His mother Esther was a powerful witch who invented dark magic and created the first vampires, the Originals. His father was a werewolf. Mickael wasn't his real dad so Rebekah, Elijah, Freya, Finn were his half-siblings.

In order to become a vampire she has to die then she will be a full tribrid. Hope has magic because of her grandmother Esther and has the werewolf gene from Klaus and Hayley.
