    I always used the offset mount, but I decided to try the top mounted dot in my last 2-gun comp. When I got home I immediately switched back to the offset. I run my 4-16 on a 1.93” mount and the offset on a 1.93” mount so they are the same height.
    The offset is much faster for 2-gun.

    One of the biggest issues I have with canted dots is snagging and hard impacts with full weight on a tiny optic mount. I like slim profile. Run everything I can 6 or 12 o clock if I can

    Perfect time for this. So I finished bulding a MK-12 Mod H and am looking at glass. Im between the PLxC as a lighter LPVO option with great glass, or the GLX with less glass clarity but a good reticle design. Im having a hard time finding any other MPVOs that have good reticle design so any suggestions would be awesome!

    • @wingatesolutions
      @wingatesolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      Either would be a good choice. It would be a toss up for me too. For the money, I would probably go 2.5-10 and use the saved money to mount an upgraded top dot. PA needs to make a 2-12 plx-c.

    • @Just_A_Gun_Guy
      @Just_A_Gun_Guy 4 місяці тому +1

      @wingatesolutions if they made a PLxC in the MPVO tier it would have made this much easier I agree! Yeah I figured you would consider it a toss up as well. I just don't know if the parallax is that helpful or not when it comes to making those shots in the ~300-500 range

    • @wingatesolutions
      @wingatesolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      I love the plx-c but the one issue (and its not really an issue and its pretty much across all the lpvos for me) is if I set the eye piece perfect at 1x to have a nice flat image, then its blurry/ not a perfect image when I crank up the magnification. I solve this by marking the eyepiece adjustment with a paint pen for use at 1x and at 8x. I dont have this issue with the 2.5-10x.

      @@wingatesolutions that's a great tip, I think Brass Facts mentioned that in his review as well and had to do the same. I'll just have to play around and see if the larger magnification plus a piggyback is worth it over the LPVO on its own... although I may still piggyback with a red dot.

    • @wingatesolutions
      @wingatesolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      I have both and still debate which one I prefer lol. The 1-8 is handier and slightly more practical weight wise. The 2.5x wins for distance.

    I've always favored the top MOUNTED MRDS when using Magnified Optic like LPVO or MPVO.
    Back in the day when 3Gun Nation was huge the OFFSET BUIS were tits lol.
    I do favor 1.93 for LPVO mounts but when using top MOUNTED MRDS I do prefer that 1.7 height. Its probably just training type issue but I get on the optic split second faster when using 1.93 mount .
    I zero my MRDS for 50Y just like every other non BDC Optic I own.
    In 2Gun depending on the stage if I'm using LPVO I usually keep my optic on 3x so I can quickly engage targets from 50Y to 200Y. I mainly use that MRDS for quick and fast up close targets . I just stick that dot on upper Alpha box and shred 2 rounds .
    Awesome video bro

    Not sure if i missed it but what scope mounts and height are you running

  • @terrarecon
    @terrarecon 4 місяці тому +1

    What I'm using is Reptilia Corp for my LPVO and 12 o'clock piggy back mount. It is essentially one piece in that the top front scope ring is replaced by the piggy back integrated scope ring. This means there is no additional work to center the red dot, because it's built in. The scope and piggy back mount are solid. The scope mount is not QD though. But I am okay with that. I went with piggy back because I do not like offset back-up irons or red dots. For one, when using a can, you just rotate gas into your own face. Secondly, I prefer to use my red dot to acquire my target before using my LPVO. Third, a 12 o'clock is so much easier for me when using NV. I don't have to battle with alignment so much since I can just raise up my face to a more natural alignment with the height of the red dot.

    • @wingatesolutions
      @wingatesolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      Nice! Those are solid mounts. I like non-qd mounts. If I want to still be able to remove it in the field, I can put a cut down wrench in the grip.

    • @terrarecon
      @terrarecon 4 місяці тому +2

      @@wingatesolutions Exactly my thoughts if I need to remove it. If I'm under fire while using my rife and the scope is damaged, I can of course use the red dot, but if both scope and red dot are damaged I will switch to my secondary weapon.

    You said you're running a chunky build... How heavy is it? I'm currently spreadsheeting out some different options for an SPR I want to put together and my lightest option is just over 10lbs with a 14.5" barrel. I'd prefer to go with the 18" barrel option, but it's just over 11.5lbs. I am planning on using a QD bipod so I can easily drop almost a pound, but not sure how practical that would be outside of a spreadsheet environment. Guessing with some training that bipod transition could be reasonable, but we'll just have to see.

    • @wingatesolutions
      @wingatesolutions  4 місяці тому +1

      I will put them on the scale and let you know. The QD bipod is a good idea in my opinion 🤙

      With the suppressor, sling, but no mag or bipod it is at 10lbs 15oz. No suppressor it is at 9lbs 12oz. The hanson profile barrel helps balance out the weight. Im good with the weight for day to dat things aroujd the property. If I had to carry it non stop fot weeks on end, my general purpose 16" with the PA PLX-c 1-8 might be the choice.

    Im my opinion, your backup sighting system should not be dependent on the same mounting structure as your primary sighting system. Something goes haywire with the primary mounting foundation and BOTH sighting systems are useless. Spread out your risk. A backup should be an actual backup. If not, all we're doing is paying lip service to an otherwise sound strategy. In other words, if you're going to run a 12:00 rds over the top of a scope of some kind, you should be running backup irons too. Really, I'd argue that backup irons/fixed sights are a requirement for a serious use rifle.
    I like the setups on your rigs.👍👍

      I can buy into that. I still run BUIS since they weigh almost nothing. I dont run a top mount red dot as BUIS. Its an alternative aiming solution with a specific purpose. Close range.

      I dont have direct experience with that specific optic but I really like running t1/t2 style optics as a piggy back. They have bit more bulk but are a proven design.

    How tall are the turrets on your 2.5-10? Im looking into the reptilia corp aus mount paired with their rof mount for an acro p2 along with either the primary arms glx 2.5-10 or the 3-18
