    It would be interesting to have someone do a long term test with this bike.

    FWIW, I just bought one of these for my wife, and for the money it works very well. And the brakes aren't reversed any more, they've apparently made a change for the U.S. market.

      @@catherinec.5337 No issues with speed for her - just fast enough to be zippy fun and feel exciting and make you modulate the throttle a bit. If top speed is too high (is that what you're hinting at?) just....don't go that fast? Two shortcomings to consider might be the brakes, which are just adequate and the lack of a true, stepped/variable pedal assist system - it pretty much slings you along if you just move the pedals at all. But the build quality is solid, and for my wife, who has some medical challenges, I knew that pedal assist was not really needed, and I tried the brakes enough during my break-in of it to know they'll stop as well as her old crappy Schwinn cruiser. It is definitely entry level, but it gets my wife out more often than her analog bike did, and that's a win for my family. I don't think of this as something to build on or improve much, just a reasonable cost "test" to see if she'll use it enough to graduate to something more sophisticated. Either way, it's fun, it's affordable, and it met her criteria in terms of style - she prefers a cruiser style bike with a certain color scheme and this nailed it.

    Is the pedal assist variable speed? My Camel has only one speed ...... full on and it is worthless. I use only the throttle.

    Nice review on another step through
    ebike from Nakto.
    I can't wait to see your review on the
    step over Nakto speed green
    and the all aluminum nakto Ranger.

    I returned mine. The inferior 250 watts motor can not ride up a hilly street. I'm looking for another step through ebike with the best power of 750 watts motor and a thumb throttle which is the safest way to control the speed. I might have to spend a little bit more money but worth it.

  • @Noukz37

    The brakes are reversed because a lot of people in China still ride manual motorbikes/mopeds and now switching to electric bikes and scooters. It kinda makes sense for having the same layout on all two-wheelers, I don't why we in the west went the other way. I'd blame the British for it, I blame them for everything haha

    So the motor only has 1 speed setting for the pedal assist? It always goes 20mph when you peddle? Or does it have different speed settings?

    Missing from review - quick stop at 20mph...how is a rim brake going to work? Little details about rear brake

    • @seandaugherty9171
      @seandaugherty9171 4 роки тому +1

      Exactly.
      Now if the front and back were rim brakes it might be ok, at least in my opinion, but, as it is, it stops like a 1968 Buick Skylark Custom with all drum brakes and no power assist going at 60 mph.
      Really BIZARRE choice they made with that rear drum setup.

    Thank you for the video. I just bought this bike and love it thus far except for one thing, because the auto assist is continually engaged, I find there are times when I want to slow the bike down to "meander" a bit; how can I control the speed; in other words, slow it down?

    If you buy a bike from NAKTO and shortly want a refund… they’ll refuse even if you’re qualified for one. This happened to me. I’m spreading this message so no one else has to go through what I had to go through. Be safe y’all.

    You had me at the crank. My wife is near 5'11" and this bike too small.. Also, the tires too narrow for our desert, heat and possible pebbles here and there. I look at it and think she would be all crunched up.as distance from seat to bars not much space. I do wish you would show how well you sat on the bike. As I said wife is near 6' and know if peddling all crunched or you can extend ones leg .

    I'm looking for a commuter bike to and from work (about 18 miles back and forth) would this be good for that. (I'm 5'0 so I've been having a hard time finding a bike that doesn't feel like it was made for a bigger person)
    Alternative suggestions also accepted. I used to take a bus to work but I would rather limit bus rides after this qurantine is over.
    Edit: I'm looking into Nakto bikes cause I live in LA, so I would like something with a close local branch.

    My husband bought me this bike as a pedal assist bike. This is not the case there is not assist. Once you start peddling it takes off and it is very DANGEROUS! There is no way to control the SPEED. You constantly have to use the brake to slow it down and once you start peddling again, it speeds up. I don't know what to do. Has anyone else experienced this problem??? Thank you. Lorrie

      So, if you disable the pedal assist, as you did, can you still pedal to increase the range, and lesson the amount of battery you use as you ride? How has your riding range changed since you disabled the assist?

      Most ebikes help a lot with hills, basically doubling your pedal power. You still might have to pedal (especially if going slow or starting from standstill on a hill). I did not test this one on a steep hill, sorry.

    To all those who ask for lower priced bike reviews.... behold, this is that for which you asked.
    Breathe deep the gathering gloom.
    This is what happens when you shoot for a retail price point for an entire bike that's about the same as the retail for the batteries on other bikes. You get what you pay for and you don't get what you don't pay for. Though they probably ought to have just upped the price a bit more and used decent rim brakes on both ends.

  • @tomopie4296
    @tomopie4296 4 роки тому

    Why buy an expensive ebike when technology will probably advance in next few years? Like how ebr even reviews the cheapies.
    However there are some rear motor ebikes that cost between $1000.00 - $1500.00 that have decent components. Nice review!

    Like the Camel model, this Classic uses a scooter style band brake on the rear

    • @seandaugherty9171
      @seandaugherty9171 4 роки тому

      Actually, the Camel does not have a rear band brake. It's really a drum brake in the style of an automobile rear brake with the crescent shaped shoes that push out into the inner diameter of the drum. If you need to replace this (and you certainly will) you need to know this.
      With that said, I can't understand why they went this route instead of just putting v-brakes on the back as well.
      The stopping power of this kind of brake, at least on this bike, is woefully inadequate.
      If the front brake cable snaps, I pray you have health insurance, since there is no way this will stop you in time to avoid disaster.
      I've had the Camel model of this bike since May 2019. I'm still preparing my Amazon review of it , because there is a LOT to talk about.

    This is either a Chinese knockoff or rebrand of one of a few typical Japanese style bikes.
    They do last long, but to be fair, Japanese streets are generally kinder than those in North America and most importantly, the market is much easier on their rides.
