- Today was started pretty crazy with an officer-involved shooting about 12 blocks north of the US Capitol, followed by Biden's motorcade and Harris' helicopter, ending up at the CVS drugstore that organized shoplifters have looted to the point that it's being closed.

I hated being in DC when I was there last. It’s dirty, run down, with unfriendly people. It is a sick city..
I met some friendly people when I visited there. Both local residents and tourists.
We took two family vacations there in 2011 and 2012. Each for a full week. They were both great weeks. We stayed in the tourist areas. Very friendly ppl for the most part. Even our congressman’s office arranged all kinds of great tours for us. Unfortunately, heard it did get worse since Biden took over. 😢🐶
I went there in the early 80’s a few times with my father and his new trash family.
I wasn’t allowed to go outside after dark. Always has and always will be a hole!
It's embarrassing as the capital of the United States.

It only depends on which blocks you happen to be on, many if not most of the blocks west of 16th St. N.W. are reasonably easy to make your way around without much commotion.

What will happen is that all the stores in bad neighborhoods will close shop due to the lawless policies and lack of accountability created by the politicians in these neighborhoods. Then the people who live there will cry when the stores close, yet they are the ones who voted for the politicians who enacted these lawless policies.
I feel sorry for these voters who cast their ballot under false pretenses, Politicians lie and most likely made promises of a better tomorrow if you vote for me and this is what the people got. I always wonder who the better tomorrow is for. Politicians never say. They always generalize.

I was once sitting in grid lock during 5:00 rush hour on N. Capital, same neighborhood. When a gun fight broke out in an ally next to me. I was stuck, couldn’t get out of the line of fire.

My sentiment exactly. "But I still gotta get a burger". I miss real burgers soooo much. For some reason the number one ingredient for a burger in Ecuador is salt. A restaurant would be easy to start yet I would have to put huge bags of salt on the table for all the customers. I have been checking out burgers in South Korea on UA-cam. The burgers look so edible.

Sort of. CVS bought out People's and took over all their stores (which is why it's so big in DC).
If I remember correctly, the CVS chain of pharmacies was based out of someplace in New England, possibly near the Boston area, the Peoples Drug stores converted to CVS during the 1993-94 period.

People in Washington, D.C. have reciprocal borrowing befits with libraries in some nearby cities and counties. People who live, work, or go to school in D.C. or in many of the suburbs in Maryland and Virginia can get a free library card at their own library, and at each others' libraries. Non residents of the area can get a D.C. library card for $20 a year.
A D.C. Library Police officer died in a police negligence case. A retired police officer from the regular Washington, D.C. police department was hired to teach a class of library police officers how to use batons, at a classroom in a branch library. The regular officer engaged in horseplay, pointed his gun as the library police officer, and the gun went off, killing the library police officer. She left a young son and I think that she also left her parents. The retired officer was arrested and was prosecuted for manslaughter by the U.S. Department of Justice. I don't know the outcome of the court case.
