the beauty about knotless braids is that there is no tension. My only issue with my knotless braids was the build up, but if you know how to manage build up residue then you should be fine. I would caution you with the faux locs. It took me 3 days to take mine down, and although my hair grew tremendously, it was a tension style, so i had some loss around the hairline. Dont be afraid to take out some braids if you feel like they are causing tension.
Most locs protective styles last and are the least damaging. I personally haven't found any style before that has lasted or not broken my hair off terribly before my soft locs.

Okay yes! This made me feel a little better about trying knotless, I think i can work around the hiccups you mentioned for sure!
