    Finse to Vatnahalsen, minute by minute, so slow TV. Beautiful autumn weather with snow and autumn colors in the high mountains.
    Rallarvegen was built to supply the Bergen line when it was built. Rallarvegen was completed before construction of the Bergen line began. Rallarvegen reached Haugastøl in 1902.
    Finse tunnel was open in 1993, and replace the old track/line from Finse to Lågheller, most of the line is visible today.
    Along rallarveien and Bergensbanen, guard houses were built, there are about 3 kilometers between these houses. in the high mountains. Here the maintenance crew lived with families all year round, tough lifestyle especially in the winter with large amounts of snow and snowdrifts and not least an icy wind. The homes were built for 2 families in each house, in very snowy winters crews who were responsible for clearing snow also had to spend the night in these houses, cramped space I would assume.

      Matias thank you for kind words, one can bike this until it is to much snow, this trip was done in mid October and just a dusting of snow as you can see. Weather can change very fast up here, luckly for me i live only 3 hours drive away so i know when the weather is ok.

    I’ve watch the train from Finse to Vatnahalsen and always wished I could see what was hidden by the miles of snow sheds. Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your ride!

    I like your video. It remembers me on my tour at 1st August 2003. With Flåm train to Myrdal. Then with our Bikes to Finse and return to Flåm. 92km. Great tour with fantastic impressions.

      Glad you like the video. We are privilege to have roads like this to bike or hike on, from barren land down to sea level with very lush Flåm valley.

    1°C? To cold for me. That First half of the ride looked very challenging, good thing you had snow tires on.
    So you can ride from 1338M above sea level all the way down to sea level in Flåm in just a couple hours?
    Nice.🚲

      I estimate about 3 hours without any breaks form Finse to Flåm, howere since there are no sound or light poluttion up here, you havetostopto just suck in the silence and views :)

    hey great video, if i can ask, do you know if there is road maintenance for the snow in winter, ??

    • @imh9456
      @imh9456  Рік тому

      Hi, There are no snow clearing during winter , that's mission impossibel. What they do is clearing the hugh snowbanks when they start maintenace work during summer. Road usally open in late June or July, depends how much snow there is.

      @@albertomurgia. well it depends on how much snow there is, i have bike this road in late November without any snow but very cold - 5 Celsius and windy.

      @@imh9456 ok then it should be no problem, I am going to cycle to nortcape this winter and I wanted to do this stretch of road,thank you so much for the information

    • @imh9456
      @imh9456  Рік тому

      @@albertomurgia. The chance of you cycling this road in November is very low (0%). This construction road was built as a support road for when they built the Bergen Railway and was only used in the summer or until the road was impassable due to the amount of snow. Most of this road is above the tree line that means barren landscape, weather up here is very harsh during winter , do not plan to bike this road during winter time.
