The real gift is what the sake does, which is that it reveals the knowledge that was lost during the Void Century. As Nami put it in the latest Live-action, "This is better than gold, this is knowledge". As mentioned in the video about how Prometheus gifted humanity with a 'gift' that gave them knowledge, I think the OP is also the 'gift' of knowledge. I think Oda thought long and hard about the greatest gift that the world of OP could receive and what we can receive as readers and came up with the conclusion that the greatest 'gift' can only be Knowledge. With this newfound knowledge, they are able to make decisions about how they can create a better future for all of mankind. The connection to Christmas I think is the gift. Elbaf of course is connected to how they worship the Sun God in the form of the Winter solstice. Norse myths are the origins of Xmas so perfect place to go next. But at the end of the day, Xmas is still secondary to the themes of Pirates I think. I'll have to look up the "Skin Theory" but sounds interesting.

I think I called him something Like Plum since plum in Japanese will be Puramu. The "pur" portion indicating his connection to Pluton which is "Puruton" in Japanese. All I will say is, take a look at the name of the Tontatta looking girl who is a part of Shank's alliance in Elbaf. I wasn't too far off from what Oda was also thinking. Yeah you might be right about the WG trying to hide the D but it may be more like the WG was trying to cover all traces of it. Whether it be the D or Do, the WG does all they can to completely irradicate it not because of how you pronounce it but because of what it stands for. My other favourite idea for the D that people also talk about is that it's a smile 😁

Certain members of the community are really big into it and there's a Japanese UA-camr called Yuderon who's super into it too. One form of goroawase is when you can read a sequence of numbers as words in Japanese ie "56" which can be read as "gomu" as in rubber which is why Luffy is often associated with the number 56 in the story.

It's likely a word play on "laugh" but I have a feeling there's a missing link, another reason why he's called Luffy. But if it's just a wordplay on laugh then it's still pretty powerful considering Nika. Oda's even stated that the smile is the ultimate power or something along those lines too

I might be conflating but I'm sure it was something along those lines. The Halloween theming being juxtaposed with the Christmas theme you're pushing makes perfect sense to me as a proud believer in ParVision's "Shadow theory"

The real gift is what the sake does, which is that it reveals the knowledge that was lost during the Void Century. As Nami put it in the latest Live-action, "This is better than gold, this is knowledge". As mentioned in the video about how Prometheus gifted humanity with a 'gift' that gave them knowledge, I think the OP is also the 'gift' of knowledge. I think Oda thought long and hard about the greatest gift that the world of OP could receive and what we can receive as readers and came up with the conclusion that the greatest 'gift' can only be Knowledge. With this newfound knowledge, they are able to make decisions about how they can create a better future for all of mankind. The connection to Christmas I think is the gift. Elbaf of course is connected to how they worship the Sun God in the form of the Winter solstice. Norse myths are the origins of Xmas so perfect place to go next. But at the end of the day, Xmas is still secondary to the themes of Pirates I think. I'll have to look up the "Skin Theory" but sounds interesting.

Yeah you might be right about the WG trying to hide the D but it may be more like the WG was trying to cover all traces of it. Whether it be the D or Do, the WG does all they can to completely irradicate it not because of how you pronounce it but because of what it stands for. My other favourite idea for the D that people also talk about is that it's a smile 😁

Certain members of the community are really big into it and there's a Japanese UA-camr called Yuderon who's super into it too. One form of goroawase is when you can read a sequence of numbers as words in Japanese ie "56" which can be read as "gomu" as in rubber which is why Luffy is often associated with the number 56 in the story.
