  • A mobile geological drilling rig is used to investigate a huge landslide that was triggered by the 2016 Kaikōura Earthquake near Waiau, New Zealand.
James Chapman of CW Drill explains how the PQ coring system works. This sort of system is used for all sorts of geological research and minerals exploration.

Cool video, I learned some voabulary in english.
But always remember to wear protective gloves!
I'm also wondering if you extract the core with water about fluid contamination.
You don't want to alter the water composition of the extracting material

How this landslide looks "scientifically" and the "technology" used - are delightful words to my ears 🤗

@@OutThereLearning😱 Omgosh - if you were to do a livestream Q & A I think I'd literally implode rofl (unsubtle hint 😁). I moderate on an Iceland volcano (Fagradalsfjall) live chat - @TokAir Iceland, youtube. If you get time it'd be beyond fabulous if you popped in to say hello (another unsubtle hint 😂) OK ok - there's a fine line between enthusiastic & pushy 🤣 She who dares - wins 😉

these machines usually don't exceed 50 meters.
They are used to dig superficial and small wells (not for drinking water) and to explore the geology beneath us, manly for engineering purposes.
