Being disabled myself, I can tell you that products that are meant to 'help' us are never affordable!
But it's basic economics really, the market is small so the price needs to be high to turn profit

Design Bywhacky every product that is ergonomic has a huge markup. It’s what they do and it infuriates me. You can get a pen for 50p jusg for an ergonomic one and I mean proper ergonomic not just putting a grip on it your looking at a 5+. People would pay that because health is so damn important to them. I’ve spent hundreds on products designed to help me. It’s like. People know you’ll spend it so they charge it.

These things are ridiculously expensive in North America, even in Canada but luckily our healthcare covers the vast majority. I think she took the wrong choice as the connections for the other two would have allowed for massively reduced production costs, meaning you could drown the market with a highly desirable at very low cost to consumers. A smaller profit margin and fractional cost would mean massive turnover for even or higher net profits to reinvest, and even acquire new products to send to market on the same platform

Because of the success of Levi Roots, people would pick Peter. At times i think Peter is too overrated. The participants should really think about which Dragon is more appropriate for their business. Tej is already established in the medical industry, he would definitely have helped her to advertise her product in the right places and Touker could have helped to drop cost of production (fabrics and all)
Last video I watched they were chosen over P&D by he creators of Pouch. Even Jenny was in with them, it was quite surreal.

Many companies that sell equipment to people like me mark their prices far higher than they should. She even said herself. A lower price would put her credibility into question, and yet half a grand is deemed affordable.
No. No, it isn't. It seems affordable since poorly built wheelchairs can cost upwards of £5,000. £550, or whatever her price is, sounds very reasonable at 10% of the cost of a basic power wheelchair.

Jenny was so nasty to this woman in this episode. Constantly reminding her she is a distinction student when that has absolutely nothing to do with her feeling the pressure of the den and forgetting her numbers, which isn’t ideal but is forgivable. I’m so glad they got her off the show, Jenny is a nasty woman who is just unnecessarily rude to entrepreneurs in the den, Sara Davies is such an amazing replacement.

What Corien said at the end was absolutely true that they try to break you then at the end they want you. Peter is the worst at this, he puts your business down and in the end he makes you an offer but he did it all in the guise of trying to get a better deal because he really likes it.
Peter is cunning, the moment he sense the business is too risky and many flaws he will try to eat the pitcher by asking a high equity stake, mind you, 10% is not an easy figure to simply hand over to an investor
I’m a medical device entrepreneur and it’s a lucrative market and I understand their interest. You need to know many top doctors across the globe, get an FDA, CE, and patents, patents, patents! Costs of manufacturing can be enormous. £75K will only cover the patent, if they can get it.
They probably will and go on to invest more and more until she’s left with 1% of a very successful business. I’ve learned my lesson…

Medical aids and equipment are expensive, I think her pricing is about right. It's the kind of thing you buy once and hopefully lasts for many years.
They can be - but used mobility scooters priced at >£1000 sell far easier than £3500 new ones. So anyone bringing out a similar product to this for £100 would crash their sales

I hate when the dragons start asking for figures from memory - it's such an ego trip. She has the figures written down, you either want them or you don't. Did you perhaps consider that trying to remember 12-20 long numbers in front of 5 strangers, a whole TV crew, and 20 million people at home might be a little bit difficult? It's ridiculous.
Completely agree. Its absolutely absurd, from someone who these young entrepreneurs should be able to look up to. If someone came to pitch to me for investment and they DIDNT come with all of the info written down I would be taken aback. Peter has done this quite a few times now and it has really made me lose respect for him

I disagree. It doesn’t have to be the owner, the inventor, or any other particular person who has to know those numbers all the time. But the person from the company asking for investment of thousands of dollars-that’s part of their job to know.

When she said she was blacking out, literally everyone reacted immediately. Don’t forget these videos are heavily edited to make them more interesting and suspenseful to watch. Plus, when someone is going through something like that, the last thing they need is 50 people crowding them. She had a chair to sit and the men offered their waters. If the women had stood and the men didn’t, you’d be saying they aren’t men at all for not helping.

I feel sorry for her, because I also pass out very easily and it's very embarrassing. That's a good product idea for sure, but the cost is too high and her margins would make it prohibitive to most potential users.
This could be argued as a medical need, so insurance will pay for it. Frankly, I think the idea is genius and I hope she succeeds!
