I met Hughie in 2007 and spoke to him after a show outside Pittsburgh. He was a nice and gracious guy. I told him I saw where "Green Grass and High Tides" was picked as a top 10 southern rock classic on VH1. He said, 'Yes, it was nice to get the recognition.' He was great to talk to then 3 weeks later I see on the news he died of a heart attack. So sad. He was a great guy! RIP Hughie.

One helluva good guitar player. When he was playing with skynyrd after the tribute tours were done around 96 nor 97 and Ed King left again they were on fire. Medlocke, Rossington and Hughey on guitars, leaon and Billy still kickin and playing. Not sure who was drumming then.

I saw them in 98 and that was the lineup. I think Owen Hale was the drummer

Met Hughie after a show at the Cabooze in Mpls. in the early 90's. They kicked ass especially in a small venue. We talked about his maple guitar. Very gracious guy. Didn't get an autograph but a handshake will do. Saw the latest configuration with Henry Paul last Saturday with about 800 other gray folks in the TC's. Green Grass and High Tides is live is about as close as you can get to a religious experience. Only bad thing: almost no young people in their 20's to 40's. They don't know what they are missing.

My band in 1981. We loved The Outlaws, and we covered There Goes Another Love Song, and Green Grass and High Tides (which we did a double encore along with Freebird). Man those were the days.

So sad to hear Hughie talkin' and now knowing that he's no longer with us. Why does GOD take these incredible players away from us, why!!

@@billiondollarbaby3276 Maybe or maybe not...As an aside, Hughie's son, who was not in the music biz passed 9 years sooner (46) than Hughie (55) from essentially the same thing (heart problems)

People get old and they die. It's not like what you call "GOD" has something personal against them. Hughie packed a lot of life into the years he had here. Celebrate his life...
