Totally agree. I just wrote about it too. This is the worst translation ever. The translator left out all of the most important parts and the thing he was translating was not even precise. Terrible job
I was just going to say the same thing. The translation is terrible and misleading. Rubiales did this interview to try to "clean up" the image with the American public. The translation was done this way on purpose. There are thousands+ of really great translators out there, hiring one wasn't the issue. Stop it.

This is about respecting boundaries. You cannot assume that only because you might think a kiss on the lips is nothing dramatic, this is true for others as well. In this case Hermoso (and a lot of others) probably considers this an intimate act you do not want with anyone but your family. Recognising, that each person has their own set of boundaries and making sure to respect them is one of the tasks in life. And Rubiales has failed doing that despite his position in which he should act as a role model.
Others might have kissed and were (hopefully) okay with it. I know I would not want to be kissed on the lips by a man nor a beautiful woman besides my wife.

Piers Morgan was not aggressive or outright accusatory but he EXPOSED Rubiales and showed everybody that Rubiales crossed a line and doesn't even understand what he did wrong. Piers Morgan showed everybody that Rubiales should not be in a position of power in the near future and certainly not in women's football. That means Piers certainly wasn't pro Rubiales. It is very much possible. My first language is Bosnian/Croatian, and I experienced many bad translations into English. Similarly, we are also a tactical Nation, and I can understand his reasoning. However, he made a mistake, but it shouldn't have been a big deal, for God's sake.

Inappropriate, unseemly, unacceptable way to behave towards the player but also, blown out of proportion and not "assault" or "Violence". However, the more this man talks, the more his arrogance shines through. This is a man who was promoted beyond his abilities. President (of anything) means something. Sure, he is entitled to make mistakes, but he must know that actions (whatever the intentions) have consequences. I don't believe this man is a threat to Hermoso, or any woman, and he should not be treated like he's a sex offender or a monster. But again, he must accept that he has behaved in a way that is deemed, by most people, as inappropriate (and by some as criminal). If he doesn't realize that, then he should not be in the job. Unfortunately, a situation that could have been delt with in such a way as to be a lesson to all, will now be thrashed out by the extremists on both sides. Rubiales takes a big portion of the blame for that, for not being the big man and admitting that his actions were flat out wrong.

This man Rubiales kissed this woman Hermoso during World Cup celebrations. The woman didnt shoved him, argued or even frowned but instead accepted it with a smile and laughed at the situation with some mates inside the team´s bus later.

As a fluent Spanish speaker. This was one of the worst translations ever. The translator left so many crucial points of Luis’s responses. This did not allow the entire truth to be heard by the millions of viewers that tune in to Piers.. Sad.

It was a moment of passion and being over excited, I just think the girl felt alittle silly after the media and maybe her peers made her feel like it was wrong and she began to believe it. It depends on the type of kiss and cultural context. My lady got a platonic kiss from an Italian diplomat whom we all respect --- neither abusive nor awkward, and we laughed about it after this Rubiales circus. But, if we're uncomfortable about a (foreign) custom, we're reasonable enough to differentiate between our feeling uncomfortable/awkward and being abused. She used to tease me for not liking hugs from guys, but we wouldn't gaslight to make them believe they're abusers simply coz I'm not comfortable, unless if they insist after telling them of my preferences.

1. "ius praevium" means no conviction/punishment for conduct not previously declared to be a crime: if the court/legislature wants the act to be regarded a crime (sexual abuse), they have to first make law to criminalise it, and one can't be charged retrospectively.
2. "nullum crimen sine lege" - no crime without law, ie, if no law says a particular conduct constitutes a crime, then that conduct doesn’t constitute a crime.
3. Part of material requirements for crime is intention (or dolus), which has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt. There is no evidence Rubiales intended to sexually gratify himself from the encounter, and the cultural context, Rubiales's word, and Hermoso and teamates joking about it, are all enough grounds to cast reasonable doubt about criminal intention.
We're not denying that she felt uncomfortable, but an uncomfortable encounter isn't necessarily synonymous to abuse/crime. This event is revolutionary: and many people have now learnt they've to abandon the platonic kiss custom, but still we can't clam Rubiales is guilty before the custom has been criminalised.
Lastly, you mentioned authority, but authority doesn't nullify platonic cultural context. Pope Francis kisses both babies and authorities, (similar to most parents, yet babies can't consent). You said what's important is "what it meant for her," but, if you were following the story from the onset, when the accusations were first raised, she responded: "It was a totally spontaneous mutual gesture because of the immense joy that winning a World Cup brings. What you hear is not the translator, is a dubbing of his responses.
At the time of the interview an interpreter would have been present, making communication possible.
