng. Rhoca Gil. Rhoca gil is produced by Rhone-Poulenc (nothing to do with the composer) this company merged with the mentioned - Hoecst AG -Various Hoechst factories were bombed during the 2nd world war and were the oil company for the 2nd world war. In addition to that, they were also sentenced for testing painful drugs on concentration camp prisoners during the 2nd World War - After the war, company after company - or joint stock company was connected to this large German wealthy chemical manufacturers in many countries - such as in Sweden - it is Santi Synthelabo which provides vaccine products and other hospital products. General Electric co- BASF - AGFA - all are connected to the large company Various HOECHST - yes, it is also ok to mention - the European Round Table - which has many members and works closely with the EU Commission - (as the only ) otherwise the EU Commission is not entitled to any other work than precisely this. So the design of our open market. The purchase and handling of the toxic substance for tunnels to stop ground water penetrating the tunnel is Sweden's own fault. Finally, I would like to say - that there is zero information on the internet about the poisoning from Rhoca Gil. Who made the purchase? and at all - why didn't the Swedes follow the instructions or the user manual? I wonder about. but thanks for sending it. here at 19.00 and 20.00 Sunday. November 20, 2022. from FM 991. strange this.
