They were rocking one of these at Synthfest a few days ago, does sound marvelous. On a Dulcitone note - I spoke to the granddaughter of Thomas Machel a while back and she had a photo of them stood outside their shop in Glasgow about 100 years ago. Nice to put some faces to the Dulcitone story. I'll have to dig it out.
The custom Rhodes engineered MK8 analogue preamp features parametric EQ, independent drive, envelope control, wah, new vari-pan with 4 waveshapes, audio rate modulation capabilities and dual expression pedal control inputs. True analogue signal path.
An amazing instrument, I recently made a composition with an instrument of elementary sounds called "Tanya" and it reminded me of the vid of the Celest that you got :), so happy to see you again !!!
I too am pleased to see you posting again. I have been thinking of you in the interim, weirdly some might think but given that we've met and chatted and also because i've watched a hundred of your videos, perhaps it's not so weird. It has been like when you've heard a school mate has had a horrible accident. Hope all close to you are well too.
Nice reboot for an inspiring institution in the music industry - trusted, subtle-yet-complex, humble, challenging and well ahead if it’s time - made it’s mark, changed music but remembers what it’s great at. And as for the Rhodes Mk8, same. Well done.
So good to have you back Christian! My UA-cam wasn't the same without you. This Rhodes is very tasty indeed. I own a Mark I and it's the best purchase I've ever made.
So good to have you back!!! And great demo; this MK8 is gorgeous. I owned a MKI in the mid 70s. I worked in keyboard retail when Roland bought the Rhodes name. We carried the Rhodes MK-80 and MK-60. The piano sounds were from Roland’s RD-1000/MK-20. The keyboard assembly was similar to (or the same as) their RD pianos. They had other products that were copies of Roland synths; I think the Rhodes line was geared to the home piano stores. Been over 30 years now!
I thought I knew how a Rhodes sounded, until today :O) What a VERY versatile instrument! As a guitarist I'd say it's almost like the "guitar for a keys player". At 09:02 I realised that was the sound from Steven Wilson's "Luminol" (I always assumed it was a synth, but went back to check the vid, nope, looks Rhoadsy). Thanks as always for the superb content. This was an eye-opener.
Awesome video! I've been fiending for this new Rhodes, but want to wait until they've demoed the effects version before pulling the trigger. Also I think you forgot to come back to the mono vs stereo output thing you brought up at 2:30.
I'm glad you're back Christian! You're an amazing teacher, I've learned so much from you and I hope you can continue to teach others and share your experience.
Hey Christian, Thanks for all you do. I’ve been having a lot of issues with my mk8, a lot of buzz and barely any sound coming out at times, and seemingly no buzz when compared side by side to my Wurlitzer, on the same power bar and the same amp input. Very strange. The Mk8 was seemingly working a little better when it first arrived but the buzz has been persistent and not circumventable regardless of where it’s being plugged into or volume levels - no other instrument of mine has the same issue. Have you experienced anything similar?
I own a 1972 Mk1a with the Buzz Watson stamp on it. The action is very unresponsive but the sound is amazing. I’ve owned and played on Rhodes since 1976 and it’s easily the best sounding one. I prefer the raw sound of mine to what I am hearing here. The advantage of this newer model is the huge improvement in the action and all the great processing onboard. You can do so much more with the newer model.
Lovely instrument! That instrument that is sharing so lovely sounds is what everyone should searching for. Thank you! Glad you comeback with so positive energy 😊
When I did my fantasy window shopping on the Rhodes website that's the colour I chose too! Looking forward to seeing more of your new toys and seeing the fun you had in Air Studios. Good to see you back making videos too, they do bring joy into my life. Oh and the Rhodes sounds stunning.
Really nice to have you back here, Christian! Looking forward to more inspiring content!

Unless it was when he was demonstrating how the stereo panning became more a volume tremolo effect when using only one output to mono.
I'm glad you're back Christian! You're an amazing teacher, I've learned so much from you and I hope you can continue to teach others and share your experience.
Glad and relieved to have you back Christian!

Good to see you back online, we missed you.
When I get old, I'll have a Rhodes and a Jaguar F-Type matching the color. Now that's life.
I am SO glad to see you again, Christian... and what a way to come back. This Rhodes is gorgeous!

You should purchase a bump/ miracle mod kit from vintage vibe
Happy to see you again Christian

Incredible and super cool. Rhodes never sounded quite like this. I love the flow of your explorations. Great chords.
Lovely instrument! That instrument that is sharing so lovely sounds is what everyone should searching for. Thank you! Glad you comeback with so positive energy 😊
Almost no one watching this video could reasonably afford to buy it.
@@MrTomDangerous yes, I just watched their prices. Maybe better a harp? 😁
Was so delighted to get this notification. Delighted you are back. I'm sure we disagree on many things, but my world is much better with you in it.

The modern effects sound really fitting .
That dulcimer in the beginning is to die for! Especially when paired with the Rhodes. Incredible tone
