    I am new in fishing , bought few spoons, lures, spinner. No luck at all in various Alberta lakes. Then I bought some fly and used them in spinning rod (Mitchel 300 Pro Combo with 10 LB monofilament ). I use bobber 5' above fly. ( bought cheapest $5 for 12 fly at Canadian tyre) and catch 3 trout (9 , 11 and 12 inch ) at Chain lake last weekend between 5 and 9 pm. My first 3 caught fish. This weekend I will try spinner and minnow at Chestermere lake , they got good pike there.

      ***** I am new in fishing too, I've been fishing a couple times near Lethbridge and went to Castle River near Pincher Creek last weekend. I believe that those cheapest spoons are good, works for me. Have a nice summer!

      +TmB I think the best all around lures for any species is Inline Spinners. They attract aggressive fish looking for something healthy and alive. In my opinion the spinners are the best :p

    Awesome Video! I think spinners are the best for any species... I like the spinners with a skirt, I find it makes the spinners more appealing and hides the hooks for species like trout and salmon :)

    Inline spinners have caught me a lot of largemouth bass and panfish down here in the southern US. Almost seems to me like the closest thing to a catch-all lure.

    hands down blue fox #4 vibrax is my favourite trout lure. Rainbows and coho salmon crush these in the river mouths

    Can I just say, this vid is about the lures, WD40 is used at the end of the season, or if my lures have all got wet, just to keep the lures in tip top condition, nothing to do with attraction or fish oil or any other rubbish that people post on here. Sticking a hook in a fish is more harmful than a drop of WD40 in a 1000 acre lake! Thanks

      MrNWLF Nice1 pal ive got a few of each of the different trout lures you've shown but can you tell me how to get a farther cast with the plastic plug/diving lures please i have 4/5 different patterns and sizes but a few of them are very light in weight so i don't think I'll be able to get the distance i want with just the plug on the end of my line, hope you can give me some advice 😀

    Hi, I use a Greys G Lite Spin 5'6" I'm not really bothered about how far it casts as it catches me LOADS of fish, it does cast the 5g slightly further but the 3g still gets me the fish, not sure what you mean by a bad rod? What do you use?

    great video mate! I'm going to give spinners a go when the season starts again. how would you attach them to a braided line? Im guessing braided line > swivel > 12 to 18" of mono line > spinner
    sorry if thats a dumb question fairly new to fishing lol

      @grant mccallum uni to uni would be more standard for a freshwater spin set up, but using a swivel to join braid to fluro is fine 2 just check out the boys of fynn catching sea-trout

    I just bought blue fox inline spinner 1/8 oz now I'm having second thought about this lure because the hook seem a little too big for trout.

    • @jimmynich4791
      @jimmynich4791 8 років тому

      Don't rate blue fox spinners at all, I bought a few and they were knackered after a couple of sessions and they didn't get any tough use, also they don't always spin and the hooks are shit, absolute rubbish. DAM Effzett spinners have never let me down, always spin even if retrieving really slowly cast much better than those blue fox shit as well. Savage Gear Rotex are nice spinners as well and of course Mepps are excellent, probably plenty of other good spinners but those three I stick with.

      Hi Andre, I am in the UK, Wales in fact where trout fishing is mainly done on the fly, we are limited to where lure fishing is allowed! But these are what work for me here in North Wales. Feel free to send me a 'Cast Master' ;-)

    do u add weights to the inline spinners i can only cast them a couple of meters it is to light is it just my rod what do i do

    • @MrNWLF
      @MrNWLF  10 років тому

      Hi Mate, No need to add any weights, you just need the right gear, a small spinning rod of around 6 foot, rated to 7-8 grams, and a small fixed spool reel with 4lb line, this should see you casting these lures up to 30-40 yards easy. Cheers

    • @jonnyboy9514
      @jonnyboy9514 10 років тому

      MrNWLF thanks a lot man but one question is it better to get a telescope rod or a 2 piece rod for this fishing and would 2-20 grams be fine

    • @MrNWLF
      @MrNWLF  10 років тому

      Get a 2 piece mate, much better quality, no longer than 6 foot, 20g would be the max for me, but my fish only go to 8-9lb. Anything bigger with bigger lures you will need to scale up. I use a Greys G-Lite spin 5'6"

      I tried that many times not effective at all plus I do not like the way it spins. I got back to my blue fox vibrax which are the best in my experience not only for trout but for big river chub as well !

  • @Loyfex
    @Loyfex 11 років тому

    How do you use the small spinners or small lures in general? (talking less than 10g). Im new to fishing and I really cannot get any useable distance on anything less than 12g (although my rod is 5-25g casting weight)

    It's not illegal mate, that's just scaremongering. Supposedly WD-40 contains fish oils and acts as an attractant. Works very well in saltwater and will catch fish in freshwater too.
