Seeing people commenting that its Chinese or reliable issue had me concerned. You are correct, for now. But look at how far some Chinese company has come, Insta360, DJI, even CFMOTO
Motorcycle Sales are down worldwide. Cruisers are a luxury. Here in the United States Harley Davidson is number one, and currently Sales are flat. Indian sold only 30k total motorcycles for 2023. The motorcycle above will have a limited audience. Harley and Indian dominate with the dealerships and the aftermarket. The rest of the world is dominated by Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki etc. Good Luck😊
I'm not sure if I'm just imagining this, but I think the owner of GM said he had this bike made just because he loves motorcycles and wanted to make a big one. And that is all the reason I need. We need sensible bikes. But we also need to dream once in a while and enjoy the absurd.
They bought a GoldWing, tore it down, studied it, made castings, poured cheap pot metal, machined it to very loose tolerances, added a little here and there, and called it a motorcycle. Adding GL is a poke at Honda. Right now I am guessing the men and women at Honda are laughing their asses off. Just sayin.
Don't underestimate the Chinese ability to backwards engineer products. Sure in the beginning fit and finish are a little lackluster... but just like is the case with CF-Moto and BYD products they quickly improve that fit and finish to very good standards. Very much on par with western standards. all that remains to be seen is the long-term reliability which so far hasn't been proving to be an issue.
You are from 1980??? China makes the BEST stuff in the world! No one can match their tolerances, materials, or techonology. NO ONE is even close! @Kevin-hp5fk is it xenophobic to imply that a country with a proven track record for poor quality control and lackadaisical labor laws miiiight not make the safest 8cylinder motorcycle? I think that's a pretty valid concern from a manufacturing quality standpoint. Anecdotally: I had a Chinese bike and it was genuinely a death trap, there was NOTHING that felt comfortable or safe about that bike, and it was by far the most unreliable bike I've owned despite being brand new. When he says shops won't work on them he clearly means brand-specific service centers (e.g. good luck filing warranties on CFMoto or Apollo). Having owned Goldwings and touring Harleys and Indians I have concerns. If you have a problem with current Goldwings some dealerships are making you wait weeks until the Goldwing mechanic comes to the shop. Now with Chinese bikes, who is going to service them? I imagine if these bikes are introduced you will see a huge aftermarket of upgrades to get these bikes up to spec. Manufacturers in China will save money anyway they can, putting my rear end on a Chinese bike for a cross country cruise would be a hard sell.
Proving that I am an old man at this point. I heard the first two minutes of this and thought to myself "Yes all those things i do not need" Interesting to see other manufacturers pick up motorcycles though.
This all goes in one direction to a truly revolutionary company with a long vision towards the future... Dodge. 2 more cylinders, 6 more liters of air.
Can’t say that I am not intrigued. But, if it rides like it sounds it does, it’s not rideable for most people. Goldwings are quite easy to ride for most riders. So not really any competition. The Goldwing got smaller because of amazing technology and intelligent designs.
I do know one thing. I don’t regret buying my 2021, BUT I wish I had not sold my 2014 because if I had kept it. The 2021 might have gone up for sale by now. I miss that extra weight.
You got to be kidding..there is no advantage at all for a touring machine to weigh more...the weight loss with the 2018 plus Gold Wing was a hugh upgrade over the old model... I could never go back to the old model after experiencing my 2018 Gold Wing... I'm hoping Honda will refine the Gold Wing even more and lose more weight...the Gold Wing should be as least as light as the BMW K1600.
That's what used to be said about Japanese car's when they started coming here..... Now look at them..... Find me 1 "domestic" car brand ranked higher in reliability than a Japanese car..... You can't
At this point in time; the gold wing is likely to mop the floor with this thing. I suspect there will come a time when this bike will become competitive, but that’s just not the case right now. The biggest contention to this bike is the geopolitical issues versus the gold wing. Japan is not nearly as hostile to America at this time as China is, and the same goes for the west more broadly. That fact can’t be avoided when considering Chinese bikes.
GWM have been in Aus for years and have actually got a bit of a good rep lately. Wouldn’t buy a gen 1 bike from them but a few years down the line I reckon they’ll be an option like CFMoto
I just want Japan to make an inline-5 in an affordable quarter-fairing standard sport bike for the street, with minimal tech and minimal expense. Sort of a Z900 with another cylinder and bigger fitting frame. Or a new 5-cylinder Bandit. This 8-cylinder behemoth is a new means of securing a super-yacht in active waters. It'll grab on to a hunk of coral securely.
I certainly do not need a motorcycle even bigger and heavier than a Gold Wing, but I am very excited that someone is building and selling it. Americans will not like to read that but China is becoming the technological leader the U.S. used to be in the 50s.
I had a 2013 Goldwing and the main reason I got rid of it was the insane weight. I never dropped it but everyone else who rode it did. There are probably many owners that haven't had issues with the weight but it's always there, ready to bite you in the ass. I started looking at the new Goldwing now it's lighter, so for me a heavier Chinesium Goldbling is a definite no. I have a Chinese bike btw, so I'm not anti Chinese bike.
Why is there a 6:28 video about a motorcycle that 6:20 of it is these two guys' faces? Everything that is truly great about motorcycling is completely missing from this bike. Who the f**k wants a 12" screen on a motorcycle? I ride partly to get away from screens!
Lots of state of the market questions posed by this bike.... essentially, who is it for? The aging biker population are stepping off ultra classics onto street glides and other baggers. Here in the UK, BSA and RE are pulling folks off their GSs for lighter bikes. So a bigger wing? Seems like a misstep. In many ways I'm surprised not to see a 1000cc mini-wing, or perhaps even Honda seeing a place for a redone ST11/1300 to sit alongside the NT. But for non-western markets the market growth is away from basic 250cc transport towards a leisure based segment? Great Wall are probably looking to this as an aspiration model like Kia are doing with the Stinger
This Chinese GL just might be what the luxo-touring segment of the motorcycle market needs. Already riders are chiming in saying how skeptical they of this behemoth and that they would rather stick to the well-proven Gold Wing. It's too soon however, to tell whether or not this trickles into more Gold Wing sales for Honda.
Here's the rub, Great Wall is a car/truck manufacturer with a lackluster reputation for reliability... even in China. By just jumping into making motorcycles spontaneously, I don't see this reputation getting better. CFMoto is currently the most reliable, best made Chinese bike on the market. They are making international headway by beating the Japanese bikes in price and getting "close enough" on quality.
Hmmm... why not, the 2018+ isn't what I see as a Goldwing. Honda could make the flat6 2l and open it up a bit and bring is back to the size of the pre 2018 model with all the new tech.
Made to uncompromising quality-first Japanese standards, or cost-first Chinese standards. Take your pick, pay the price, and love it or regret it in perpetuity.

I have a 1984 goldwing, it runs like the wind, I doubt this chinese bike will live longer, honda rules.
My first thought is that welp I bet the air filter change is super easy 😂
My valkyrie isn't too bad to change the air filter. However to take the air box on or off is a chore. And six carbs are not for the faint of heart
Super easy barely inconvenient!
It will take Great wall yrs of Great motorcycles to beat honda goldwing... goldwing is a classic from the 70s/80s it will be hard to beat
Just say no to Chinese crap.
CFMoto is making really good bikes.
Then you should probably get rid of the phone/PC/tablet you tweeted this from
Just say yes to National ethics, true diversity (not mixing everything together), borders, law and order, and keeping the money we earn.
@@matthew3136 that's a valid point, no doubt about it.
But if all chinese products were crap don't you think Samsung or Apple would be manufacturing their flagship products on other country than China.
Even BMW uses chinese made motors on its flagship 1200/1250/1300 GS
"Just say no to Jap crap" - this guy, 1960
I have a gold wing D6S which is perfect. Riding a Goldwing is like your standing still and everything is moving
My Goldwing was the most reliable bike I've ever owned, 15 years...sold it and it's still on the road. Honda GW can not be toppled, no matter what Country tries to do it...
Seeing people commenting that its Chinese or reliable issue had me concerned. You are correct, for now. But look at how far some Chinese company has come, Insta360, DJI, even CFMOTO
I wouldn't buy any Chinese motorcycle no matter how big, cheap or unreliable they make them.
*Slow intake of breath through the nose, point one finger into the air*
*_Trump voice:_* China.
Goldwings last forever. It's hard to imagine many of these Chinese bikeswill be sold, no matter how good they are.
Would love to hear a breakdown on all the stolen IP that went into producing these motorcycles
Every single thing you own with any kind of quality or tolerances was made in CHINA... including ur beloved HONDA! Honda parts have been made in CHINA for decades.
@@2020Max1WAY beyond western standards... nothing has been made in USA for a decade! China has been making ALL the car and truck parts for a decade now and they mastered technology manufacturing 3 decades ago! China is the ONLY country capable of making the BEST stuff!
This feels salty as hell and racially motivated lol
On the off chance that this Chinese bike is safe and decent to ride (HIGHLY DOUBTFUL) good luck finding a quality shop/ mechanic in the USA that will work on these.
Also, 1% of Chinese riders could stand over this and move it around with some level of skill because it's a massive engine with massive weight.
That's a lot of xenophobia and racism crammed into a real short comment there buddy.
@@Kevin-hp5fk😂 calm down equal rights activist.... The average male height in China is 5foot7.... So nothing he typed is xenophobic or racist you weirdo
So go give you money to a country that hates America? Wake up people!
That is an objective fact as of now and presumably will not change anytime soon due to the immense cost of establishing a dealer network.
You gotta stop being so filled with hate that all you perceive is negative. As the kids say nowadays: go touch grass!
@@wizardmoto basically everything you own is made in China or assembled elsewhere from parts made there. I've no idea where you live, but up here in Vancouver there's two cfmoto dealers within about 50km of me, so my friends with them have zero issue with parts or service.
Also anecdotally, my friends with Harley's and Indians have had waaay more issues with the bikes than the few I know with cfmoto.
To answer you, yes, it's xenophobic to base your dislike of something solely on the country its from. Though I fully agree that Chinese labour laws are basically a massive human rights violation
China should develop this in their own market and leave the rest of the world out of it.
Dealer network,? I'll stick with my 22 Wing DCT.
Lol is this clickbait title for real? Chinese Goldwing killer?!? Wtf.
if they’re importing it to mexico, picking one up and riding home could be a fun video
Goldwing has nothing to fear from motorcycle shaped Chinese garbage.
That's what used to be said about Japanese car's when they started coming here..... Now look at them..... Find me 1 "domestic" car brand ranked higher in reliability than a Japanese car..... You can't
Would we have driven around in Japanese cars 80 years ago?
At this point in time; the gold wing is likely to mop the floor with this thing. I suspect there will come a time when this bike will become competitive, but that’s just not the case right now.
The biggest contention to this bike is the geopolitical issues versus the gold wing. Japan is not nearly as hostile to America at this time as China is, and the same goes for the west more broadly. That fact can’t be avoided when considering Chinese bikes.
Not many people are looking for a bigger Goldwing....unless; its a really nice motorcycle and comes in at a Chinese price.
I'll stay with my usa made goldwing 1500,I trust it
Oh. Not this nonsense again.
Chinese crap over the reliability of a Honda 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂Nope
Ngl that bike will certainly feel like a great wall once it breaks down 💀
GWM have been in Aus for years and have actually got a bit of a good rep lately.
No
I certainly do not need a motorcycle even bigger and heavier than a Gold Wing, but I am very excited that someone is building and selling it.
8 speed transmission…. So, 7 forward speeds and a reverse, cause damn!
If it's anything like all the Chinese bikes we already have here it's completely garbage
They are making international headway by beating the Japanese bikes in price and getting "close enough" on quality.
lol not one review on them in the last 6 months and no one is driving one. They parked this thing beside the Devel Sixteen.
I'm open minded. Test ride for me and competition is good all around I always say.
Hmmm... why not, the 2018+ isn't what I see as a Goldwing.
The quality of Chinese motorcycle are now equal to the Japanese for a reason why Chinese knockoffs of Harleys are better quality than the original.
Did they tune the intake to go “choo choo”?
